The song is a mockery of stereotypes. You know which ones, don't you? All those who fill the heads and mouths of the whole middle class around the world. Those who define a drug addict who makes rock. And that rock always means drugs, sex and violence. And that Italians are always hot and always say "mamma mia", preferably with a "broccolino" accent and making funny gestures. And the video teases the stereotypes by showing them to their fullest. I find it very funny.
This song was just a bit of fun. They actually did a genius vid explaining the lyrics. Basically it was their reaction with everything that happened when they won Eurovision. The stereotypes of 'the sexy Italians' but most of all how Damiano was falsely accused of doing cocaine during the voting. Or the fact he was a bit drunk during the press conference...so you get "I swear that I'm not drunk and I didn't do no drugs" Or how a girl came up to him after their win, asked for a selfie and then licked the side of his face "you want to touch my body, I say you're not allowed" Either way it was a quick bit of fun and only took them a few days to write... And they played with the stereotype of how bands supposedly hate the lead songer for getting all the attention. For the video I mean.
Thx. Others will explain the plot. For hardcore Måneskin-fans, this makes totally sence. For the English culture (US/Britain) lyrics are supposed to be entertainment, not to have a meaning, so this is not understandable.
Surely not their best songs and as per their own words it's just "a silly song" they wrote in a couple of hours immediately after coming back from Eurovision and inspired by the events occured there and the accusations towards Damiano, the vocalist. It's also about stereotypes and hate generated by such stereotypes (I swear I 'm not drunk and didn't take drugs) or (you ask why I'm so hot? Because I'm italiano). The video is about the stereotype of bands where the frontman gets all the attention and the other members are annoyed by his primadonna attitude (the t-shirt Damiano wears in the video reads "It's all about me") so each of them dream of killing him because "he's so fucking annoying"....
