I have always been curious to how Shri Rāmnād Sreenivāsa Iyengār’s “Ninnu Kōri” tāna varnam would sound if I changed the Rishabham (Ri) and Dhaivatham (Dha) notes in the original Mōhanam scale. Here is my version of singing this classic varnam on Lord Sreenivāsā in the rāgams Revagupti (showcased in the 1st speed within the poorvāngam and uttharāngam of the varnam) and Mōhanam (showcased in the 2nd speed within the poorvāngam and uttharāngam of the varnam).
Kind reminder to all my fellow musicians - this is just an experimental showcase of changing notes and exploring different rāgams while preserving the original melodic composition of the composer. Please do not perform this varnam the way that I have done unless you have a specific reason (like I do) or are under the guidance of a very experienced Guru, in order to pay respect to the composer’s work.
Hope you all enjoy it! :)
