I may also have a third Wilson Combat BCG that is using an "Out of Spec" ejection spring also purchased a year ago! One of the new WC BCG's showcased in this video was purchased directly from Wilson Combat over a year ago and the recently just purchased came from Primary Arms. When I find out about the third WC I'll let you know!

Once again crap QC! Just found another short spring on another WC BCG on the last A2 20" I did that was also acting bizarre on ejection! So that's three of them! Will have that video up soon!

Thanks! I know a lot of the rank and file NAVY also used this version M4A1 before all of the SOPMOD conversions started to arrive. Navy also wanted to keep full auto instead of burst on the M16A2 and these were designated the M16A3. The SEABEES were issued quite a few M16A3's from what I understand. I was on shipboard security teams called SAT/BAT while onboard the USS Tripoli LPH10 during the Gulf War and we were still qualifying with the M14, 1911 and shotguns into the mid 90's! Lol! Our Master at Arms guys had the good stuff! The SAT/BAT teams were primarily issued pistol and shotgun for internal security and the M14's for surface, perimeter or pier threats. Thanks for watching and commenting Marine!

My father has 2 full wilson combat rifles. One SBR in 300 blackout and one of the 18 inch "urban sniper" I'll have to check his BCGs to see if they have the 24 coils. Kind of BS for them to have the wrong springs in such expensive rifles.

I have a few older WC BCG's that have been working fine. It's just been these last three purchased at different times over the last year and a half for me. I would say if your fathers are working OK you're probably good/got lucky. I also had some issues with my WC 308 barrels when I built a couple of LR308's. The gas ports were full of debris and the inside holes were not cleanly drilled. I had to use a cleaning rod back and forth to break the left overs off. 308 barrels were purchased about six months apart. Maybe just my own personal experience (bad luck) but more recently QC in the firearms industry is not what it use to be and paying more is no longer a guarantee. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Good job, Pete. I was surprised that's what it turned out to be...but that IS what it looked like. Glad you fixed it so easily, unfortunate that you _had to._ And you kept the H2 buffer, correct? That has always worked best for me in carbine length gas systems.
@peteregger7928
@peteregger7928 26 дней назад
I kept the H2 installed as well. I think between the O-ring delete on the extractor, correct ejector spring and the H2 it's solid now! I also noticed the rim of the brass is no longer being chewed on. Comes out the same way it went in! Less recoil and feels smoother with the H2. Thanks Gary!

Awesome!!! After all the discussion last weekend I checked all my LGS ejector springs, S&W mixed in with Aero Precision lower parts kits, some had 25 coils, some 26 and only 1 had 27 lol. I dug my Sprincos out of the dumpster and they all had 27 coils. Still not using them. All my Colts were 27. Looks like based on time you bought the BCGs that Wilson have been sending out of specs parts for over a year.
@peteregger7928
@peteregger7928 27 дней назад
Yes, more like a year and a half that I know of. I just found another bad WC on the last A2 20" I just completed. 25 coils at .900" instead of the correct 27 coils at .926". All of the Sprinco's I had came in the same at .936" so about .010" over. I'm sure after X amount of rounds they will be right at MilSpec .926". Being .010" over there were no binding issues on the WC's with the plungers not being able to go flush with the bolt face.

Thanks Pratical! Simple fix that should not have had to happen! I just found another bad WC on my last A2 20" build. Not quite as bad at 25 coils instead of the correct 27 but still out of spec! That's three in total all purchased over the last year and half so this is not a one off! Done with WC!

@@peteregger7928 It can happen with any manufacturer. I just attended SOTAR class and my BCM Bcg had an extreme leak in the gas key. My SOLGW bcg had a small leak in gas key. Replaced the BCM key and they did not use any sealant on the carrier key. My Danial Defense barrel would not rotate on 1.4646 GO gauge. Needs to go back. I will probably have videos on this. My Colt barrel was good to go.

Thanks Chris! It feels smooth too! A lot less snappy and punchy compared to my other carbines. Just found a third jacked up Wilson Combat ejection spring in my last A2 20" build that was ejecting but acting much like this M4A1 Retro was. I'll get that video posted up tomorrow morning. That's three WC's in a row purchased over the last year and a half that were "Out of Spec"! Replaced the A2 spring while cleaning the M4A1today so the A2 will be going back out soon for more testing!
