Hi there, The INITIA Diode Laser, as sold by Lynton, is suitable for treating all skin types. For other lasers (i.e. Nd:YAG) , providing manufacturer protocols are observed while using the correct machinery and clients are test patched, great results can also be seen while avoiding hyperpigmentation. As technology advances, we hope it will become both easier and safer to offer more treatments to skin types 5 and 6.

Hello Poppy, during the initial consultation you can ask the client to come in unshaven so you can see the hair colour and thickness in the treatment area. You can then shave the area prior to the test patch. Alternatively, during a thorough consultation, you can ask questions to ascertain if the patient's hair is for example, brown or black in the treatment area and if it is fine or coarse and then treat them based on the information provided.
