Thank you so much for adding this! I’m familiar with some of the more popular pop culture Terminator references, but I did not know that specific detail so I always love when anyone is able to add further clarification in the comments here! Should’ve known there was something specific (actually, with my whole caveat about it, I think I knew there had to be SOMETHING, but did not have any idea what it was). Appreciate you taking time to share!😊💕

Finally I got to see this and I'm glad you could deliver it. Thank you Becca, your amazing. I have called you the female Knox but I think you would shine even in his presence. Your analysis got deeper than his and you have something he don't have. You have experiences from the dark places Ren have been to. I love Rens music but as an old swedish man I don't understand all the shades in his songs. And therefor I really love your deep analysis. Thank you and take care❤

Hey Hans! So sorry for the delay on getting this back up; the audio pops that were happening throughout the whole video on Wednesday took a while to figure out, but I mostly got it fixed and was thankful to get it re-uploaded. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.💕 I can’t tell you just how much…like, I’m actually at a loss for words as I try to type them…just how deeply your words touch my soul. The comparison to Knox is one that always humbles me, no matter who says it, but the further layers you went into here are one of the very reasons I do this. Not only is it healing for me to listen to the music that resonates so personally with the shared experiences Ren and I have, but it’s my hope others who may not share similar stories are able to still connect and learn or take away something from what I can share. And I also hope it can give those who do relate to it a chance to open up, themselves, if they feel led to. Thank you so much for taking time to share these thoughtful words, I’m so glad you’re here.😊💕

I am glad you are here 😊 ❤! What you are doing reminds me of a song that John Lennon wrote in the early '60s called "Help". The best version of the song I ever heard was by the Australian singer, John Farnham. If you want to listen to it, find the live version, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, from 1989. (John is always better live)

Another exquisite break down, thank you Becca! Hold On is one of many hidden-ish gems from the Demos 1 and 2 eras that got me 100% Ren-obsessed while we were waiting for the Sick Boi LP to drop. Still some of my fave material today. Oh, a quick PSA ... do not listen to the final section of Ren's latest drop (yesterday) without a huge box of tissues. I have no idea how it's even more moving than How to be Me and Su!cide (to me), but here we are. Be well 😎

Thank you so, so much! I’m honestly thrilled that a handful of people kept putting this one on my radar because you’re right-it’s for SURE a hidden-ish gem, and it was a blessing to listen to! I was actually thinking about trying to tackle that today, so I’ll make sure I have tissues in hand if I’m able to go through with it.💕

Becca, Thanks for an excellent analysis and breakdown. I still remember when I posted a comment that said you were my favorite Lyme Warrior. It must have been one of the first times your mind was blown by my comment. Thanks for singing that line and reminding me. As I understand you are still at war with lyme. But know the RENforcements have arrived. Renegades with special forces that want to support you in every way every day in the fight for a normal Life. We want you BEC. "Lyme steals, God Heals" Music also heals, emotionally. Especially the music you connect with from Ren, who tells a similar story. I know you will relate a lot to his songs "Do you believe" and "dear God" I always think of you when I listen to them. They might break you, but they will help you heal better. And that is what we want. YOU: Becca

I remember that comment, and I want to let you know, again, just how much it means to me that you took time to type and leave this one. It was such a blessing to read, and I just wanted to make sure I said that. I am so thankful for the kind souls in this community who continually remind me taking care of myself is the most important thing to them-it’s such a change from the world as a whole, stuck in the grind of hustle culture-and I don’t take it for granted for a second. And of course, I always love the Easter eggs you add in your comments.😊 I actually almost did Do You Believe when I filmed Friday, specifically because you’ve mentioned it several times, but by the time I got the others done, I was out of energy and strength, but I really hope to get to it soon, especially with what you’re saying about it. I’m sure it will hit home on a deep level.💕

