Glad I found your channel. Have lived in the States for the past 20 odd years, and have never been back to the UK. But I will be moving back to Scotland at the end of the year to retire. This channel gives me a good idea of what is on the shelves and prices, so thanks for posting.
Scotland is not as cheap as the UK. But its like M&S you pay for what you get. Elgin area is nice and so is the Glen Eagles area. You can have afternoon tea in the Glen Eagles Hotel. Now that set me back a few pounds lol. Think it was £250 quid for the 4 of us. But worth every penny real quality and spectacular settings.
On Sundays, my brother and I visit our elderly mom (91!) and treat her to a nice lunch. A couple of weeks ago, we took these Kiyiv pies, all 3 of us really enjoyed them!
For those remarking on the cost, M&S do a full range of pies, These are their GastroPub top-of-the range but they do others down to about £2. Their GP range also has chicken and leek and beef and ale. All 3 are gorgeous.
How could you resist not grabbing pie out of oven and taking a bite . Looked excellent . I like shopping at M&S , lost two stones as can’t afford full meals there . Price cheaper than Charlie Bighams stuff now
@@BaldFoodieGuy Italy wins hands down Bologna, Venice and Florence. St Marks square is stunning. Said to my wife its 25 euro for a coffee sitting outside this posh gaff. And we both agreed and said its worth it. Only one other place for great food is Vegas but that's out because exchange rate sucks these days.
Can't remember if you told us how much it was! lol The things you put yourself through to keep us entertained and informed 😱 Firstly you nearly bankrupt yourself, then you crash your diet plans by tasting a pie containing just short of 800 Calories! Mind you, it looked bloody tasty, did that. I could almost smell it coming through the screen! Definitely something to spoil myself with once in a blue moon! Brilliant vlog, yet again. Thanks.
Bloody hell! Huge shafftage there for the consumer! Thats outrageous! Not surprised m&s have been shutting shops, with them prices no one will shop! Doesn't look much either,i bet its nice though. Like your honesty in opinion as always 👍
Have you been food shopping recently? ALL the shops are raising prices across all items. Last week I got some cherries from M+S - today the same cherries and weight had gone up by 50 pence.
Your completely right ..prices depend on where you live .. here in Jersey that pie would be at least £1.50 more then UK .. but it’s relative … it’s a treat , special occasion on a Sunday /saterday night .. not an everyday kinda food .. having said that here M & S is one of our cheapest .. we don’t have Sainsbury , Tesco , Lidl , Aldi etc
Cheers Gaz for explaining why you have 2 ovens , also shame you dont have a Waitrose as for £3.70p you can get a huge chicken pie that would feed a family , I would not pay £5 for 1 small pie unless its a special occasion lol
Great review Gaz as always it looked nice but the price I think the pies from the other week were better value and for me a simple person they would be the ones every time and not forgetting it was only 250grams so you would have to add a lot more for a meal 🤷♂️ keep up with the great reviews 👏👏👍👍
I agree, pie is expensive but if you have a fiver burning a hole in your pocket then you could spend it on worse things. Your video gives a fair review and on balance i would buy it as a treat and enjoy every bit of it. Long live the farm shop pie. Karl
Great review as usual. I always make myself feel better by thinking how much you would pay in a nice pub for a pie like that with some homey chips and veg. Round my way in the South West probably £10 to £16 or £17. Obviously, you are paying for the lovely pub ambience and atmosphere, but when I put my Virtual Reality goggles on at home, I can be anywhere.
M&S oh yes, we used to do our Christmas food shopping there years ago, that brings back memories, will definitely try one of those in September, what a great video thanks,😊
Glad you enjoyed it. That's AU$ 9.35, We get a Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney Pie 425g for AU$10 .50 at Woolworths here. But I guess it's a cheese and chalk comparison. Do love steak and kidney more than chicken Kiev.
Something remarkably similar available in Aldi! When I used to go to the farmers market [before Leeds council killed it] the woman I got my meat from told me she supplied Tesco, M+S and Aldi - they all got the same product!
I hear this a lot. People slate the Aldi meat for example but someone in a comment section here used to work for a butchery (they mentioned the name) and he said it all just went to the different supermarkets. I honestly think that a lot of the nicer quality people talk about with M&S is down to the packaging and the way they present the shopping experience, as I've had plenty of ready meals from there that were nothing special, and the luxury pies you get at other supermarkets are probably no worse than this. I'd rather get a Charlie Bigham one for the same price anyway!!
£5 for something the size of Scotch Pie? I agree with your conclusion, and like another commentator has said only 32% chicken. But it has to be expensive, as it not just any old gastropub pie, its a Marks & Spencers' Gastro Pub pie.
