Love love love this. Stories and music from back home always reminds me that there is no place like Hawai’i, like home. This just makes me miss home even more. Mahalo

We are great fans of the Makaha Sons in all their permutations. We started going to venues to see them in the early 1980's. I think it was just after Bruddah Iz left. We were fans of many artists and groups and still are. Makaha Sons came to Berkeley a few years back after Uncle John had passed and Moon was no longer performing. The group looks like the same trio Uncle Jerome had put together then. Anyway, they entertained us royally with all the gorgeous traditional Hawaiian music our Berkeley crowd loves so much. In fact it was so ono that we almost missed the garage closing with our car inside it. We didn't know till this interview that Skippy and Iz were related to Moe Keawe, who was the most beautiful singer and actor. We followed him around like little puppy dogs, too. We love Uncle Jerome and he is a very funny man. We do miss John and Moon, but the music is right on as it has always been. BTW: I don't think you needed to be masked as you were outside and well separated. Hard to read lips through masks.