Yes, Becca what you said about singing throughout the day shows a sense of happiness. That is me, I sing constantly! Music is life to me without it I wouldn’t exist. For it is more like “I sing therefore I am”. How fire is this track and really what can’t Ren do?! He attacks every genre with such a level of understanding. I love how Ren says write your own story, in other words don’t let life or others write it for you. I also thought of the Truman Show when I heard this track and also Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I love how Ren says he’d rather experience life with all its grit rather than glide through it mindlessly. He just wishes he had a tougher shell to protect him for the fight both with himself, his body and his demons. Anyway, I just wanted to add that restorative rest is what I wish for you, Becca. However, if that’s not possible at present then think of what Ren does in creating small pockets of rest in each moment; just like you do when you take that breath to prepare yourselves for your reactions - Filling your lungs with the present, with hope, potential and in preparation for the next revelatory breath. Btw check out João Charrua's origami sculptures based on the surrealist movement and his love of Salvador Dali to understand that line in the song, relating to the papery thin masks we all wear.

Of course a great reaction as always. I just wanted to pick a little thing out for particular compliments/comment as I think it says a lot about what a kind, and good person you are - it’s not a big part of what you said, just a passing choice of phrase, but it struck me because this is something I don’t think most people would even think about… When you were talking of paper cuts, you said “you use your hands for just about everything” ….and then you added without hesitation “…if you have functioning hands”. I know including that is a small thing, but to think of those who may not be fortunate to have functioning hands and to be inclusive like that, and in such a natural and an automatic way, I feel is testament to your kind and compassionate character. There are so many other examples I could have picked, but that one stuck me and I thought…i need to comment on that as it’s little things like that, as well as your insight and thoughtfulness, that makes you who you are and what you choose to share with us. Anyhow - just wanted you to know…I noticed and appreciated that. :)

…and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else reacting to this even comment on Descartes, let alone know what his philosophy and famous “Cogito, ergo sum” (although his original was French “je pense, donc je suis”, but I prefer the Latin).
@BeccaDoss
@BeccaDoss 6 месяцев назад
I want to tell you this comment touched my soul, deeply. I am so, so glad you picked up on that little addition, because it’s something I’m very passionate about making sure I clarify. It honestly stemmed from a time in 2009/2010 when I first had an occurrence where my hands “locked up,” frozen in a half open/half closed position, and I couldn’t move or use them for days. We didn’t know it was Lyme at the time, but now we know that was the root. In the ED recovery world, there’s often a line of thinking that’s something akin to “don’t focus on what your body looks like, focus on what it can DO,” and especially since I’ve become disabled, myself, that has really not say right with me. It’s a good sentiment, but unintentionally a little ableist because not everyone has a functioning body. I started asking things like, “but what if your body doesn’t work? What if you can’t even rely on something as basic as your hands to function?” And it’s something I come back to time and time again. I’ve had multiple instances since that time in 2009/10 where the same thing has happened, and I never know how long it will last. If those instances can strike so much terror in me, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for anyone who has lost permanent use of one or both hands, so I try to make sure I always clarify if I say something like “you use your hands for just about everything,” because I never want to come across as assuming everyone has that full function. It kind of started as a joke, not because it was funny, but because it helped me cope, when I’d say something like “Well, I’m grateful for my hands…at least when they’re working.” And it has become so ingrained in my mind and soul that it’s now an automatic clarification I add. The fact that you noticed it, and took time to type all of this…I’m honestly really humbled and grateful. Thank you so much.💕🫂

