Lynette should have been happy that Tom planned the family vacation since she always done it. Tom took initiative so Lynette didn't have to do it but he should have told her beforehand since she put down a non-refundable deposit on what she planned.

So the kids are happy to go to Hawaii and so is Tom, but oh fuck that shit Lynette didn't get her way. So she had to scare the kids out of the trip just so she could be in control. Tom could have pitched they all go to heaven and she could have chosen hell, and she would have acted the same vicious way.

Husband and wife fighting for power instead supporting each other

I don't understand why people think Tom and Lynette had a great marriage in this show. They had spent more than 20 years together and they were never able to overcome their own insecurities about control and simply trust each other. They could never make the other feel they were good enough and they shouldn't prove who's got the upper hand all the time. Tom was always convinced his wife only wants to wear the pants and that she didn't believe he was a strong, adult man who is capable of making decisions for his family; while Lynette believed if she didn't prove she was the boss, Tom wouldn't respect her or pay attention to her needs and she would naturally become subservient to him and Tom would leave her in the end for someone who is more confident and strong. They just lacked faith in each other and themselves all the time.

Lynette is so controlling.

I love Lynette but what she did to Tom was absolutely awful.

It broke my heart that Penny witnessed her parents seriously fighting. Like the start of a divorce fight.

While I agree that Tom should have told her before purchasing those tickets (given, she always plans vacations. He should have, at least, asked if she had anything planned). However, Lynnette could have put her current vacation on hold and went along with it next year. A different vacation is not the end of the world! There's no need to make life more complicated than it has to be.

I was always wondering why some people would choose camping over Hawaii. The opportunity was literally there and first class tickets!

lynette is wrong here. she really couldnt handle his success coz the fight wasnt about his success in the first place. she just needs to control. sure tom went behind and bought the tickets but she was angry at not being told but turned into control

Everyone talks about how crappy of a husband Tom was (which he was), but god Lynette was AWFUL! How can a woman genuinely have issue with her husband planning a holiday for her and the kids? She was a controlling beast, who couldn’t stand the fact that Tom was finally the big shot, earning the big bucks. They ended the show with Susan & Mike apart, but it honestly should’ve been this two. The marriage was purely TOXIC!

I remember watching this show back in the days, and I thought they were the best couple ever. I was young and naive. Watching this show now, as a 40 years old, I can see how toxic are for each other. Tom is childish and insicure, but he tries to be a good husband and share his success with Lynette She is a control freak, way more than Bree, she never supports her husband and always disagrees with him, if he doesn't do things her way. They are really awful.

Lynette saying that a decade before doesn't mean she was right (also this whole thing is not consistent at all since Lynette gave up her job when she gave birth to the twins so the only one making money was Tom), and people are allowed to change their mind over the years. The point here is the same that moved almost all the dynamics in their marriage: Tom being insecure and feel threatened by a wife he obviously can't handle for the simple fact that she is better than him at everything they do, at the end of the day it's Lynette who supports him because she's the pillar of it all, not the other way around.

Lynette.. We're talking about beautiful Hawaii!! Wtf is your problem? How can you say NO to a amazing trip like that?:-( If I lived in that house, I would have taken Lynette's children to Disneyland Paris and I would have completely ignored if Lynette had complained:P

Just watched this season for the first time and when I saw Penny crying, my heart just broke I wanted to jump in the screen and hug her right away….no child should have to witness this mess
