My favourite band of all time thankfully my dad had great taste in music this is what I grew up listening to and am now 30 years old and still sounds as great as the first time I heard them
Proves that some friends can form a band on a baseball field and through hard work, grit and the pure will to succeed can reach greatness. Never be another like Skynyrd. Fly high Freebird!!.
RVZ was the heart of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band. They could have moved on with the hits had he survived. No RVZ no hard hitting lyrics, period. The tribute band performs zero of their original material and only Ronnie's songs, there is a reason. Nobody would come out. People come for the RVZ songs and that's it.
No laser-show, no fireworks, no make-up - but pure raw energy! One should show those videos to those new 'rock' bands so they can learn about stage-presence!
Timeless.....when Kenye, Taylor, and Lady Ca-Ca are long forgotten, this music will still be played somewhere......as long as southern boy breathes....
I was born in 89 can't stand modern music 🎶 I have always loved lynard skynard ever since I was 15 years old taking hard drugs and heard that smell what a song what a story. Great music never gets old
Skynyrd is sacred. I was born 10 years after their tragic demise but this band is timeless no other bands since have come close to their perfection. Skynyrd is my favorite band and will always be.
Real life american jam. U want to know what its like to be free! Be american! The what gut of american people are made of. Or a least want to be made of. The life & times & adventures of the music man ! This style should be given a name ! RONNIE JAM! ITS AMAZING collins is superman & collins his siamese twin with differant head.
There was no need for any makeup or frills, this band was so killer they didn't need shit but their kick ass music. That was sufficient to entertain the crowds.
@@ibleedwhiskeyplanet1544 They were told not to walk out on the "tongue" runway portion of the stage. They did. Not only that, the Stones were nearly booed off the stage by the crowd that heard this opening act.
Me to and I'm 62 . I was 12 years old first time I heard them changed my hole outlook on music . I was 17 when the crash happened and still get a tear in my eye from time to time.
Would like to thank all of the Skynyrd fans out there, for the votes and the nice comments, and to those who may not know, this was the famous concert at the Knebworth Fair 1976 in England, Rolling Stones were the headliner, they came out late and drunk. So needless to say Skynyrd stole the show and the english fans fell in love with our boys from the south!!
AND! The stones said Skynyrd couldn’t go out on to the tongue like ramp on the front of the stage. Ronnie didn’t take to kindly to that and brought the boys out on it during free bird.
@@onceonlyaz He escorted the boys out on that tongue stage with so much class. I get emotional every time I see it. Ronnie had Gary under one arm and Allen under the other. They crossed the forbidden boundary like a FREE BIRD!
there all are in heaven with the Lord getting a big reunion concert ready for when god comes back and takes us to heaven these dudes rock and I'm very there jamming in heaven see you all very soon it's going to be a big happy reunion
My first concert was 1974, my friend and I sneaked out her bedroom window to catch a ride to Macon, GA where Skynyrd was playing, My life was forever changed :)
I used to go to Macon all the time! I saw Marshall Tucker there for the first time. I saw The Allman brothers in Piedmont park and was in the Fox theatre all three nights when Skynyrd recorded their live album. I grew in the best of times for music! 🎶🎼❤️🍑🍄🇺🇸✌️
Yes Ronnie was the ultimate alpha male he was the showman so was Gary Rossington Allen Collins Billy Powell Artemis Powell William Wilkerson base of course Mr badass himself Ronnie I saw him at the Nashville fairgrounds and I went to Knobworth fair in England that was two of the baddest performances I've ever seen by southern rock man I've seen Marshall Tucker seen the outlaws I've seen black foot what black go oak Arkansas that was 1977 and I won't forget it it was sad about the demise of Ronnie Steve Gaines Cassie Gaines Dean kilpatrick and both the pilots Artemis Powell had ribs sticking out of his side but the old Marine humped it a quarter of a mile to where he saw a light on and he said my friends are her please help them God bless the people in that house

He bought that chrome Slingerland kit with the money he got when he left the Marine Corps! ..After Skynyrd kicked ass here at Knebworth, the Slingerland Drum Company gave him a brand new custom made blonde-maple drums as an endorsement!
I have to say it's so great to be able to see the entire group together. Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, Artimus Pyle. Can you imagine these musicians today? My son was like 7 when we were driving through Florida and heard That Smell- for the first time. He can still recall that memory 40 years later. What a golden moment in time.
Watching this I just wish I could jump through the screen and be in that time and place when that bare foot giant still walked this Earth, thank you Ronnie and the rest of the band for all the songs and wisdom you left us, there will never be any like you guys again🤟😢!!!
+Ari Vat Blackberry Smoke is carrying the southern rock banner. They put on a great show and play top notch music with a real Skynyrd-y, southern rock flavor.
There was something about Skynyrd right from the first time I heard them in my dorm room in college early November of 73. It was "I Aint The One" on the FM and I knew then they were unique with a southern electric edge that I could never get tired of. Thank you LS!
I was there celebrating my 18th, never really knew LS before the gig and suddenly this whiskey drenched southern groove overcame me. Never ever to be forgotten.
He was pretty stern about the band giving the audience their best. If you watch enough of their live stuff you'll notice Ronnie giving a lot of directions to the others. Remember none of these guy were even 30 yet at the time of the plane crash. And Ronnie always said he'd never live to see 30. He was 29 when he died.
What we have here is 1 of. 2 home grown band's the I grew up. Listening to now that I've moved out of my home state I find myself wanting to. Go back for a visit.
Use to hang with these boys in a bar in Atlanta before they got famous. Ronnie was always bare foot. Talked to him once at the bar while he was getting a drink. Gone are the great days of music.
I not care who the band is led zeppelin ac/dc Rolling stone ZZ Top the original lynyrd skynyrd was the best rock band of all time in my opinion Ronnie and the boys were the kings of rock music to me
no one will ever fill ronnie vanzants shoes, this was and still today is the best southern rock band that ever performed. r.i.p ronnie, cassie, steve, billy ,leon and allen!
The guy in the back the drummer artimus pyle was a veitnam vet who was one hell of a drummer and great human being saved the rest of the band after the plane crash !!!! The old hippie " byrdman 62 " enough said
He's a registered offender only because his wife accused him because she was divorcing him and he did not want to bring the children into court that's why he took the charge she did nothing to any child whatsoever
Internet FUCKED UP music. Back in my day you drooled when a badass record hit the shelf. Now days younger generation of people calling Imagine Dragons rock and roll.... 🤒🤒🤕🤕😷😷🤢🤢🤓🤓🤡🤡☠️☠️
underrated i don't think so there known as one of the best never heard that but if you say so i have seen him bare foot on stage thats interesting to know he absorbed the sound through his feet good ol ronnie
I've met all three of the Van Zant boys Ronnie was the coolest dude ever no better band than Lynyrd Skynyrd they have 15 songs in rotation on any given day no other band has ever did that or ever will
Yes he did seeni it myself it 1976 awesome show front row barefoot stalkin the stage song writer) lead singer) band leader ) then comes steve Gaines WOW Street survivors there music will live on forever . Gone to soon RIP southern rock Gods
If it was with Gary Wright, Peter Frampton and YES ... I was there too ! I couldn't remember the name of the place, but knew it was outside of Chicago at an old track. It was just a week before the Knebworth concert.