@@BeccaDoss …there isn’t an emoticon to convey the right feeling reading your reply gave - but I’ll say no problem, and “no, thank you”. I’ve only had one experience myself with one hand that briefly became agony maybe 30 years ago now, due to some kind of trapped nerve, where the slightest brush on my fingers became like fire all up my arm, and I was having to hold my left arm with my right to avoid the pain - meaning I suddenly had no hand free to do anything…which thankfully ‘clicked back’ when a friend massaged my arm for me, but my mother has terrible hand problems now in her 80s, my sister has had to have operations on both hands due to tenosinovitis / RSI / arthritis, as have a few of my work colleagues, so I think it’s an issue that tends to be on my mind quite a bit too. As for being aware of others who may not have the same abilities, and avoid ablisism, this is something I’ve been trying to be better at since being made aware of it as an issue maybe 20-30 years ago - but it is a struggle to always catch myself. I decided to learn sign language years ago because it seemed like a useful ability to help communicate with those who use it, and part of the course required you to attend “deaf club”, to meet and mix with members of the deaf community, and that brought home to me how much of our language is ableist in new ways I hadn’t appreciated before. It also made me realise how much of a nightmare arthritis etc can be to someone who relies on sign language to communicate, as not only do they lose their dexterity, they effectively “lose their voice” too.

@@BeccaDoss I really appreciate how you carefully go through the whole song and examine it - I love the way your mind works! Your breakdowns make me more impressed by the song that I already was, which is saying something! I never fully heard the following lines: -"I'll rip out the pages of faith and I'll roll them up like rizla paper, Descartes, lung full of destiny a man with no path is a very strange entity." That section is one of my favorites, especially the way he the word "entity" sounds. I'd missed both the faith and Descartes references - that really pulled that whole set of lines together. -"I would rather be tougher than live it smoothly like butter but not so bitter ricotta, but so I sit up and shut up it's like I a little bit struck up the courage never to * up" I fully missed the tougher/smoothly references and bitter ricotta (of course he mentioned a cheese, it's a common occurrence in many of his songs!) and the struck up phrase calling back to the "boom, sparks in the room" section. I also loved that you realized he'd use the "golden ticket" reference in Hunger as well! And something you might appreciate - while I was looking up the lyrics and going through your video again so I could tell you accurately which lines you helped with with, I discovered this little snippet in the comments under the Hold On video - a commenter called @Zulahhh had typed out the lyrics the comments and Ren responded stating that @Zulahhh had captured them near perfectly and then Ren listed out the few lines/words that needed to be corrected, and among those lines, Ren wrote, "'Nike trainer blues, a man with none to lose, I think I lost my sanity calamity ensues' (but its also a play on words - ensues/in shoes (refering to nike trainer blues) )".

But much more important, take care of yourself; your recovery is more important than our envoked empathy. If you want something great to follow this video, please react to Ren’s Spontaneous Jam posted by Hexenkind1. It links perfectly to HoldOn, and I think you will get a lot of joy (as will we watching) as you react to it! Forgive if this seems too intrusive; of course, you alone get to decide what you do and when. Just had a strong urge to offer some modicum of protection. I really appreciate you taking time to share this, and believe me, I really considered it. It probably would have been the best decision to wait, but I guess I was feeling a little masochistic, or just needed a good cry, so I ended up filming it Friday night (it’ll be live on the channel in about 20 minutes). MAN, you were right. I’m not sure I’ve lost my composure quite as much as I did in this new one, and we all know I’ve lost my composure many times. It hit on such a deep, raw, vulnerable level, and while it was really difficult, I’m glad I was able to stick it through because the healing/catharsis was worth the physical repercussions of taking the energy to do it. But I wanted you to know your thoughtful heads up and warning did not go unnoticed or unappreciated-it touched my soul in a very deep way that you thought to take the time to share this here. I’m sorry to hear it affected you similarly, but I hope it at least came with a bit of that same catharsis I know I felt, and I can imagine Ren felt while singing. I’m definitely going to have to check out that spontaneous jam video, though, that sounds like a BLAST, and I definitely could use the joy right now. 💕

Regarding Lyme, think of the pendulum, think of the dance, find gentle ways to treat and help your body fight, so that it swings back in your favor. Yes, for me there is also catharsis, mostly in hearing a new Ren song over and over, through the eyes and ears of many reactors, and then heading back to the original. The healing is deep when it comes. Much love, and appreciation for your journey and what you do for us your listeners!/ old grey mare

"mess up" wasn't what he said. Part of the rhyme scheme was 'uck', not 'ess'. Why so coy? lol. :)
