It's a beautiful thing to see someone discover Akala for the first time. The eyes light up. The heart pumps quicker. And you feel you're listening to someone who articulates truths you've always known but have never been able to put into words. Thanks for the reaction lads. Was great.
Part 4 will be your favourite. Akala is probably one of the greatest minds we have in our scene, he has done many talks and written many books aside from his music. a very well educated brother. loving the channel and the reactions
I think Akala smashed it on Question Time. He gave better political responses than the rest of the panel and (I think) he was the only one on the show that night, that isn't a politician by trade.
Ahh mate!Every Fire in the boothe by akala is insane,Part 4 is something on another Level, ive actually showed my mum n dad n girl....and they was blown away....especialy by the last part. Powerful!
He was born and raised in London. He wasn't saying that he couldn't speak English, he was saying that his teachers treated him as if he were stupid and put him in groups with students who couldn't speak English. I think secondary schools in the UK would overlap both middle and high school in the US. We go to primary school until about 11 and then go to secondary school.
Akala is truly an inspiration. His mentality and philosophy changed my life and thousands of others like me. I was a bad kid which transpired into me being lost as a young man, mixing in circles and involved in crime which only would have had one ending. I listened to Akala and started listening to his music which lead me to his seminars, books and texts. I learned to understand the route I wanted to take. He changed my mentality towards everything. Without going too deep… 7 years ago I was broke and part of a group involved in all kinds of illegal activities. I now run a healthy business with employees which is only growing everyday and the only person I can thank for that is Akala. Examples of just a fraction of things he thought me; -knowledge is power. The more you know the more things you can understand and conquer. So read. Study. Take in things which don’t seem important at the time. They will only broaden the mind. - Ownership is key. Only invest in what you can afford. If you can’t buy it outright, don’t. If you lease something and pay for it monthly it’s because you CANNOT afford it. Instead invest that money into something you can afford. This way It is yours, nobody can take it away. The money within that item you buy outright has not cost you anything. it has become an asset of YOURS. It is invested money. If you where to sell it you would regain the money in which you spent. - Stop looking up. Too many people look at others. If your looking up at someone else you cannot see what’s directly in front of you. Every person is different. When you stop investing time looking up you have more time to look forwards. Forwards at your own journey and how you can achieve what you want to achieve. - Money flossed is money lost. Any money spent on showing others your success is only putting your money in the hands of others. - Net worth is not a measure of somebody’s worth. In our western consumer environment we are brainwashed into judging people’s progress in life on how much disposable income they have to spend on items they don’t need. This only benefits the elite. They need every person to spend their all of their available money. This gives you one choice…work until you die.. 99% of people spend their net worth to show complete strangers what their entire life’s work is worth. This is just a snip of the way in which Akala changed my entire outlook on life. And if this comment helps just 1 person on their journey I would consider it to be a success.
Life lessons for sure and 7 years is a quick amount of time to figure it out - some never do. On the ownership point: Wealth creates more wealth - debt creates more debt. Never owe anyone anything except maybe for a house.
Hey Bizz, as an anti capitalist I baulk a little at people starting businesses and profiting off the labour of others, and I say that as an ex business owner who quit in order to line up my values and my actions, but I understand that for many people it’s the only way you can create reasonable material conditions for yourself so I don’t stand in judgement. All that said, I’d just like to say that I think you posted a really beautiful comment here, really moving stuff, and of course a great testament to the power of words, the power of listening, and the power of putting knowledge into action. Props to you and Akala for understanding these incredibly important truths.
I knew you’d enjoy this, there’s a reason Akala doesn’t get airplay because he tells uncomfortable truths, no doubles or metaphors just facts, rappers like him and lowkey are dangerous because of the message they send, that’s Charlie Sloth, fire in the booth is his platform and there’s been some classics, Wretch 32, Kano, Ghetts etc
Its so refreshing to see americans take the time to get into the uk scene and truly break it down and take it in. Its so cute how excited and passionate u both get. I think u do a really good job of truly understanding the message..a lot of americans have such a patronising tone when talking about the uk rap scene but not a touch of that here..really loving ur vids its even me get excited all over again abour our music 👍🏽
Essential UK list Akala -fire in the booth's 1-4 Mic Righteous Fire in the booth 1-3 Lowkey fire in the booth 1-2 Little Simz - Introvert Ghetts - Fire in the booth part 3
Akala’s fire in the booth part 4 isn’t next level, it’s on its own plain. His daily duppy is also very special in that he just decides to do something very different. I’d say mic righteous warm up session before fire in the booth is the order!
He's British and English is his first language. He is put in groups with those that cant speak English because of the racism he encountered from his teachers and school. Number 4 is going to blow your minds!
Akala is out on his own. He’s so clever and interesting. He’s an educator in the UK but doesn’t pretend to know what he doesn’t know. He is one of my biggest inspirations as a middle class white guy from England. His book taught me so much 🙌🏼
Great reaction guys. Keep on the Akala train and do parts 2,3&4 next (in order) you won't be disappointed. Akala is so talented, you just have to admire him and his craft. Love from Manchester UK 🇬🇧 x
11:00 - I think a difference in culture plays a part. Akala is crazy respected over here. Lectured at Oxford, work been used in PhD theses etc etc. He’s truly in his own league. Nobody compares themselves against him, just pure respect
Someone who REALLY doesn’t get airplay for telling uncomfortable truths is Lowkey. If you check out his fire in the booth, Ahmed, and Ghosts of Grenfell (read about Grenfell fire before reacting)
A fresh Akala reaction, this man is a griot, a lyrical genius. My favourites are part 2 and 3 but part 4 is a masterpiece. I’d suggest watching in order to fully appreciate the progression. Also, his books and interviews are also really insightful! Watching from Northampton UK. Sub button hit 💛
Akala is a true prophet. One of the best and most educated artists. Locksmith is my best comparison to Akala as far as content and delivery. Akala is just on another level. An author, playwright, professor, a true Renaissance man. Please listen to Akala F64 & Find no enemy.
he gets zero promotion over here .... so over there u have to be a real reactor to unearth these dons .... i love u fellas ... keep doing your thing!!!!
