As an Iowa farm boy, when I had time, I would run down to Toolesburo Landing and sit and watch the tows go by. I watched amazed at the crews navigated the Mississippi around the bends and followed the marked bouy routes. The whole time those big diesels were singing away shouldering the load. I also lived catching them lock thru at Muscatine or Keokuk, and seeing them maneuver Such large vessel in tight spaces. Glad I grew up close enough to of experienced these things.
