The song is from the prospective of an older Damiano writing a letter to his 20 year old self. And he was talking about others (cowards) selling out and going mainstream instead of staying true to themselves.
They were so beautiful then! Just 3 years ago, before winning Eurovision. Everybody fully & properly dressed, no tattoes in view except the stylish one, etc. etc. Alas!😥😥
Damiano is playing during Thomas' solo just to avoid the overall sound to feel a bit empty. Nothing difficult and nothing loud but you can hear a second guitar part coming through right at the beginning of the solo. They performed the same song at X-Factor Italia in November 2020 and it was fantastic! Give it a listen if you're interested 🎶 (link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CV26s1O3Z30.html)
This song for me is advice to oneself but above all to those who listen to it to try to have a life always seeking the good of having a sincere and true open thought. Be yourself however you are and don't try to be like those people who put greed before having power over being who you are, despite the mistakes that each of us will normally make along the way. This song together with the "l'altra dimensione" from the album "il Ballo della Vita" that Damiano has tattooed on his chest are the basis of Maneskin thought. Tanks.
Oh and he is playing rhythm guitar during the solo you can hear it right at the end. He was never comfortable with doing it and doesn't any more. Usually whe n they perform this song now it is during the acoustic set with just him and Thomas.
When he asks "will you do this or that" he is actually talking to himself because his fear when growing is to make the bad choices that all the people he is judging have taken before him. He is wondering whether he will be brave enough to fight for his ideas The line "spiegare il colore a chi vede bianco e nero" (explain what colour is to people who only see black and white" is my favourite ❤
Thanks so much! I love these lyrics so much, they are so true, especially the words ‘Sarai qualcuno se resterai diverso dagli altri’ (you will be someone if you remain different from others) 💖