Regards the diamonds line, i believe his sister is ms dynamite who had uk chart success, i think in the 90s or 00s with the song, it takes more, which also has a blood diamond reference, specifically, "if its no too complex, tell me how many africans died, for the baguette on your rolex?"
Ere from part 4 - Akala is a real genius an I think that really isn't enough for this amazing inspirational man - knowledge an wisdom is the only thing that separates us all-- 🤝
@@BeersBars respect beers an bars as bars n beers is popular in uk especially wen world Cup football on! - only found you 2nte an u2 got a kool vibe - I was checking upchurchs reactions n got ya an glad I did - AKALA -totally different level- I remember watching FITB at the time an wondered how is he not cracked usa yet ? Still wonder as his many talents an writing is epic- 🎤....respect for reply B&B🍻
@@jameshickey1294 yeah I'm surprised he is not bigger in the US as well. My guess would be he was asked to come and sign with a label and he would not do that. 🍻✌️
Akala writes books & is a respected lecturer at Oxford University. Interesting that we learn more about American history than Americans. Americans don't really want to learn history whilst listening to rap they're conditioned to just wanting to hear about bling & waps. Education is power, big bling isn't, as the British writer & politician Edward Buller-Lytton famously said 'The pen is mightier than the sword"! In Part 4 - after Charlie Sloth speaks Akala raps an excerpt of his writings about the violent history of mans struggles through the centuries - it is a very moving piece, a masterpiece in history telling & rap, a one off that you'll never hear anywhere else. As he says, in Britain it's more a class issue. Today schools here are hugely multi-racial & everyone mixes together, in London there is very little divide in that respect, school uniforms help to keep all equal & religious aspects are taken into respect within the uniforms. Factually speaking regarding UK prisons, there are 117 prisons in England and Wales. His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) runs most of these (104) paid for by the tax payer while three private companies operate only 13 so it's not exactly like America to be fair. Our prison sentences are lighter & of course we no longer have the death penalty!
welcome brothers ,akala one of those artists that never leaves you , and resonates within us all 😀,love the channel by the way a ,been a subscriber for a while, great reactions all da time🎖
Akala has inspired a whole generation of younguns (and some olders) who are worth a look at and who have their own perspectives and positions on class, race, immigration, faith Wretch 32, Mic Righteous, Lowkey, Krept & Konan...
Great reaction lads, and you're not wrong, he is just next level, doin the whole thing double time to!🔥🔥🔥👏👏I'm late AF to this, trying to do your UK ish in order but I'm all over the shot, went from Ghetts, to the cypher, to here trying to get it in the right order🤦♂️😂jus gonna finish this Akala playlist,go back to the cypher and then finish the Ghetts playlist off,so expect a sh!tload of notifications from all over the place....👀🤷♂️😂💜
Just found your channel and subbed, great reaction! Part 4 is by far the best but you should definitely do them in order so you can see the progression over 10 Years, hope to see you drop them soon!
Akala is a fire as fuck MC. Each part of his FITB is just so good! As to the early question you about the UK school system and it essentially works like this... Pre-school (2-3 year old) Nursery (3-4 year old) Primary School (5-11 year old) - reception class through to year 6 Secondary school (11-16 year old) -Year 7 to Year 11 Then people have the choice to go to either 6th form (year 12-13), College or University. However, in England (specifically - not sure about the rest of the UK due to devolution of powers) young people must be in some form of education or training until the age of 18 however I think I was the last generation who was able to leave school at 16 years old and enter the work force full time and I'm late 30s.
Great reaction 👑 got me excited for what's next! My favourites are Kano - FITB and the remaining 3 Akalas... Stay on your UK journey.... its LIT 🔥 From a UK chick who's proud of the levels our rappers hit... smoky as f*uk 💯 Let's go....... x
wow! I have never seen this guy before this is FIRE! This is giving me the first time I heard Rap God Part 2 by Dax vibes... but its harder, it means something and it's more RAW! thank you for bringing this into my life! amazing! artwork!
No!!! he is not saying he dd not speak english well, he is saying despite being mega smart teachers would put him in classes with kids that did not speak english well because they assumed he was stupid, he could speak english fine. Freestyles in the UK are sometimes off the dome, but sometimes they are exclusive bars performed live in a studio(Daily Duppy/Fire in the Booth) , or even on the street (SBTV - rip Jamal)
I mean it's not. Asleep is still the opposite of awake but, I get what you're saying. Akala used to be the description of woke over 10 years ago. Now the definition has been stolen by feminists and trans activists. So unfortunely he isn't associated with that word anymore.
@@omarileith1 I get what your saying. The word woke is now a term given for a way of thinking....akala is far too awake to think like that.akala thinks for himself - woke people are told what to think and try to force it on others...........controlled minds. The word woke was chosen to help achieve this, but now the people are waking up to it
Akala is not talking about just getting traditional education, not just degrees and PHD's just to have them. He is saying get an education to be acquainted with truth, with systems and the agendas behind it, that affect you by design, so that it will lead you into a position of power over it. Knowledge is power and truth sets you free, basically.
