I first heard it and loved it immediately back in 2008. Still gives me goosebumps even after 16 years. That's a legacy for M83. And a part of me too. Such an amazing track.
First heard this album when I was in Hong Kong and listened to it non stop, and it rained the whole time, so now the smell of rain and all those buildings dwarfing me on this small congested area with this large sounding music will always be linked.
M83, My brother died yesterday. This song is from one of his favorite albums. He would always leave a CD copy of Saturdays=Youth in the car. Thank you for making music that my brother enjoyed.
Losing a loved one is the hardest pain a human goes through, even harder than one's own death. Just take it one day at a time and be near people as much as you can. Everybody dies, it's just about learning to hold onto the person in a way that makes them close, but healthy enough to move on with your life.
I find accidentally a song of M83 here in youtube a half hour ago...after listned a few songs and now a can't stop listing M83. How can I live so much time and never ever heard about you guys? Great song!!!!
This 80's revival thing in ca 2008-2014 was when I thought damn the best music is made RIGHT NOW. Now it takes me back to that 80/08 vibe if you get what I mean.
@@jessien5463 "One year later." Cause I keep track of every time you comment huh you f'ing idiot? What does one year have anything to do with anything?
@earkittycat5421 on my RU-vid feed it says this music video is 11 yo but yet this comment is saying its 14 yo, the comment specifically. This is clearly not possible. I'm guessing it's a glitch but at the same time I don't trust far left RU-vid as far as I could throw them. The woke cult love rewriting history but on this I could find zero reasons why. Probably a glitch but I keep seeing it....
So I spent around an hour one day with one of my best friends just watching these videos because I love this music with a burning passion. We just sat and tried to figure out what they were about. You know what? I'm done. None of these make a lick of sense. So now, I think I'll just enjoy the videos and the music behind them.
Sorry to break this to everybody ideals, no matter how much you want this to be about love, it's about a drug experience. Taken from M83's own website- Best of all is "Kim and Jessie", the first proper M83 pop song. "A lot of people always tell me that M83 is always about melancholy music, so I wanted to write something happy with hooks, a bit kitsch," he says. "The lyrics are about two teenage girls having a drug experience."
I love watching great quad skaters! I'm 55 and quad skate as often as possible. Knowing how much it takes to skate like these girls makes me appreciate this video on many levels.
This song use to wreck me and I loved every second of it. Music should throw you off, depress you at the same exact time exciting you to keep life in that day dream like state. These days are not those days.
You should hear The Chain Gang of 1974! If you like this kind of stuff, give a listen to Cut Copy, Miami Horror, Bag Raiders, Capital Cities, Jukebox the Ghost, and Shy Child (newer stuff), if you haven't already. =)
I love this song, it is so beautiful and well put together and has that dreamy ambient sound that I like so much, yes it takes me away every time to a place that I feel free ....:) Kim and Jessy forever ......

The screen loads up as it is going to start up the race. The doors and bonnet of the car open up as you dance beside it in your favorite emote. C'mon you know what I'm talking about... It's nostalgia man!!
@@nasrmohammed5176 Fucking youtube generation, this song came out in 2008! So did the music video. That was 12 years ago. Exactly the difference between 30 and 18. Don't tell us we don't know how old we are just because you can't imagine the world before you digested any other way except through the internet.
@@nasrmohammed5176 lmao fuck off. You were wrong and got corrected. You're the salty snowflake! Can't handle someone cursing your unwelcomed stupidity without crying and bitching about it.
This video takes me back my teen years in the 80s ,rollerskating everyday and everywhere. The lost youth, wasted opportunities, all those teen emotions. Those were confusing, happy sad, fun, sad times. These girls at least ended up with a fun time.
Lyrics Kim and Jessie They have a secret world in the twilight Kids outside worlds They are crazy about romance and illusion Somebody lurks in the shadows Somebody whispers Somebody lurks in the shadows Yeah yeah yeah Dream dressed in blue It's all they need for now And forever Chased by the moon They shatter their whole peace With singing So we can drown our towns with voices So possible to like it as one And soon they'll be flying Say of course, say you're lovely
I agree with MrJeanSarkozy. First 3 albums were the best. They're the essence of M83 before it went full-on lyrical and mainstream. It was all about experiencing the music.
NahiraXD Yeah, I'm aware. I think it was up until Before the Dawn Heals us, correct? M83 is a little tricky because when you say I'm going to see M83 live, then you are talking about a group; however, as an artist it's just one person.

the video is NOT about lesbians not fitting in. it's about a loss of youth and coming of age. the two girls are happy together in the beginning because of youth, there isn't love or sexual attraction involved in it yet. they are just living a carefree life of rollerskating and friendship, and enjoying it. the girls in yellow are ironic because the colour yellow represents life and happiness, but they aren't happy, they're grown up and are now part of a routine, this is signified by their professionalism in skating that kim and jesse don't yet have. the underlying fear of growing up is shown during the routine when "life" (girls with umbrellas start to somewhat taunt them and circle them. the scene where the girls roll under them is the start to their 'growing up' moment; they are becoming part of the yellow girls routine. it is the start of their coming of age and they like being apart of it. this followed by them going out into the world to to finish growing up. the ending kiss still doesn't EXACTLY signify sexual attraction. it signifies the last step of growing up, romantic love. the reason for the underlying "sexual" tones was actually part of it too however. in an interview it is said that the tones are their 'because you build up this idea of thinking you know what it's about, you think it's two lesbians who are falling in love.' this is used as an example of the song and the video and their true meaning using the viewer watching: a child wont watch this video and think the same thing as an adult would. they would see two girls having fun; while an adult could perceive it as sexual tension between the two. it's truly a beautiful piece on youth and growing up.
I would rather say, that the "transition" under the legs of yellow pro-roller skaters is allegory for the way children learn about sex and other fun things grown-ups do: they get this information from older teenagers/young adults. It is too simple and unappealing for 'growing up'. Besides, they are already quite grown up and they just need that last push, such as information what you can do with your body in order to decide to finally grow up. In my opinion that scene with rolling under the legs is simple talk and brag of older girls what have they done with their boyfriends...
