I was 12 years old when the plane crashed. I found the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd about 23 years ago. Now today at the age of 58 I'm still turning up the music on the radio when Skynyrd comes on! I am a farmer and a truck driver, trucking company owner. A very ordinary person, four year college degree in the late 80s even.....
They were my very first concert in Kansas city Kanasa with the Outlaws. I'm 65 now and it's still like yesterday. I was on my way to Okinawa Japan in the Marines when I heard the plane went down. God Speed and Thank you guys for the Best Southern Rock in History.
I'm 64 and remember where I was when I woke up that morning and heard the worst news possible at the time. RatCat I agree with you. I was at a camp party out in the great north woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Most of the night before we were listening to L. S. Like I've said before it didn't matter what part of the good old U. S. A. Your from everyone loved them. I can't even fathom all the excellent tunes they still had in them..
I truly love this band and especially this song. There's a story behind this song for me just before I started dating the true LOVE of my life. I've always loved this song long before I met my girlfriend. As a friend at the time she wins tickets to see them perform at the Lowell Auditorium, Lowell,Mass. I told her if SIMPLE MAN comes on please call me thinking 🤔 she wouldn't but she did and I knew right then and there she was going to be my girlfriend. Sadly her Dad had passed away on 2/13/2013. So I went to the wake and funeral for her to show respect and support. Then the memorial for gathering for him. After that she told she had feelings for me and love for the last 2yrs before hand. Long story short we got together one night for drinks and well a great night at a hotel unplanned. We are now have been to together for almost 10yrs since 3/16/2013 She truly is my soulmate and the love of my life. That song has way more meanings than she truly knows. I spent my entire life listening to Skynard! Seen them in concert and love their southern rock! It's apart of me, inside and out. Their music flows in my veins like my blood! Southern born, southern breed, southern girl forever! Lynard Skynard is the best of all! 😎
Thanks for the like, iam a diamond in the rough, and shining bright, after 30 years of addiction, this song has been a light in my darkness, in fact the whole album, my musical taste are vast from , acid techno, dubs reagea, country ,UK drill ,illegal rave culture, soundsystem,culture, stateside hiphop,electronic sound's ,symphony, blues, bluegrass, punk,60,70,80,90s, that has edge, and without having this knowledge of sound's I'd be a dead soul, just existing, but I've evolved, I have a wife two buitifull boy's ,a home and my sobriety, my love for them has saved me, and I can't wait to share my lifetime of musical memories and trials and tribulations ,and hope music will help them through a difficult world 🌎

They use it against you even though those days of misery are long gone..) Ive also been to a lot of raves in my life.. My first one was in '96 and my last was in 2013.. Ive seen it all and after almost 20 years of visiting raves i had enough of them.. There where times we would visit 2 or 3 raves in a weekend.. legal or illegal raves.. I really like the old stuff.. House classics, acid, early hardcore etc.. But i never listen to it when im alone or at home.. Dont know why.. Then its just guitar music, reggae, soul, blues, rock, country....and i like oldschool hiphop.. thats something i grew up with I geuss when it comes to my taste of music i have also a wide variety of genres i like.. When it touches me or if i can identify myself with it, its good enough for me.. I dont care if its opera or metal.. Music is also a personal thing. Everybody feels different so music tastes different for someone else.. But music is always a good medicine for Everybody

i'm not southern at all, but i still love this song and the band. I actually listen more to hiphop. But i like classic rock too. I grew up listening to both. And this song will forever be in my favs.
My son is kind caring loving and he was going in the wrong dirrection. Cost him his life. 1 year my 33 year old son. Followed that rich man gold. When all along he is 24 karat. That is all he needed. But did not understand.. God Bless Alll Hug your. Kids

I wasn't born yet in 1976, but i saw a documentary once about the airplane crash and i felt pretty sad afterwards..It's really sad.. Sometimes i wonder how it would be if the airplain didnt crash that day.. Realizing that we will never know pretty sucks
