Every contestant has to bring one original song. The singing is live and every contender represent one country. The contest is wached by more than 200 million people in over 50 countries including Australia and sometimes China and it is live. It is the oplimpics of the songs from 1956...The show has made some huge stars like Abba, Celine Dion, Loreen, Il Volo and huge names also entered in the competition like Patricia Kaas, Bonnie Tyler, Cascada and so on.
@@Beeg05 it's debated. But they won Sanremo (Italian music festival) and traditionally the winner goes to Eurovision. The song tself is controversial, not everyone is gonna like the sound, their looks and appearances. But that's normal, eh? In the end the majority of Italians wanted them in Eurovision and the majority of Europeans thought they are the best, and that's what matters in the end.
@@MuunNii yeah, but i think its normal. Im from sweden and a lot of people hated on our song because the guys who sings it is androgynous. I did not like the song myself, pretty bland. But i think it is common for people to hate on their own countries song
@@Beeg05 It depends, I guess! If it's a good song I'll support but I guess your right.. you judge your own country's song harder than others. This time I insaneoved Italys entry for being exactly what you don't expect from *Italy* (and Eurovision, in terms of winning acts). But especially "controversial" acts tend to polarize. There will always be people that don't want sexually open people to partake and will complain about it. F it, let them. They obviously don't speak for the majority. ;)
The guitarist broke a record: he's the first Eurovision winner to have been born in the 21st century (meaning 2001, because 2000 still counts as 20th century)
@@crazuhuge the year 2000 belongs to the twentieth century, the second millennium. The first year of the decade, of the century, of the millennium is the one with number 1.
@@1957angelo she actually had the idea to create the band, then obviously damiano, victoria and thomas(ethan joined the band later) started playing together but victoria had the idea.
Måneskin. Rock, raspy rapping without stutter, amazing lyrics, amazing outfit, incredible performance and stage presence. More than this? They are only 20 years old. They did all of that ON HEELS! 🔥
Yes what I like about Eurovision is its a song contest and not a singing contest so the competition is about songwriting and performance not just vocals
Blind Channel - Dark Side from Finland was the other rock song in the contest. Both songs are very nice. Italy is a nice winner this year. Greetings from the Netherlands
I fell in love with Blind Channel in the first semi final. I joined the dark side. Måneskin is also soo soo good! Love them both. Also another Dutchie here ✌🏼
The dislikes are mainly from France I think. They were second and they didn’t accept the fact that they didn’t win. They even said that the singer, Damiano, was using drogs such as cocain. Then Damiano did a drog test and it came out negative and the french were so embarrassed.
Yeah the journalist who made the claim he did drugs live was french and most likely butthurt they lost to Italy. I like french but their song thia year was just boring af tbh.
@@Gramasz Even if she plays it, it doesn't mean she can only play bass and that doesn't mean the guitarist has no say in the song's composiotion. Maybe where you come from a person can only play one instrument. Sorry for my English, it's not my language, but as you know, a person can only speak one language... 🤦♀️
I'm very happy italian Rocks likes to american peoples. Damiano David - voice 22 years Victoria De Angelis - Bass 21 years Thomas Raggi - Guitar 20 years Ethan Torchio - Drums 21 years New generation. I'm italuan and I'm very proud of them
Eurovision REQUIRES songs to be new and unique....remember this a song contest first not a "talent show". You can't use covers or samples of already produced songs. The interval acts are an exception as they do not participate. The Power of Water by Davina Michelle however is an original.
When a song wins ESC, people who wanted their country to win go and just put a dislike on the winning performance, that's why the performance video has lots of dislikes. If you check the official video, which has 27M views, the like/dislike ratio is really better.
I watched the contest on German TV and when this performance came up the commentator announced it like "if I can offer a recommendation... turn your speakers all the way up!!!" Good advice :D
I'm from Italy and it's surreal seeing how much attention this Italian rock band is receiving from all over the world. It's surreal because we aren't famous for rock bands that make it abroad. Greetings from Italy.
Yess this was soo good! The bass player is a girl, she carries the whole song imo. Very White Stripes inspired. Also can't wait for your France reaction. She was my second favorite together with Switzerland. Ukraine is a whole trip lol, but actually really good and impressive. Iceland is super fun and catchy. I believe all these countries ended up being top 5 or top 10.
Yes, they were all top 5. Italy 1st, France 2nd, Switzerland 3rd, Iceland 4th, and Ukraine 5th The others in the top 10 were: Finland 6th, Malta 7th, Lithuania 8th, Russia 9th, and Greece and Bulgaria joint 10th (although due to the tiebreaking system, Greece alone is recognised as 10th due to getting more televotes)
It's fun how you're saying "When you're in a competition like this and you wanna win, this is how you do it. ..." because italian songs are not chosen to take part in the Eurovision at all. No-one here makes songs with this purpose, because we have another contest (Sanremo) in which the parameters are totally different and more intimate, pop, ballad kind of song always win. And it's that winner with that same song that goes to Eurovision, if he/her/they want to. So it was incredible and shocking to some that they were not only able to win Sanremo Festival in Italy, but also they brought Eurovision back in here after 30 long years!!!!! Go Maneskin ♥
The italian contestant at eurovision has to win the internal italian music contest first! so they previously won Sanremo (the italian contest) with Zitti and Buoni and then went to the eurovision with the same song!
Actually they have so many dislikes cause people probably wanted their country to win or French people who can't accept the fact they came second. In fact if you check the original video from the official channel they have a lot less (something like 15k against over 500k likes)
Thankyou from Turin! I’m happy you enjoyed our band! They’re so young and they reached great results! Imagine how much they can still grow and improve, right? W rock’n roll!!!!🇮🇹❤️🎸🤟🏽🎇
I'am happy that Italy won the Eurovision because the jury gave them low points but the public wasn't on the same level and make Italy won . that's democracy. Haha. Greets jacco from Holland
about the pronunciation... Måneskin is a Danish word. actually related with the English word MOON. "the light of the Moon" it should be pronounced "Monesken" but everyone says Maneskin. (the bass player is half-danish... )
Great reaction ! This is the best reaction to this Eurovision performance, and it doesn't come from Europe :-) (And I have seen them all...) This act took me by surprise, it left me speechless with a fast heart beat.... quintessential voice, sickening beat, bass, incredible chemistry between band members (female bass player just adds the 'twang') - and they are only 20/21 years old - less than half my age :-) This explains also the energy. Sadly, I am addicted to Maneskin now - I can recommend their performance of the Killers "Somebody" on X factor 4 years ago, when they were all teenagers, simply stunning.
Ciao Linda. Italia.
Great reaction guys! You two are now honorary Americans in the Eurovision fanclub! I hope you get more and more into the contest in future and maybe follow future contests live, perhaps even visit us here in Europe and come to see the show live in the stadium, you won't regret it! It has been one of my passions for most of my life, since I was a kid, and I just adore that it has such a rich cultural history dating back over 65 yrs!
@@-_YouMayFind_- I've liked BTS for 5 years and I also like Måneskin because I'm Italian and I've been following them for a year already ... these are musical tastes ... I'm also a fan of Suicide Silence ....What can I do if I like good music and good looking guys 😏
Heeyy thank you for reacting to them! I fell in love with them during Eurovision, they also have some songs in english (like "I wanna be your slave" or "Chosen")
they are amazing!!!! you should really listen to other songs from them ¡ - I wanna be your slave - Torna a casa - Coraline - L´altra dimensione those are one of the most famous
