Divide by 100 then multiply that answer by 12, that'll tell you how much salt is in that 12 gram seasoning. The answer is 3.948 grams, so basically 4g of salt in that little pack. I basically do my own version of that Munchie box that takes a little bit more work but tastes great. Spicy coated chicken strips from Iceland, Tesco or wherever cooked in the air fryer. Chips cooked in the air fryer. Then in a frying pan I throw in some diced onion, chopped chilli and diced peppers and cook until lightly caramelised. Throw the chips and chicken into the frying pan along with your seasoning and stir fry for a few minutes. Bloody lovely.
My girl friend introduced your show to me and I am now hooked. Although I live in Canada, purchasing might be out of the question, you make me homesick for my beloved Yorkshire. Looking forward to watching many shows in the future.
When you first said it was £5, I thought that was expensive, but it would definitely make two meals for me, so £2.50 a meal is all right. I like that everything is in separate pieces and in separate bags, so you don't have to cook everything at once. I may give this a try.
Loved the video would do chips with my own sauce, onions and Pak choi because I can't eat a lot of salt. Loved the Muppet show, and I loved the Swedish chef, thank you for the video xx
Quite amusing, as usual. I have only ever once bought a meal from Iceland, so I can’t really comment, but half a kilogram of ‘chips’ is a hell of a lot,. The word salt can refer to many chemical compounds, but in culinary terms in this country, usually refers to sodium Cloride (NaCl), food enhancer usually refers to monosodium glutamate - (another salt), often used to brighten cooked greens & enhance other flavours. Love your take on food which is clearly aimed at the bachelor or single person. Personally, I used to love cooking, but not if I was the only person eating.
Great video as usual, I like using grease proof paper to protect the tray. Tip - you put the food on the dull side of the aluminium foil not the shiney side.
That's being proven to be a myth. There is no difference between the shiny side and the dull side. The dull side only exists because of the process making it. Its caused by the roller that stretches it. Btw former chef here.
recently watched the munch boxes you got from aldi I've tried them myself, salt and pepper chilli chicken and chips and the southern fried chicken and chips with gravy both really good for the price, this one is slightly more expensive but it looks like you get loads more in the box, those fries ( reluctant to call them chips) needed a lot longer in the over they looked raw
If you buy the breaded chicken breast chunks from iceland cook in air fryer or oven then in a wok add the hot cooked chicken to already cooked veg ..you can make your own also.Thats what we do and salt and pepper mix is from a chinese vlogger on youtube..dont want to say who unless you okay it.,dont want to get in bother but its really that simple you can also do breaded shredded salt and pepper chicken iceland again ..great video as usual ..
That KMC salt and pepper seasoning is bob-on... Stick some onions, chillis, garlic & ginger in a hot wok with a modest dash of sesame oil (or some 'stir fry' oil), add some air fried Aunt Bessie's chips and toss the lot together with some of that KMC seasoning & light soy sauce. Same result as a chippy at a fraction of the cost of their salt and pepper chips!
Loved the Muppet's back in the late 70s Gaz, especially the two old guys in the balcony, Waldorf and Statler as well as the mad scientist Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant, Beaker and Miss Piggy doing her karate on poor Kermit - Hiiiii-Yaa !!!! Telly seemed way better back then, especially the old sitcoms, game shows and comedians but sadly the PC/Woke/Snowflake Brigade have put an end to some of those. Regarding the chicken, I may have a go at doing a homemade version - Fry some onions with fresh sliced chillies and diced peppers in a wok with some salt and a bit of honey then batter some diced chicken fillets and deep fry. Sounds 'spot on' to me 😀😀😀
If you try to cook crispy chicken alongside onions and peppers the chicken is bound to go a bit soggy as both the onions and peppers have a high water content. You'd need to have the chicken on a separate tray. Maybe I'm lazy but that meal seems like too much of a faff for me :P
Hi , I looked with a degree of amusement when you read the ingredients on the back of the box, the bit about this may contain bones not suitable for vegetarians. If person was a vegetarian would they really be eating shredded chicken in the first place???
id of thought you'd of done it in the air fryer but i didnt think id have coriander but it is miss leading having no chlli but try putting the salt and chilli seasoning on before you cook it and sprinkle it over the chips 😊
Great video 👍,,, probably as easy to make your own salt n pepper mix like the Chinese , a full bag of chicken strips n a bag of chips from Iceland would cost same and you would have twice the amount..
You can buy that salt and pepper seasoning at Home Bargains and elsewhere for not much more than £1, so if you like this sort of food you’re better off doing it yourself. This is ok if there’s a couple of you and you’re feeling lazy though 🤣 I’ve been using greaseproof for years Gareth, I’m surprised more people don’t do it! Hopefully you’ll get the word out
Putting frozen chips on a cold tray delays the cooking from underneath as it's going to take a few extra minutes for the tray to reach oven temperature.
Hi Gary. We live in Hertfordshire and your video tempted us to buy a fish and ch supper. Two regular sized cod and one standard size portion of chips cost us £18.50! We had no side dishes. Shows you how much us Southern types are ripped off!
Different topic completely but I would strongly recommend doing a review of Crestwoods cheese n onion pasties. They're "I'm new" in Aldi. Honestly better than Greggs imo
My boys love those salt and pepper chips they are pricy mind....I forgot to mention the other day..I was in the loft and found a receipt from Morrisons from 2002 £79 I could not believe how much was on there for that price! It definitely goes to show how much food and quilty life has decreased in the UK... unbelievable.
Iceland do bags of the chicken on its own so you could easily knock it up yourself but it’s a decent price for two and convenient …. I bet it would be amazing with a bit of mayflower curry sauce as well 😍
Lynn here on Hubby's phone 😏, Hiya , Wooo this is a good un 😊👍, looks right tasty 😋, I'm gonna give that one a go for sure , we used to get the bags of stir fry ( Chinese) from Iceland , wanted one last weekend and they don't do them anymore, gutted 😏, We'll try that this week , Thanks Kim 👍😊, Take Care 😃
Somewhere near the photo, it will say 'serving suggestion', that way they can 'tart' it up adding things that aren't in the box, like the red and green chili and coriander. Just more advertising bullshit. But am glad you liked it anyway. 😋
Might buy one on a Tuesday as over 60s get 10% off at Iceland Made a pigs ear mixing them ingredients up on the plate. Ive got Swedish relatives and they sound like that impersonation.
I would have put the veggies on one third of the second tray with the chicken on the other 2 thirds so the water coming out of the vegetables don't make chicken soggy.
Or just do chicken in air fryer by itsself. With veg and chips in oven. Or as you said 2 batches of chips, one of chicken and 1 of the vegetables. In air fryer.
Haha coriander is definitely marmite. Edit: the way things are going, they'll just sell us the box and tell us "add your own" 😂 You said the chicken was a bit soggy, might have been the onions releasing water boss.
