Picked up this M-1903 Springfield Parade Rifle at a bargain price at my local gun store. #1903springfield #ww1usrifle #03spingfield #paraderifle #ceremonialrifle
It's a piece of history exactly like it is. Parade rifles are now part of the 1903's history. Look for a "sporterized" 1903 to rebuild to rebuild to military configuration. You already have a good barrel and replacement stocks are available too.
Have your gun smith strip the parkerization off of the last 5 inches of the rifle and dark blue/black it just like the old barrel, and it will be a sleeper-great shooter.
@@fuddlife Yes, the best thing is to ask the gunsmith to find out the exact bluing method of the old barrel. I've seen this method in many sporterized M1903's, so it must be a relatively easy method for gunsmiths. Or else you'll have to replace everything and parkerize it! Better to just blue the last 5 inches of the new barrel. You'll have a parade looking rifle, that can shoot 1 inch groups... probably can win some money with it! "My shot out parade rifle can out shoot your surplus M1903, I'll betcha 100 bucks!"
it's beautiful. The USAF funeral detail rifles were like this in the 1970s minus the gold. (Yeah. The SAMTU shop cleaned & maintained those too.) *Lots* of highly-corrosive ammunition went thru them before the 1970s. Two things: headspace, and that sight being loose means you probably ought to consult a tap-and-die specification. On your topwood, glass-lining is not a bad idea.
I used to talk shit on all the plated ak’s until I actually got my hands on one and found out the plating takes up for loose tolerance, it was nickel on all the moveable parts and gold on the reciver, cycled like butter.
@@fuddlife nice, you could in theory swap out the chromed and gold parts to make it look more standard but i personally think the chrome and gold make it pop
I like the black bluing for sure but the gold is over the top for me. I haven't decided what to do yet. Thanks for your opinion and thanks for watching!
