That's SO amazing how it gets hot with just water! Chemical reactions are da bomb! Also, it's REALLY cool that it tastes good too! I mean, only a pound a a half? You could EASILY load up 15+ of these in your backpack and that's 15 days of food! And good food!
In the Canadian Military we use IMP. (improvised meal packs) the breakfast ones are pretty gross but the lunch and dinner ones and really good. They even come with candy bars. And the Heater packs will save you in the winter time when your in the field. I dump the water put and put it in my parka. Keeps warm for a good half hour. If you guys want to get imps or mres, join the military and get them for free. You can find them online but I heard they get pricey.
I have some MREs i thought your suppose to keep them in the heat bag for 12 mins to insure you've cooked out any harmful bacteria. Just curious whats your MREs say for that application?
thats a huge pack for 1 meal. there is something called compressed biscuit. it's small but it contains tons of energy and when u drink water, it expands in ur stomach so it makes u feel full.
Believe you can get them at camping stores and military surplus stores. Though I don't think they are military MREs. My mom worked with the military for a few years and brought some home once. Color of the package is the same, but they didn't have pictures on it, was all words. Was fun to play with, but since I can't eat the food most people do, I only really ate the snack portions of them.
They have gotten better for instance, veggie burger tastes like McDonalds burgers and tuna is brand name Starkist tuna. but your right veggie meals arent always the best in mre form.
For everyone wandering how he got them, here are some ways he got his hands on them: 1) If he is in the military or a friend in the military he probably asked for some 2) He probably got them from a local army surplus store. 3) Amazon sells them.
MRE's taste quite good. Their just like food but packaged in brown plastic bags SEALED tightly and could contain chocolate to spread your bread, skittles, lemonaid powder, and so on.
i can agree that the cheese spread is the best part. My friend Nikita bought me the same one in this video and it was delicious. I wish they served them at schools.
Very informative I've had an mre before...it was a spaghetti one ( which was delicious )...didn't have taster's choice coffee though...mine had a little white packet ( slightly larger than a salt pack ) of instant coffee ( stuff was stupid strong ( need like 12-16 oz of water for it otherwise its like espresso strength ))
I think you can take one but you have to remove the flame-less ration heater. It's produces vapors that contain hydrogen, which is flammable, and displaces oxygen.
Or if he has a military base near him, and he has family in the military and/or a friend in the military he could have got it from the PX store, my 2 step brothers had a late step father in the Army(died at the pentagon on 9/11), and they would go to the PX every so often, and a few times brought back some M.R.E. , and one of them even had beef Jerky in it.
this food should only be used as a last resort. it was designed for a war fighter working under stressful situations. I give them out during storm duties and i urge the elderly not to eat too many they have lots of sodium along with the calories. BTW How did bottom feel about that Sloppy Joe MR KGB? I steer clear of those.
MREs are a huge improvement over the older C-Rations the Army issued us back in the 1970s and early 1980s. Soldiers older than myself had told me the C-Rats were much better than their predecessor the K-Rations. The only MREs I didn't like were the vegetarian ones. The vegetarian ones are awful tasting.
I love MREs I used to eat them everyday. My dad was in the army and every month he would come back and bring enough MREs for me to at least eat one everyday until he came back. :-)
Ever had one? The desserts and drinks are pretty good, but the main meals are terrible in my opinion, but I once knew this guy who liked them better than normal food.
The US military made it illegal to purchase MRE's as a civilian. Not that it is strictly enforced and there are many brands of civilian sold MRE's that can be found in gun shops or surplus stores. It looks like you have a civilian pack as the military ones are solid green with black writing. Sometimes you can find the military issue MRE's at gunshows and some surplus stores despite them being illegal.
Samantha Montgomery I don't know why.?. it's not a new thing. I found that out around they year 2000(maybe in the late 90's) or so when I went to a gun shop to buy some. They had civilian MRE's and I asked if he had military issue packs and he told me they could no longer purchase them legally to sell to the public. The civilian ones are actually better and taste better as well as more of a variety. There are all kinds of civilian food survival boxes like a 30 day food supply that is basically enough packs to feed a family for a month. They even have them up to a year box of MRE type meals that can sustain a family in a survival situation like loss of power and all you need is water. I'll have to find the company that makes them because they have all kinds of products that are for survival but geared towards families. It got big because the whole rise of apocalypse peppers. Even systems for the house like water systems you can install that work during a complete grid shut down. Even low noise power generators in case a complete grid shut down that you install that allow you to run your home like nothing happened. If you watch that show Doomsday Peppers they have commercials for all that stuff when it's on.
***** That would actually be an interesting test or comparison. See how the different brands compare for taste, selection, servings etc. That would be cool to post your result if you can get the different ones.
I'm confused though. He said they on average weigh 70 grams, or 1 lb 7 oz. 70 grams is 2.5 oz. 1 lb 7 oz would be 644 grams. Did he mean 700 grams, or 1 lb 9 oz?
I have to say M.R.E.s are not that bad. When I went on camping trips with my father and grandfather, we would bring them and eat them at night. One of them was about 13 years old (maybe older) and was still good.
I do like your videos, but just from watching some of them recently. You should check the editing between clips a little bit more. Sometimes you cutout when words are not finished.
KGB is there any way you can send me one to try because I relley don't have the money and the time to wait for it to come if I get it from eBay?so answer please or if you can find me a cheap deal
