Today I'm going to be taking a look at the M8 Gamestick. A neat plug and play retro game console. It alleges to pack a lot in a small package. How well will it perform? Lets find out.

I just got mine last week .. I love it .. the games run smoothly .. lots of imports .. arcade classics … Macross .. mazinger z , king of fighters Godzilla. etc .. well worth it .

lol There are ton of games on there that don’t work. There are games you cannot start. There are games that have glitches in the first level where you can’t even move or get around anything you’re just stuck. A lot of the games lag sitting game play. They don’t all run smoothly. Also since they are emulated some of the games are stretched out and you can’t read words on the top and bottom. As a retro game player since 1981 this game stick is highly subpar. This game stick is garbage good thing it’s an emulator. I ditched all the bad games downloaded all the good roms to mine. My controller back was broken when sent. It’s a pure garbage for emulation untill you mod out the emulator with better roms and better Operation System.

There is no way on earth the M8 Gamestick has Nightmare in the dark, if so I would definitely purchase one, it was one of the best arcade games I played during my childhood.

I'm a huge fan of these gamestick things! There's a version called GD10 from the AMPOWN Store, nowadays it's the 2nd best when it comes to these, it's the one I got for me. It can run SNES without slowing down and the n64 works well with it too. Only the Dreamcast is kinda eh, has some games where the fps drops or some of the graphics glitches like Sonic Adventure 1 (even tho Sonic Adventure 2 runs perfectly), but the PSP for example, it runs smoothly most games. the more demanding ones like God of War, Dante's Inferno and GTA won't run well on it, but most other games will run in 30 or 60 fps. The SD card it comes with sucks by the way, I've heard people having trouble with it after a month's of usage, and the joysticks aren't the best either. Honestly, I did buy a new SD Card and a Joystick just to play on my gamestick and the investment was worth it for me.

You can try using a adapter for the powe instead of the tv's usb port in my case it did the job and fixed the emulation problems

So the better the power the better the emulator runs? Like with FIRESTICK it works better plugged into the wall versus plugged into the USB on the TV.

I downloaded my favorite games from favorite platforms along with their emulators on laptop and i can play them anywhere i want with as many controllers i have. Connect to tv with hdmi and play on big screen with friends. Got NES, ps1, ps2 games on it. All for free, lots of work but free as long as you have laptop. Also in emulators you can use quick save quick loads.

Couldn't get the controllers to connect. Maybe I just don't know how. The screen came up on my big screen tv but couldn't select anything on the menu. Nothing worked, no scrolling, no selecting, nothing, zip. Is there something I gotta do to activate the controllers?

it does, though since it uses a separate system, u gotta get to the boot screen and change to the gamestick's system or else it will just run your laptopt's system instead of the gamestick's. the laptop's hardware won't be used at all though, it'll serve as a screen. not sure about all the Contra games since mine is the GD10 version, the list of games might differ.

You know, back in the day, SNES was good. But most games did suffer from slow down. That's why Sega use to push up Sonics fast processing speed.

Had anyone had issues with the remotes connecting? I’m on my second box bc they just keep disconnecting and then I can’t get em back. Also haven’t been able to get on 2 player when they do work for a minute.

For me I had to use a bigger power supply block I had laying around. The 1amp charger just isn't enough and caused disconnects and system shut downs

iirc u got to keep pressing the middle button and the controller will start blinking, looking for its dongle thing (the little usb thing u plugged into the gamestick).

It is originally meant for TVs. I’m not sure about PSP, if it can’t run PS2 games. But, if it does, who knows, maybe PS2 games will BARELY be playable too

I just bought the same gamestick, just want to ask if I have to charge it first before using it? Because I tried to plug it immediately to our tv but it cannot be detected by our tv. But the gamepads are working fine, I have tried it using my laptop.

Hello! So i got mine to work, apparently you need a charger usb connected along with the HDMI cable, it wont work unless it is plugged in!

Yea, SNES was a real bummer. Most everything else is great. But if SNES is a must, you should definitely look elsewhere.

try connecting your gamestick to an old phone's adapter instead of plugging it on the tv, because the tv's voltage sometimes is too low to power it up.

Hey guys. I've been trying to find a solution everywhere and here I am... I got the exact same stuff, and works pretty well except for PS1 games. All of them have a massive latency and lagging sound which is infuriating. Has anyone else got that problem? Or found a solution to it?