Too pricey for me, I'd rather spend a fiver at my local butchers and get two for that price and they're much better pies too. Thanks for another honest review 💜💜💜
I love your videos - very ‘down to earth style’, no one should complain if you talk whilst eating! Anyway, your expressions give away a lot. Yeah, I agree M & sc are a tad expensive, but for us, they are great thing, because I used to be an amateur chef, but can no longer cook, because arthritis has robbed me of the use of my hands (I am over 70), but miss the meals which I used to cook. My wife doesn’t like cooking, so the only way we can get good easy meals at home is either from M& S or Waitrose. A request; could you do s review on Charley Bigham’s meals? I find some better than others - he does some good pies, but yes, they too are expensive!
How much was it Gaz? 🤣 …. I thought that looked cracking though to be honest! I get a homemade Pie from my local market on a Friday on my day off for 3 notes… there cracking! I keep missing out on there Pork and Stuffing one, need to go early! …. Smithy
Hi Bald, M&S food is some of the best big chain supermarket food out there, but after trying this pie the other day it left a nazsti taste in my mouth! Keep the vlogs coming because as far as food related reviews go you dont go overboard and come across as a pleasant,Funny and most of all honest which means everything when doing these food vlogs.
Hi there, another great video like always I hope you’re well. I am seeing Vw Callum probably have I have done one from Mum. I think he’s up on the channel now. Thank you ever so much for sharing with us and have a great content from you and I hope you are well.
M&S do some proper chicken kyivs that are really good in the same range. Not cheap but really good, actually seem good value compared to £5 for this pie. Love a proper chicken kyiv when it's decent chicken and not where they make a blended up paste to form into a big chicken nugget type thing.
M&S do so-so "proper" chicken keivs, as we have some every now and again. But seriously, they aren't wonderful. The cutting through to find no oozing of herb butter coming out, but just a still solid block of it inside doesn't really cut it; as any chicken kiev recipe video here on RU-vid, used for comparison, can confirm.
Great review that does look absolutely delicious but it would have to be a really special meal wouldnt it for that price. They do whole meal deals that work out a lot better...but it does look yum!
The pie looked good. Filled properly with no gap at the top and no slurry. Still a fiver is a bit much for me. Maybe a treat pie, if such a thing exists
It does look very good, indeed. It is one of the few products that looked almost the same as on the package. With HP sauce bold and peas and asparagus, would make it fantastic.😊
Much better to make your own and cheaper. You can put as much and whatever you like in. These shop pies no matter whose they are never have the meat in them
That looks great Gareth. Well worth trying out as an occasional treat like you mentioned. But 795 calories? Wow! But from the look on your face when you tried it said it all - so I'll give it a go, making sure I eat nothing else that day 😊. Cheers Gateth. 👍.
How do fella. Im a new subsciber and loving ur content.! Any chance of doing some egg comparisons as they have such stark comparisons and an egg isnt just an egg these days and the prices have gone so high that it is so disheartening when you crack them open only to see a pale yellow yolk and not a bright orange yolk.!! Please, please as i love my eggs and i am finding it very hard to find decent ones in this day and age. Thanks in advance.!! 👋😁
I have life hack you might do a comparison with. I like to rehydrate pizza and pastries by drizzling water over the top. I literally run pizza under the tap and drain excess off. It creates a much better texture I think. You will have to cook it 5 mins or less longer though.
I have never had any thing bad from M&S it always test good it is grat to see you chanal is coming up 80.000 subscribers is it you yourself we like our the content you put out both go to get in a very nice way 😉
I think B & S goes well with M & S. Also, maybe shoppers there have extra finance to spend. Great video. Support your local pie shops. Peace be unto you.
I have a Sage oven similar to yours but it does not have the air fryer function which means it is price wise less expensive to buy - fortunately it was bought as an Xmas present and since then I have not used my main oven or grill - all I can say it is awesome on every function - cost wise it’s as cheap as chips , easy to clean and ideal for cooking. I use baking paper rather than tin foil to protect the oven tray. I’m not sure how many people I have bored telling people about it but the message as got out not to mention the word “cooking” to me ! 😂
Bet your hand made a quiver paying lol. Expensive, but if it’s good and as good as it sounds and by your review then to me,it’s worth it. I know I be going soon so I will commit this one to memory- broccoli, and jersey potatoes would be my perfect choice for this pie . Awesome as always sir - Glenda dale Jones 🙌👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My mother used to give me a ten shilling note, and I'd run to get fish and chips for the whole family. And there was 6 of us. The guy would ask if I wanted threepenny or fourpenny lots, that's the size of the chips.
When I were a lad, you could take your Mrs out to the pictures, followed by a dance, buy a pack of 20 cigs, fish & chips on the way home....and still have change out of a fiver! 😱😁
The pie is pricey but it better for you than one of thoughs burgers that cost over 8 pounds take away. And at lease you liked the taste of ot so why not every now and then.
😂 when you said Dick Turpin my brain went into Adam Ant! Stand and deliverrrrrr😂 I've had one of these and it was a definite "pull ya pants down" moment but it was nice... The pie not the pulling of the errr well you know (cough)
