I miss all the original members, but I've seen this band twice and neither time was I disappointed. I'll keep going to see them as long as they continue to play. It's real simple, if you don't like these guys then quit listening to them.
I love how everybody has to mention that medlocke spent a short time at the real Skynyrds infancy...never was involved in the bands rise to fame....ive seen Blackfoot a few times in the early 80s and they were kick ass,no doubt that s the band he was in when the real Skynyrd were kicking ass!!
People saying this is a "cover" band. The real Skynyrd lasted 5/6 years, these guys have been touring with/as Skynyrd for 30+yrs...with Gary and the other members who were still there for many years after the plane crash. they have been Skynyrd, longer than Skynyrd was Skynyrd and ALL are first class musicians. Ricky has been a fixture in Southern rock since its inception. Most people talking that "riding the coattail money BS dont even remember the real "Skynyrd" not saying this band was ever better or the same but without them we'd have lost Lynyrd Skynyrd long ago, have some respect.
bro im 24, this is a cover band, rickey has even admitted it keeps the gravy train rolling, they couldnt care less about the old skynyrd, ronnie steve gary allen artimus leon billy, also bob and ed king, once leon passed in 2001, they broke the ru;e of 3, technically its been a cover band since, ricky also acts like he founded everything in the band but why did he leave before they really started to make it? ronnie never called him back and for a reason
and ive seen them in 2014, and 2019, i went for Gary and any Skynyrd ties, n now the sknyrd sound is merely 3 really decent guitarists (albeit even i can play free bird better than damon johnson)
“Have some respect?” Yeah my thoughts exactly. How about just forming a new band without the same name. It’s a cover band bud. It’s reality, not disrespect.
Original members first played together in the sixties. Things happen, change and evolve. Glad to hear them. How many of your sports teams that were around in the sixties still have the original members? By your logic they are just poser sports teams.
@@jonathancorbett2897 not really, tribute bands don't usually have any connection to the original , until gary passed away it was still his band rickey was there at the beginning went off to do Blackfoot was invited back, Johnny's family
I got the pleasure to see the real band in 1974, and then again in 1983 years after the crash, I admire anyone trying to keep the legend alive, but the new folks in the Lynyrd Skynyrd band are just having fun, and that’s it 😅, kinda like Adam Lambert replacing Freddie Mercury with Queen, Lambert can sing 🎤, but that’s all 😊
I read years ago that Ronnie's widow controlled the name and had final say about using the name. Didn't Gary's wife have any input? If people are still willing to pay to see a total cover band..ok..have at it. Me? I think it's bad form...what's next? The Beatles-2. The Ramones with no original members?
Vocals is pretty much the only thing that can't be replaced and I actually prefer Johnny's vocal's over Ronnie's in some song's and as long as Johnny is still singing i'll be listening!
I listen to Skynyrd almost daily and have for years... original members up to now and everyone in between. I do love acoustic also but this is really close to be garbage. Never thought I would say that about the music I love but just keepin it honest.... this is bad...
@@katherineskrzynecki3347 Along with every cover band from New York to California. This is no different. Id be a little pissed if I paid more than a cover charge to see Skynyrd and not a single founding member showed up.
@@katherineskrzynecki3347They were actually playing and recording again within about 18 months: as Rossington Collins Band. Originally all 5 surviving members, but Artimus got banged up in a motorcycle accident and stepped back. 2 albums...then Rossington left...1 more album from Allen Collins Band (lineup including Billy and Leon)... And then rebooted Skynyrd within another 2 or 3 years.
I agree with the other guy. 'Skynyrd ceased to exist on October 20, 1977. These guys are a cover band who have no right to call themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd. If they went by another name I could support their effort to make a buck, but what they are doing is musical blasphemy. They should be ashamed, especially Ronnie's brother. It's just sad.
JVZ is keeping the legacy going with help of the original Rickey Medlocke and others... If yall dont like quit watching and listening to it... All u have to do
I seen them three times before the plane crash and my first ever concert was ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd on July 4, 1974 in Alabama and the modern Lynyrd Skynyrd is touring again in 2024 with ZZ Top and I have my April 6 tickets in Huntsville, Alabama… yeah I’m old lol 69 years and still love concerts! Ronnie would be proud of you guys!
Hi good news I can all but guarantee your gonna have a great time it’s been more than a decade ago but I’ve seen them together once and had a great time Skynyrd opened for ZZ Top at mine to
Last time I checked Johnny was still alive. I actually helped promote a southern rock show in 1985 with Molly Hatchett, Black Oak Arkansas, the original Johnny Van Zant band, Toby Jugg and about 7/8 other bands...
You guys got no shame you're singing a song that's 50 years old by another band and you're calling yourself the same name as they were I mean boys you're not Lynyrd Skynyrd it's nice to keep the songs alive but I'd rather put on my LP and listen to it I'm sorry listen to the original guys that played the music I was blessed to see the original not saying you guys are probably the best cover band out their butt and then to do an unplugged version did some people just don't know no better but I'm telling you the fans like me from 50 years ago I'd like to think we do
The guy with white hair he was in the original lineup and left the band before the plane crash. He taught the others how to play the classics. Cause he was the only one that knew the songs
@@adamkievit2427 Bob was the original drummer, but he quit the band right before they started recording at Muscle Shoal's and that's when Rickey joined as a full-time member. He then remained the drummer until he decided to leave the band in order to get Blackfoot going. That's when Bob returned and the rest is history.
Then why did you even watch ?? First 30 seconds of Ricky playing & I knew I’d love it. For a *Cover Band* they put on one hell of a live show !! Sorry Buddy but they ARE Skynyrd Nation at their finest !!!
Sorry, just disappointing. Not very good at all. Would much rather hear the real acoustic tunes. Write About It, Am I Losin, I Never Dreamed, Four Walls of Raiford, Made In the Shade, Comin Home, ect.. Sorry but zero energy here
Seen Skynyrd a dozen times, all after Johnny died. Always kick ass, but watching this was lame. Guess we all getting old. So sad, but I am guessing this is really not Skynyrd.
Seen the original group back in the 70's in Chi Town numerous times. Including their last show in Soldiers Field in 77. No other group sounded like them. And their last show in 77 was amazing. The best I've seen from them. What a loss! But it's the music now folks. The band has passed. I just appreciate the keepin on with their tunes. Heads up folks.
