Thank you so so much for this video! The timing was perfect, I'm moving there next month and I was still undecided with which neighbourhood to live in.
This seems to be a very nice place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
It looks like Jean moulin Lyon 3 is right by La Guillotiere, did you ever have to walk through/near the dodgy areas? Did you feel that the public transportation was safe given how close it is to that area?
Hi Bryn, yes you are right - the campus is right by La Guillotière. My metro ride to and from my accomodation (in Vieux Lyon) to Lyon 3 would stop here, which was perfectly safe - particularly if you're commuting during daylight hours with lots of other people around. I have also ridden various lime scooters or bikes through this area, in fact it is lovely because it's right by the riverbank. Simply put, I just wanted to flag as a word of warning to anyone to be vigilant here, especially at night.
Hi. can you recommend a realtor or what is your advice on getting in touch with rental agents in Lyon? I'm having a hard time securing short term rental for September to December,, 2023 near Inseec University I've tried emailing and calling some places, but no response. Thank you
Hello, I love your videos. I recently used it in one of my study abroad essays. I was wondering if you could do a video specifically for safety in Lyon, for abroad students.
Hey Maiya! That's so cool!! I am fascinated to hear how the videos contributed to your essays. I would be really interested to also chat ideas about safety in Lyon - do you want to message me on my IG?
@@LegallyBlondeAbroad I came across this video and I subscribed to the channel immediately because of your willingness to help the aforementioned student. It’s 3 months ago, didn’t know how it all went, but thanks for wanting to help. Oh, by the way, this video is nice 👍
| Thank you for bringing me up to speed with the latest on the rental market in Lyon. I appreciate that things may have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic which postdates my study abroad there (in mid-late 2019).
Hey Josephine, I assume you’re talking about La Guilliotière. It’s a beautiful suburb, right on the river. Personally I’ve eaten at restaurants there, and I had a friend who lived there. However, it is known for crime and violence so I would caution you if you are in the area in the evening hours. People lurk at that metro station as if they are there for some unwanted business. While most of the time they are harmless, it can be quite intimidating if you’re new to the area and are a tourist.
@@s.a.h6416 the city of Lyon was amazing. The people were all kind. My french wasn't that good but the people are willing to help you, as long as you attempt to speak french. I never once felt at danger when i was there and I know my friends felt the same. The only downside for me is supermarket prices weren't much cheaper from home as I'm from London. However transport prices are very good. Once you get a student travel card, it's 25 euros for the month and allows you to take bus, metro and tram all over the city. Making friends is also very easy, as there will be a lot of international students there looking to meet new people. Also, watch out when in the area La Guillotiere as there are a lot of pickpockets, but apart from that it's a relatively low crime city from what I experienced. I honestly loved my year there and I am looking to go visit again very soon. Also, my friend from the USA only spent 1 semester and regretted not staying longer, to the point where she's thinking about going back to do a masters degree. I hope that I've helped you out, if you want to know anymore, please feel free to ask.
@Ghost omg u helped me so so much I appreciate ur long text I'm grateful. It feels good to finally talk to someone who really lived it not on Google and random statistics and news. Thank you so much
@@s.a.h6416 No problem, hope you enjoy your time there. Also visit Annecy and Geneva whilst you're there as well for a day trip. A coach there is very cheap.
Thank you, great information, but a video of such a content should have more footage of the City, rather than of the historical talking to us most of the time.
I'm from Lyon. Bouchons are not traditional French restaurants. They are typically lyonnais. Traboules are not spiral stairways. They are secret covered passageways. Some of them are stairways. So, yeah, I stopped listening after that.
Hi Maria, thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your honesty and am disappointed that I haven’t portrayed things accurately from your perspective as a local. I agree that my explanations may lack in places. I only make these videos to share my enthusiasm and love of travel i.e., I am not holding myself out to be a travel guide of sorts. I hope you are enjoying all of the wonderful things Lyon has to offer.
Nitpicking: Lyon is *in* France, so any traditionally Lyonnais is definitionally French. Similarly, Chicago has a system of secret “pedestrian tunnels,” though-in fact-some are up in the “air.” If you say “tunnels” ….everybody understands this refers to the entirety of the system of pedways. Any of the three words is acceptable, “tunnel,” “pedway,” “skyways,”….etc…..
Hello😃 💓 I've been watching your covers. It was a transcending experience listening to you sings. I wanted to get you in front of our global audience of music fans.
