I got a Tisas Duty 2 a few years ago for five bills out the door. Fit and finish, internal machining, trigger, all very good. Reliability was 100 percent (yes, even with the stock magazine.) I was as blown away by that gun as you are with this one. I built it into an action shooting gun (ASI) and it just keeps running. Really surprising value for money.

Just bought one this morning. I've owned 10 1911s in my 63 years on earth. I learned it in army officers training in 1980. So I've owned POS AMT Hardballers to Colt to Sig TT, to Springfield TRP, Ronin, and Operators, 2 Les Baers, Ed Browns, so I have some experience ce with them high and low. I was very impressed with the fit and finish, no over bite or underbite from the slide tonframe finish, the extractor was perfect blended, corners and edges are slightly radiused, no wiggle from slide to frame or barrel. The hammer felt a bit gritty. I detailed stripped it and gave every thing a clean, oil, and lube. Even disassembled thr main spring housing and swabbed some grease in the spring tunnel. Swapped the long trigger for a short trigger, removed the slot grip screws for hex grip screws, replaced the grips (VZ G10) with rubber Pach Diamond Pros. Tossed the factory recoil spring for Wilson flat wire 17 pound recoil spring. The trigger felt good. I measured it as 4.5 pounds. The grit pushing the hammer back was gone after a bit of grease. Now I have enough higher end 1911s woth Ls Baers and Ed Browns, so I wanted a truck gun. A fishing gun. I won't care if I toss it under my trucks seat or if I have it on my holster and I slip and splash into the river while fishing . I won't cry if I scratch it and just clean and lube and ready to go. It's railed so I can partner woth it hiking kr camping or go exploring creepy places at night. It appears to be a keeper and for the money, can't beat it with a stick.

@MightyBjorn

I've been very pleased with mine. The Tisas Raider is a tad ammo picky but it runs the brands and types of ammo I typically run. Finally, while I promoted the Tisas Raider myself, my pockets were not lined to do such. I bought my Tisas Raider same as you did, and I don't regret that purchase either. It is just a very good quality firearm for its price point.

Gotta say, I loved my issued M45a1. Cleaned every pistol range I ever shot with it. It beat the brakes off of the M9a1 that the rest of the Marines had to use. The few times I had to switch to the Beretta felt like moving from a Bentley to a Taurus. People who haven't used a pistol in combat really get heated about the low round capacity, but when you consider the limited use cases you realize right away that it isn't a variable. If I'm in a situation where I have to drop more than one mag from my pistol I have serious problems. We heard a lot about the reliability issues, but all of our guns were replacement issue so they ran like tops. We shot hundreds of thousands of rounds and had fewer M45a1 malfunctions and breaks than with our M4a1s. I know a bunch of guys who were gutted when they took them away. We speculate that the actual reason we moved away was so the USMC didn't have to deal with the logistics supplying so few units with 45acp.

I’m somewhere between 500 and 1000 rounds on my TISAS WWII era 1911A1 clone, and it’s exactly how you described. One of the two provided Checkmate mags started double feeding when loaded full with slide forward, it met a ball peen hammer after that. Chip McCormick mags are the truth, Truth. Nary a weapon related malfunction. More accurate than I am (which isn’t saying much, really).
@gunz4450

I guess I've been lucky with the mags that came with mine. I've had no issues as yet. Between myself and my nephew, lost count of the number of rounds through mine.

I really like my Tisas Raider in .45. It feels solid, shoots great, and didn't cost a small fortune. I don't really care where it's made provided its reliable and consistent. All in all, it's a very good gun in stock form. Now with that said, who can resist tinkering with a 1911? Not me, so I ended up modding mine "a bit" with Ed Brown parts, VZ Operator grips, and Wilson Combat mags. Now it's personalized to my liking, shoots a little better, and has less recoil. I'm very happy with my Raider and would buy another 1911 from Tisas in the future.

I have a Girsan Hi-Power clone and it seems to be an exact clone of the original. Works fine. I have a friend who has a couple of Tisas 1911's and he likes them. I don't know how they are made, but if you have the specs, and you have CNC equipment to build on, it's pretty hard to screw them up. That is, of course, unless you're a car manufacturer. Who knows what the heck they're doing.

Also one thing I wanted to add in regards to the cerekote flaking off and being an issue…. Everyone thinks the issue was that it was flaking off and the Marines didn’t like it. That’s true….but it wasn’t the flaking off in and of itself that was problematic….it was the internals were all cerekoted as well and when that sht started to come off, it turned into a sort of sludge and cause catastrophic failures and stoppages. That was the main issue the Marines had with the cerekote.

I have a few Cerakote Elite coated(upper) guns. Cerakote has to be properly stored & applied properly. Many "shops" lack the skills, R&D to apply Cerakote. Cerakote Elite is the best coating for carry-duty-defense weapons. You can expect minor wear at contact points, muzzle end.

