Thank you, thank you, thank you, for give Lynyrd Skynyrd a deeper dive than most, going past just Freebird and Simple Man, they have a LOT of great songs, and this one is just a toe tapper from the get-go. It really shows off their musicianship as much or more as any of their songs. Don't know if you've heard it or not, but if not try "Call Me the Breeze".

It’s just incredible.. the guys in this band worked their asses off to be one of the greatest bands of all time in my opinion.. i’ve been playing guitar for 50 years and am still not even close to be that proficient on my favorite instrument 🎸 lol Cassie’s little brother Steve joined the band for this last “real” Skynyrd album and he fit right in and added yet another amazing dimension to this already ridiculously talented group of artists!!🎼❤️🙏🏻✌️

Check out The Ballad of Curtis Loew, Mississippi Kid, Swamp Music, Poison Whiskey or Anything from The First 6 albums. Then after the Pre-Crash you can get into Little Brother Johnny Van Zant's years of Skynyrd 1987 until present. Start with God and Guns that would be good.
@GBeret83
@GBeret83 3 года назад
This was a song written entirely by guitarist Steve Gaines, both the lyrics and music, and can actually be found on RU-vid with Gaines band called Crawdad from the Miami, Oklahoma area, before he joined Skynyrd, performing the song. After joining Skynyrd, Gaines took the song to the band, Ronnie Van Zant changed a few of the lyrics to "Skynyrize" it, and the rest as they say is history!

I wish I would’ve seen the original lineup, too, but I was too young. I have seen them twice. If this pandemic ever comes to an end, the band is still touring. There are people of all colors at the shows, too. Don’t you doubt it. These guys and gals loved everyone and were not and are they racist. The use of the rebel flag is unfortunate. If you get the chance to see them, go see them. It’s not the same, but they’re good. Again, thank you for paying respect to these guys and gals.

Thank you for reacting to this song. This is my all time favorite LS song and its under appreciated and under rated and finally someone that is actually good at reactions has checked it out. The guitar and piano work on this just blows me away and then throw in those gritty vocals and lyrics on top of it and I'm in pure heaven.

The story of how hard they worked to get their first record contract, 7 years, and yet they stuck to their guns and risked pissing off the record company to make the album the way they wanted it. its just amazing. The whole story of their practice place, Hell House where they had to have someone stay overnight so no one messed with their gear shows their dedication through really hard times .

Yes , in the early '70s the two biggest groups in Southern Rock were Lynrd Skynrd and Allmans . But two distinctions between them : 1. While both had core influences from Blues ,Allmans had more influence from Jazz , and LS was more in touch with their Country side of their roots . 2. Allmans frequently improvised , LS rehersed endlessly , so as to do everything exactly the same , every time .

Steve Gaines was a fantastic guitarist - so sad he was only with the band for such a short time. And it's ironic that this album cover doesn't have him or Artimus Pyle on it (this shows early Skynyrd with Ed King (Sweet Home Alabama riff) and Bob Burns (initial drummer)
