I feel like the 'give a child a hat' was a way of covering her identity. If you think about it, the nurses should be able to recognize the princess/ probably found her at the sight. They also found that diamond sewn into her clothes, which shows her status perhaps.
Wait... yeah!!! That makes me wonder, too "they said I was found at the side of a road" might not be true. They told her that to protect her. And she was found reeaalllyyy far from the palace. Half the country away. I wonder if the nurses got her as far away as possible, then gave her some sort of memory drug. I'm actually thinking into this...
@@vibrantlife4862 i think at some point the orphanage knew when they found her and tried to hide her so she could survive. As for her name, it seems like the some remaining memories she had made her say that sort of “sound” when she was asked her name. So they stick with this sound she made and that’s maybe why it sounds so similar to her real name. The hat maybe was yes to “hide” her identity, kinda making her disappear in the crowd if her face was a little bit covered up. 😊
@@litchimoon7174yea your kinda right plus her family might be killed so probably that's why she was there in the orphanage forever and she wanted to get out. The nurses were helpful because they were hiding the princess. That's why they said "Call the child Anya, Give the child a hat". They changed her identity because somebody is trying to kill her. I mean if she wasn't living with her family, then her family's dead. They chose Anastasia to reign again so that she could took what her family left behind.
IT KILLS ME ON THESE PARTS..And I just bust into tears.. ' In my dreams shadows call There's a light at the end of a hall' ' And I hear a voice whisper "I'll meet you right there in Paris" Paris'
This song will forever be my favourite from this musical. It was the first song I sung at uni and to have it so nicely received gave me so much confidence. So if you’re a mezzo and wanna feel super confident, sing this song! It is magical!
The nurses know who she is there is really no question. One of the found a diamond sewn in her under clothes. The following lines is sung by Anya later in the show when she gives Dimitri a diamond and explains that she's had it for years and the nurse found it in her under clothes. And she sings it in the key of in my dreams almost like a reprise. "She had it from me till the day I could go A secret she kept although why I don't know she said don't tell the soul to the moment you must I had to make sure I found someone I trust"
Oh my god,the hamilton fans even dominate the Anastasia musical comments XD Hello my fellow fans or Hamiltrash or whatever it's called. I heard the term Hamiltrash somewhere. What'd I miss?! XD
It's very different and gives a very different tone to the musical, I think the musical needed this, just like the animated movie didn't : both are so different i'm impressed they managed to do that this well
Lion Celica I agree. I really wanted more background on his character and more development for him. He could have had a lot of potential in the storyline.
Lyrics They said I was found By the side of a road There were tracks all around It had recently snowed In the darkness and cold With the wind in the trees A girl with no name And no memories, but these Rain against a window Sheets upon a bed Terrifying nurses Whispering overhead Call the child Anya Give the child a hat I don’t know a thing before that Traveling the back roads Sleeping in the wood Taking what I needed Walking when I could Keeping up my courage Foolish as it’ seems At night all alone in my dreams In my dreams Shadows call There’s a light At the end of a hall Then my dreams fade away But I know it all wills came back One day I dream of a city Beyond all compare Is it Paris?Paris A beautiful river A bridge by a square And I heard a voice whisper I’ll meet you right there in Paris Paris You don’t know what it’s like Not to know who you are To have lived in the shadows And travel this far I’ve seen flashes of fire Heard the echo of screams But I still have this faith In the truth of my dreams In my dreams It’s all real And my heart has so much to reveal And my dreams Seem to say Don’t be afraid to go on Don’t give up hope come what may I know it all will come back One day !
Mia Velasquez It’s believed that the nurses named her Anya because they knew she was the princess, but was trying to protect her identity. Learned that from Genius lyrics lol
Also, Anya is the Russian version of the name of Anna, and the person who was believed to be Anya before they found her actual body was named Anna Anderson
@@justanotherbohemian3827 Yes, Anna is a name in Russia. Anya isn't the 'Russian version' of Anna, it's the derivative/ diminutive. Russian naming is kinda confusing for non-Russians, I don't fully understand it myself, so I'll try to make this simple for both of us. Basically, in Russia, you have your name (in this case, it's Anna) and your name has a diminutive. (Anya) Diminutives are essentially nicknames except it's everyone has one and everyone calls you by your nickname instead of your closest friends. I hope this makes sense, I don't really know how to explain it.