Seeing this review and seeing Tisas has one chambered in 9mm, my decision to commit sacrilege, shed my fudd thinking, and join the late 20th century (yes, I know we’re in the 21st century; I’m still catching up) makes this future purchase feel decadent. I actually just saw this video after getting one. They dont show up often but I too thought it was too good to be true. But then I researched the lack of mim parts. The fact its fully forged. Basically everything you touched on. I have not been able to shoot it yet. But I only found this video because a short of your popped of you launching across your range. And Im like oh no. What I wrong? But that led me to your channel and I saw this review and the fact it wasnt sponsored and you really helped validate my choice. I actually got a kimber raptor 2 as my first 1911 and it was my only one until now. But that gun while I got a deal on it new had a lot of manufacturing erors. And kimber was not very helpful. And so I customized the gun, gutted it and fit it with various forged and CNC parts and tuned it to my personal tastes. But it has no rail for a light. And stainless marks up easily and I have alot of time and money invested in it. So still loving the 1911 platform I kept researching what was the best features and quality I could get at the lowest price. And the Tisas Raider was always the one I have been coming back to. I could give a fuck it was made in turkey. After 100 years I think we can let that shit go. I mean is a Sig not a SIg because they arent made in germany anymore? In the end I wanted a gun in the beater price range that hit above its price point so I could just enjoy shooting the thing and not worrying about the wear. Hell the fact it was modeled after the colt isnt what drew me to it. I just liked it for what it was, how it was made and from the materials its made of. I shoot for fun. And your video gives me faith that fun is what I will have. Thanks for touching on the magazines. I will compare the stock ones to the wilson mags I have and see if there is an issue with mine. But Its not unusual to have to upgrade mags on most 1911's under $2000 that I have seen from many posts of others. I really appreciate this funny and honest review. And if mine sucks im fucking blaming you even though I made my choice before you said it was good. I know its not fair. But it wont be fair if I get a shit one and you didnt. Just kidding. I got my Raider and have been shooting it a lot, or at least as much as I can afford. After about the first 100 rounds which I'll call the break-in period it's been absolutely flawless. It feeds any ammo from even the crappiest mags I have, or the best mags I have. It'll feed empty shells from the magazine! It has a 4 pound trigger that has zero creep and breaks cleanly with a short crisp reset. It's more accurate than I am and I'm not a bad shooter. I've seen it throw three bullets in a row through the same hole on target at a range of 15 yards and the rest were really close. It's making me a better shooter because I KNOW that any missed shots are due to ME, and not to the pistol. It also has the nicest feel when shooting out of any of my 1911s. And...funny thing....the faster I shoot the Raider, the tighter my grips get. I can't recommend a Raider highly enough! You can spend more, but it'll be hard to get a better gun even if you do!

Been rocking my Raider for a bit. Out of the box, I was happy with it. Since then, I've upgraded to a trigger that allows takeup and overtravel adjustment, FLGR, ShokBuf and a 12lb spring, and spent some time polishing internals. Tisas is making the move to be the number one 1911 company. They are now using forged ignition systems, and the fit and finishes have improved in quality. The best is still Bul Armory for under $2000. The people who ran Colt crashed the company into the sea. I just bought a Gold Cup Trophy and the first thing I did was put in an EGW ignition system, a far better toolless guide rod, and did some blending.

Best 1911 review since Hickok 45
@Turboy65

Good review. I liked my first Tisas so much that I'm buying a Raider next. I'd already decided to do this. My Tisas Service Special shoots as well for me as any Colt Gold Cup I've yet shot. And for a fraction of the price, and with materials, workmanship, fit, and finish being equal to or superior to the Colt, no less. But with the CNC manufacturing technology of today, I'd EXPECT all the parts to be machined more precisely than Colt parts made in the 70s and 80s.

Time for my inner Fudd to shine. The 1911's are forged from foundries of Heaven itself. Mr. Browning, the Moses of guns, was guided by God himself how to create the .45 ACP... "And it was good." Praise the Lord!🙏A lot of people sleep on Turkish firearms, but they don't produce to many bad pistols at all. Most the clone jobs you get from them run as good if not better than the original. I own the Colt M45A1 and frickin love the thing. I also own this one. To this point, about 2500 rounds, I've had 3 malfunctions out of my Tisas. Two due to mag issues, and one due to a properly hit, very hard primer. If you want a good 1911 without getting throat punched by the price tag this is one you might want to look at. Fun one to watch. You have a new subscriber here.

Buy a Dawson precision plate, screw it to the slide and red loctite tf outta it Then mount RMR to that plate with more loctite lol I absolutely do not recommend this but it can be done lol

I have the black B45 (I slapped on some Pachmayr grips for the OG M45 vibe) and have also had issues with the stock Mec-Gar mags feeding hollow points. Who would have thought that Mec-Gar mags would be the problem, but I guess I'm not the only one. My Chip mags seem to work fine.

I’ve been on the hunt to add a 1911 of some sort to my plastic collection lately. This is pretty neat to hear. I don’t want a kimber, I don’t want a new colt. But I also don’t want to spend dual tube money on a safe queen when I’m rocking a pvs-14 you feel me? Lol great video man thanks

Just FYI, the Tisas Duty B45R is essentially the same gun as their Raider, except it's black and doesn't have a lanyard loop (and has different grips). The Duty can be frequently found on sale nearing $400 on various sites - keep an eye on the gun deals site. I just ordered one from Palmetto State Armory, $429 after tax. Though I'd probably prefer the Raider for the cool factor... I can't justify the extra money for what is functionally the same gun.

Nice review. This gun is on my list to get since I can’t afford the astronomical price of an original M45. I just picked up the basic Tisas GI model for 300 bucks from PSA. For the money it is by far the best bang for your buck 1911 on the market. Machine work and quality are above Rock Island. Tisas is also starting to put out a true to spec 1911a1 USMC GI model with the small ejection port.

The Tisas will be my 2nd 1911. Still debating model though. It will replace one of my pin fire 45's. Replaced the other 45acp with a Ruger SR 1911 target in 10mm. Love that gun. Its has been flawless for 800ish rounds. May get either a Springfield Ronin or Ruger SR 1911 light weight in 9mm after that. You know to spread the wealth or maybe like you. I just like guns.
