I think anything within the map shown at www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/europe/france/lyon/ works for lodging. We stayed near Bellecour metro stop and felt it was ideal. It is on a pedestrian mall, lots of transport options (including taxis in middle of the night), a block from main tourist office & walking distance to everything. Have a great time!
Hi Sean, Enjoyed this video, especially because I’m hoping to be in Lyon for the Festival of Lights myself next year, and am also staying a few days in Annecy too. I’m a keen photographer like your wife so am very excited by the prospect of exploring these two places along with many others on my itinerary. Did you find that Lyon was super busy because of the tourists there for the lights festival or was it still manageable? Was it easy to navigate around the various attractions during the lights festival and could you do most of it on foot? Happy travelling and stay safe!cheers, Marg
