I remember having Rhino, and accidentally shooting the missle straight into my father's coffee. To his credit, he didn't flinch. He just calmly handed back to me while my mom laughed.
Just started getting into MASk in the past few weeks. What a toy line. Was a big fan since the 80's but for some reason never really considered tracking down the toys. Glad that I tried a few. I love the line.
Awesome vehicle! I never saw it in the stores over here, or any of my friends having it though. But as I mentioned before, I had the gas station, and Im not even sure if this truck would fit through the garage LOL! The gas station was pretty huge and awesome toy, and had a lot of really cool features on it. But the thing about it was that it was stationary (duh). When my friends and I were playing with the MASK toys, there was one rule! One vehicle and one figure only each person. Stupid me, I chose the gas station, thinking only about the superior firepower. Guess what? Everybody else chose a toy that could move, and EVERY freakin' battle happened too far away from me to take part in it LOL! The one figure I had could only ride shotgun with one of the others :D
love these retro mask stuff. most definitely would love to see some jace stuff. the line up of 80's cartoon block i remember watching the same line up good times
Thanks for all the reviews Peugh man so many memories playing with my Rhino. Wish I still had it along with Gator, Condor and Firecracker. Mask would be huge today if it ever was rebooted..
That's been a great watch Peaugh i.hit all of these vids Mask was always super dope. I never had Rhino either my friend did so I remember him fondly. As wanting him lol
I second that motion! I'd love to see either a reboot of the show or movie! A live action movie/show would probably be cool too! With the technologies within the movie industry we have today, who knows what would come out of it. They made a horrible attempt on the G.I. Joe movies, so I hope noe one repeats that failure! I'd also like to see a live action movie version of He-Man, Thundercats, Brave Starr and Voltron!
I hope you get ahold of Boulder hill. That was probably the best play set I ever had as a kid. The way you were able to manipulate the controls to quickly change into defense mode was maybe a more fun transformation than any Transformer I had owned in those years. That Rhino sure looks clean, what an amazing lot you came across all around.
Had one as a kid broke it headed myself but about 12 years ago at a garage sale I found another one complete and paid $20 for it the only small problem is the passenger side mirror is a little loose but all I know is I have a MASK Rhino again. As always a good review and I wish I had an Alex Sector figure because Rhino feels incomplete without him
Hasbro apparently registered a new license for MASK in 2015, so maybe this line will return in the near future, a crossover with GI Joe could be amazing.
They will be making a comeback. There's a new comic series from IDW coming soon. There are plans for a shared movie universe, Marvel style, with GI Joe, MASK, Rom, Visionaries, and Micronauts. People are already complaining about the new comic series.
well they already have a couple M.A.S.K. references in both G. I. Joe and Transformers...for the Joe line they have a Matt Tracker figure as part of the 30th anniversary line, and they came out with a R.H.I.N.O. vehicle/playset for the Rise of Cobra movie toyline. then for TF they referenced M.A.S.K. in Transformers Prime season three when Prime scanned his new form after being repaired by the Forge.
nice retro reviews, I was not able to get this guy's back in the days. loved the cartoon as well. If you ca get your hands on venoms, Snake oil truck it's a command center as well a good match for rhino.
Oh I do love that vehicle! I recalled that the FIREFLY was overproduced, PLUS many of my friends in the caribean had the BUZZAR, RAZORBACK, and few other cards like the RAVEN and that PURPLE car that could be used under water! And there after we were watching VISIONARIES and C.O.P.S which were crazy at that time.....HEHEHE BIONIC SIX and KENNEL CENTURIONS WERE FAR more lovable to collect because of their size! Thanks a BUNCH, this memories still in me.....>MOM MISS THAT G1 ROBOT NAME "MISFIRE" Can I get another ONE!? PLS :-)))))
I was really hoping for one of my personal favorites: Goliath. Or Slingshot. Those were the two I played with the most as a kid. I kinda wish I still had Goliath. Even if it were just the car, Goliath I. The truck, Goliath II, looks kinda derpy to me now, but that F1 car is still a sexy beast, and the flight mode is one if the few that's semi-believable.
About 12 years ago for $20 at a garage sale I got one of these complete its later release the right side mirror is a little loose I don't care the fact I have a mask Rhino again is awesome.
Man, what was with heroic semi-trucks? There's a philosophical, societal, essay in that about how, semi-trucks are semi-heroes because without them, product distribution would be severely impacted, and how terrible a thing that'd be for a consumerist, capitalist society.
add transformers in there as well and you had the same Saturday as I did :-) I have rhino somewhere in the attic too probably in bits though I think I used it too much as a kid.
Did Matt ever use that particular mask on the show? I've seen a couple of episodes with that mask, but I can't remember if it was ever used on screen. What is it, Spectrum II ?
Ultraflash. It was used a few times on the show. As I recall, it was a light effect mask: lasers, strobe effects, blinding flashes, etc... It wasn't as versatile as Spectrum, and wasn't used nearly as often. It was, however, the mask used for the series logo.
I have a dynamic way to display action figures. I think of it as putting the ACTION BACK IN TO ACTION FIGURES. Why spend so much money on figures and not be able to recreate action scenes from comics or movies or even TV shows. I would like to produce the display product but would like to know what you think of it, and others before spending 10's of thousands of dollars.
The last 20 minutes of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" was the end of the show? What, did you get like two episodes a day where you lived? I mean yeah, the last 20 minutes would be the end of the show, sure. But it was a half hour show, twenty minutes would be most of the show. Well, technically the show would actually be less than a half hour since you had commercial breaks. And I don't care what folks say now, commercial breaks were shorter back in the '80s. I've seen stuff on DVD and online that I watched back then that for a half hour show would be like 24 to 26 minutes long once commercial breaks are removed and stuff I've seen today that's 20 to 22 minutes long once those breaks are erased.
Leader class movie Optimus Prime needs to repainted as Rhino with the MASK logo head design for the head and Movie Bumblebee needs to redone as Thunderhawk with Spectrum head.
