Disassembly of the M2A1.
I do not claim to be 100% on everything, this is a guide to help better understand the weapon. Please follow the policies and procedures for who you fall under.

Thank you shipmate for your training. It is very helpful for Navy gunners to learn about the weapon. I wanted to make a comment on your assembly video, but couldn’t because of your settings. One thing I wanted to share is about the sear slide installation. It is true that it doesn’t matter what direction you slide it in on the bolt when firing it manually. However, when it is fired remotely via a solenoid such as a helicopter, it must be installed from left to right so the solenoid actuator if installed on the the receiver window can fire the weapon by depressing the sear slide when cocked to release the firing pin under spring tension. You can see what I mean when testing by moving the sear slide to the right while it is cocked. I didn’t know this until recently. Just thought I would share the knowledge. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the info, I’ll try to figure out how to put up a notice on the video to reflect that info. I never worked with a remotely fired system so I didn’t know about that.

I like your vids a lot. BUT if you are going to present a training event then do it right: MARINE CORPS TM 02498D-OI page d WARNING SUMMARY: Stand to one side when removing Backplate. Please call the parts properly. There are several major nomenclature errors in this vid such as: It is not a CHARGING HANDLE, it is a HANDLE, RETRACTING SLIDE. You might take the time to teach your gunners to properly load the gun. Notice the shiny impact damage at 6:50 on the top of the bolt back by the cam path. That is from your gunners opening the Top Cover then lifting the Extractor, loading the ammo over to the Cartridge Stop instead of just past the Pawl belt, Feed . I know you did the load wrong when I see you trying to pound the Top Cover Plate shut. Because the gunner loaded the ammo wrong, the Lever (Not sure where you got the name you called it ) migrates out of alignment. The damage you see on the top of your bolt is from the lever cam lob being pounded into the bolt. Oh wait what's this? You are not permitted to load with the top cover open. Side load only, cover closed!

Thank you for the feedback, to touch on some of your points of interest. That is a good safety notice to stand to the side in case the user forgets to let the bolt forward. As for nomenclature issues, I do place in the description that I do not claim to be 100% accurate and it is up to the user to verify with the reference they are required to use. A good example would be the charging handle, when ordering parts it could be listed as 'handle, retracting slide', but for a maintenance card, it might say, 'pull the charging handle back...' in a certain step. Also different branches might train their instructors to call parts certain names. I have experienced this myself working with instructors based on something as small as if they went to an east or west coast school. So it is not unfathomable to me that there is a possibility to have small variations in nomenclature. It's not perfect, but it will get someone pointed in the right direction if they are trying to look up that particular part in their reference. As for the improper loading, we received the message about it, and training has been put out to do side loads only. These weapons have been in this certain armory for a little while and the previous owners may not have gotten the notice in time. Also, it is possible that different branches have different rules, which is why it is important to follow the policies that a unit might have in place and not just use my video as set in stone. Our policy says it should only be side loaded, but there might be a unit with a policy that says different. I would bring up this concern to the CO of that unit, but still follow that policy.

@@godiamo89 There is no authorizatiom to deviate from the manual. None ! If a Commander or training Unit Commander does then he is wrong and assumes the legal risk. There is nothing in the manual that says you can deviate. It does says if you want to deviate you must get permission from ehhh the Commandant or the G4 ..minor stuff like that. As far as proper name ...its in the bible AKA the manual. Let the stadard slide and the standard is no longer thr standard

@@wollywolly2734 I am sure the actual instructor for the unit will emphasize that notification during training. If people are using only my videos to get them qualified, there are some bigger issues than just me not mentioning only to side load. As for proper names then, if it is a major issue for some, I would advise to mute my video and they can receive a work sheet with the names their instructor wants them to know. Or if someone else wants to create a video they are more than welcome too.
