@@SquirrelSniper138 I don't think we see any indication from the car, I see reflection of the lorries indicator for a few fractions of a second. Irrespective, car stayed in lane, lorry did not, lorry hit car not the other way around. Car shouldn't have hung around in the blind spot _ideally_, but 95% lorry drivers fault.
I am a truck driver and this is 100% the Truck drivers fault. You're meant to check your mirrors every 20-30 seconds for whether there's a car approaching from behind or if your load is still secure etc He should have known a little hatch was nearby because it hadn't yet passed him.
Looks like the lorry driver lost track of the car. The car is slowly overtaking a LHD lorry, the lorry driver assumed the lane was clear. 99% the lorry driver's fault, and assign 1% blame to the car driver for lacking the common sense not to slowly overtake long LHD vehicle, spending too much time in the blind spot. Still the lorry is the vehicle at fault.
Black ... absolutely correct! *There is no excuse for changing lanes in the HOPE that all is clear of traffic! If it cannot be established by any driver of any vehicle that it is clear and safe to change lanes then no lane change should be made!*
@@michaelc3977 Nope!! *There is no excuse for changing lanes in the HOPE that all is clear of traffic! If it cannot be established by any driver of any vehicle that it is clear and safe to change lanes then no lane change should be made!*

problem is the lorry is left handed its got foreign plate on trailer . cant see anything wrong the seat is doing he simply going forward and leaving space from car in front. whats wrong with that
The lorry driver is at fault, but it's bloody annoying when people sit in the lane next to you and hide in your blind spot. It's an overtaking lane, overtake.
@@Phil_Vaughan I'm aware of that and look where it got him - sideways in front of a truck. Quote rules and laws all you want, but clever driving prevents accidents.
@@Gordon.. the latest campaign tells us to keep left unless overtaking, so I see no reason for this car to be sat in this position. I drive for a living and you learn not to sit in blind spots or leave yourself exposed to other peoples mistakes (Of course it's not always avoidable, but this one was). As I've said to others, it's not about following rules, it's about self preservation.
@@technicalscience easy now tiger, I haven't quoted any anything... I totally agree with the premise of awareness and "clever driving" but it still doesn't make it the car driver's fault. The lorry driver is responsible, whether by accident or design.
I pretty much always hover around 65-70mph on the motorway. My only exception is when I’m overtaking a lorry or even a van. The blind spot of a lorry is vast and (quite easily) a potential deathtrap.
Most people are completely ignorant of how the middle lane works, the car did nothing wrong, it is going faster than the outside lane, so they are 100% overtaking and 100% using the lane correctly, read the high way code, they are also the correct distance from the car in front of them, also overtaking in the middle lane. Lorry is a dangerous driver, hope he gets prosecuted.
I'm sure all that helps takes the pain away from the car driver, knowing a book says he was correct. Back in the real world, I would not have remained in the lorry's blindspot regardless of who would be at fault in the case of an accident. Therefore I would not be at the mercy of another's actions. There was nothing preventing the car driver from altering their driving method to remove themselves from danger. In this case, that would be not entering the (foreign) lorry's blindspot until the road ahead was sufficiently clear to get passed the lorry swiftly. The sooner people stop hiding behind "how things actually works" and take some personal responsibility, the better...
@@xenomorph6961 agreed 100%! These people don't understand defensive driving - same people that speed up on roundabouts to make a point. It achieves nothing, other than potentially causing an accident.
@@xenomorph6961 The book covers both who is legally responsible and what is ideal manners, there will always be a gap between reality and ideality, none of us are perfect 100% of the time, but we must take responsibility when our actions fall below the minimum standard which is why this is squarely the lorry drivers fault.
lorry driver fault looks like a left hand also and he not using the the downward mirror if he did he see the car. you can clearly see that mirror at 0:22 very top of window
Selwyn Owen ... *That is no excuse for changing lanes in the HOPE that all is clear of traffic! If it cannot be established by a driver that it is clear and safe to change lanes then no lane change should be made!* SO NO LANE CHANGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE HERE! Rule 267 Do not overtake unless you are sure it is safe and legal to do so. Overtake only on the right. You should check your mirrors take time to judge the speeds correctly make sure that the lane you will be joining is sufficiently clear ahead and behind take a quick sideways glance into the blind spot area to verify the position of a vehicle that may have disappeared from your view in the mirror remember that traffic may be coming up behind you very quickly. Check all your mirrors carefully. Look out for motorcyclists. When it is safe to do so, signal in plenty of time, then move out ensure you do not cut in on the vehicle you have overtaken be especially careful at night and in poor visibility when it is harder to judge speed and distance.
@Andrew Hardingham with the new zoom function on RU-vid mobile you can clearly see the proximity mirror is badly adjusted on the truck. 100% the trucks fault.
If I'm in the position of the Seat Ibiza (seeing a lorry close behind another vehicle), I'd be getting out of it's blind spot in a hurry (whether that be accelerate ahead or change lane).
@@Storm.Z.4u But what they COULD do is move ahead slightly to avoid being alongside a lorry for an extended period. This is taught in the regular advanced driving training available to anyone who can be bothered to check it out, and honestly all drivers should read Roadcraft as a basic starting-point too.
@@mLyonJE If they moved forward they would be next to the other lorry, The Seat was clearly overtaking slowly. It's not reasonable to expect the Seat driver to drive faster just to account for the errors of the Lorry driver. the lorry was driving far too close to the Lorry in front.
@@cj9852 There is space between the lorries, look again. It's only needs to be enough to get out of the blonde spot of either. And if they could not execute the overtake safely (this is not slow moving traffic on a congested carriageway) then they should not have embarked on the manoeuvre in the first place. After you familiar with Roadcraft?
