Honestly, it's hard for me to see Oprah in the role. Lynn was just perfect for it. Also I think Oprah is more interesting when she plays SUPPORTING characters.
😅Oprah wouldn't have been able to work Lady Mae like Lynn did. The cadence, facial expressions & appearance of that "below the surface" (& outright, if provoked) viciousness was done FLAWLESSLY. Plus, she had some of the best one liners & clapbacks in the whole entire series. Again, Lynn was the perfect choice in my opinion. 👌🏾
Before all the Oprah digs I'm reading I heard her tell this story many times before. What she didn't mention was that Lynn wasn't even apart of the series. Oprah personally remembered something Lynn said when they were working on the women of Brewster's place & she knew then that she was a top actress. Oprah knew immediately that Lynn would be perfect for lady mae and gave her part up to Lynn so the series could be successful. That's a big thing to do as an actress to realize someone u know is better for the role and just give it to them. Nobody does that. So thank goodness for Oprah for having the foresight to choose Lynn cause I agree Lynn was the better choice she's just so good at playing villain characters 🤣 Oprah was good as the drunk sister too so I won't take that from her. She should play more roles like that
They need to do a spin off titled Lady Mae. This show definitely needs a follow up after Pastor Greenleaf died. They could still have Keith David’s role of Pastor Greenleaf in the spin off in cameo roles to Lady Mae as she looks back on their life together at Calvary.
Am I the only one that enjoyed Oprah playing the role she did in Greenleaf? Like Oprah did that! Of course Lady Mae was meant for Lynn, but Oprah gave me Ms. Sophia vibes 🤣
I thought it was a excellent movie series. And everyone did a awesome job. I think the movie showed what really goes on behind a mega church. That a lot of people don't realize. If you haven't seen Greenleaf you're missing out my wonderful entertainment