I can’t tell whether this is a foreign HGV or UK. If it’s got foreign plates however, car drivers should bare in mind that sitting in the middle lane next to the cab is the blind spot, so they’re never going to see you there unless you beat their speed! Think there were wrongs from both drivers here, but mostly to blame is the HGV driver on this occasion! Regardless, as long as everyone was okay, that’s what matters!
SEAT stayed in their lane lorry indicated changing lane but should of stayed in it if they cant change lane without killing someone. SEAT is in a position where they cant see the lorries indicators. SEAT looks like it should be visible to the lorry driver. Lorry has a mirror for checking stuff near in blind spot.
Todays Tip: Don't sit along side / don't slowly pass a lorry - especially a left hand drive one. Get past as quick as you can - or - always be ready to move over. Remember: cars are more agile than trucks.
Electric cars tend to hang about in the middle lane, overtaking a 56mph lorry by doing 56.01mph to preserve their battery or whatever. I appreciate this wasn’t electric, although it may be soon after it gets scrapped.
Clearly a left hand drive truck, watched the video twice to count exactly how long the Seat sat in the blind spot of the HGV matching it’s speed. Not very clever driving by either driver although the HGV had very little chance to see it.
Watched the video a few times before commenting. HGV driver is at fault..The back end of the car is almost level with the front of the lorry. Therefore the car is isn't in the drivers blindspot.A quick glance in the mirror before moving, and the hgv driver would have seen the car...I'm a HGV driver
Lazy trucker not checking his mirrors enough(yeah the car was in the blind spot on impact but the car wasnt in his/her blindspot to get into that position) -Trucker should be made to do extra training before he/she kills someone.
60:40 truck driver. Truck driver should've taken better observations, but the Seat driver didn't do themselves any favours either sitting on a corner of a truck and matching its speed.
Stop talking about the trucks blindspot , if he's got a blindspot then he shouldn't be on the road because he's driving without due care and consideration! Try standing in court and telling the judge that you caused a fatality because of your blindspot and see what happens to you!
Obviously lorry driver at fault, lorry restricted to 55 , car in overtaking lane , driving same speed as truck for a long time , just do your overtake and move back in , cars just sit level in a truck blind spot for around 5 mins, shit will happen, motorway speed is 70mph for a car , overtake and don't mess around !
When you try and box a LHD truck into the inside lane. If you see a truck up the backside of another it's usually a good idea to move out or put ur foot down
Bollocks. It's a better idea to make all your observations before changing lane. We all know they don't want to but an HGV can slow down and should when necessary.
Box in? What do you suggest, all other vehicles leave the motorway when a Lorry enters, they don't own the road they share it and due to their size they have an additional duty of care for other motorists. the car was in a different lane to the idiot in the lorry, who BTW was driving too close.
Looking at it again, the black car actually slowed down for no reason as the lorry was about to pull out. The lorry driver is still ion the wrong but strange behaviour from the black car.
@@dannydee2668 but likely in most cases and in this case, there's no doubt it's the truck driver at fault in my opinion. Can't in any circumstance nudge someone from behind because they seem to be hogging the lane.
Definitely not hogging 2nd lane. Looks like they were overtaking. Lorry doing its max 60mph and car travelling at 70mph, as car in front of that is travelling at same speed as other car. So truck driver at fault and can’t see him, due to his blind spot.
@@Gordon.. I hear what you say, and agree, but I think the moral of the story is not to hang about in the middle lane when overtaking a foreign lorry whilst in it’s blind spot. I bet he/she gets a move on next time they overtake. 🚗
You are the knob! *There is no excuse for changing lanes in the HOPE that all is clear of traffic! If it cannot be established by any driver of any vehicle that it is clear and safe to change lanes then no lane change should be made! 100% fact!!*
Manaboutadog ... You know you're wrong by this bit ... _"There is no excuse for changing lanes in the HOPE that all is clear of traffic! If it cannot be established by any driver of any vehicle that it is clear and safe to change lanes then no lane change should be made! "_ *but you are too gutless to admit it!*
I hate middle lane hoggers and it was silly for the Seat driver to sit in the HGV’s blind spot, but the HGV driver was clearly at fault for changing lanes when it wasn’t clear.
The actual issue here is that truck drivers are ruling Britain's roads especially now with so much traffic from Europe. That truck driver did not need to overtake the Lorry in front of it. All these trucks are doing very similar speeds and the amount of movements that some of these lorries are making should not be allowed for reasons of risk and reward to the public. I haven't been in the UK for a year and a half but soon I'll be back driving for my job in the UK, the state of Lorry driving is getting crazy. The new thing is using the slow lane as an undertaking lane as if it's the norm just so they can get their foot down and stay bang on that 56 mile an hour limiter. Something needs to be done with these guys deciding to make potentially death causing maneuvers and also driving within a meter to 2 metres between themselves and the back of another lorry if something happens ahead they just slam the brakes on it's like they all get into pack mentality enjoying the thrill no matter who's family's lives they destroy in the process when any normal thinking person would leave a lorry's length between them and the next vehicle crazy crazy guys trying to get somewhere a minute faster I may only end up at the end of another traffic jam anyway the experience of the days and weeks and months and years before would have told them that was going to happen but they still stick their foot on the floor and risk all our lives doing it.
@@Gordon.. The only lane that is not an overtaking lane is the first lane. It amazes me how many people don’t realise this. Though the lorry was clearly at fault for changing lanes when it wasn’t clear.
