@ricardoreiseng5964 Jun Mizutani is a VERY talented lefthanded table tennis player... But, he never "dominated" the table tennis world (Ma Long "terrorized" table tennis for such a long period)!!!
He was amazing. The commentary team however were awful - they knew nothing about the actual game. I had to turn them off to enjoy it. What does your channel think? Where were Adam and Riley - they know so much and bring the whole game even more to life.
What's amazing about him is that even at the age of 35, his playing style hasn't stopped evolving. In each scene, you can see Waldner's block, Niwa Koki's chop block, Kreanga's backhand, Ryu Seung-min's footwork, Fan Zhendong's Chiquita, and even Jhang Yining's forward attack & defence. He presents the history of table tennis like a panorama. He is table tennis itself.
Wow what a comment. You sir are a great writer. You should try at table tennis commentary -- I rewatched the match and tried to catch all these moments - made it even more fun and exciting. Ma Long is an inspiration.
The new skyrocketing rising analogous sport of PICKLEBALL is reminding that : The current table tennis version of heavyweight 2.7gram balls is full range stupid. Must immediately, as soon as possible, apply new lightweight balls of 2gram or 2.5gram balls. Heavyweight balls fly too fast because air resistence can not effective slow down them. Too difficult to control heavyweight balls, and extreme difficult to catch fast heavyweight table tennis balls. It is the reason of why almost all table tennis beginers leave out teble tennis or do not want to try playing table tennis. Need atleast few years of training for beginers in order to play amateur table tennis games of heavyweight 2.7gram balls. IT IS THE MOST STUPID ALL-TIME HISTORY HUMAN SETUP SPORT CONDITION TODAY IN THE AGE OF BUSY LIFE. Who will pay few years of training to reach level of playing basic amateur table tennis games ? Look at the new skyrocketing rising sport PICKLEBALL : the Pickleball federation setup very logical scientifical standard for pickleball balls : the pickleball balls have very reasonable very lightweight (in the context of distances in pickleballs), balls even have holes in ball outer surface to decrease ball weight. All of them lead to the to result : the lightweight pickleball balls fly in air with ENOUGH SLOW SPEED, so that in the this sport distances, players have enough time to react to apply techniques and tactics and get funs. And because players can succeed react, Pickleball is very easy to beginers quickly to play basic amateur games to get funs even without any training. Players must succeed to react to balls speed. It is the first conditions for sport to be human sport. I see that in many societies today, there are even more commercial PICKLEBALL CLUBS than table tennis clubs, and there are also more pickleball players than table tennis clubs. Everyone can easily quickly play amateur pickleball games for funs and communications. While it requires few years of training for beginers to play amateur table tennis games. It is obviously quite clearly stupid in table tennis. It affects table tennis equipment manufacturers (less new beginers, less markets), spectators (waste time to watch so much offgame time of picking up table tennis balls). The most reason : STUPID HEAVY WEIGHT OF CURRENT TABLE TENNIS BALLS. So if international table tennis can not quickly come to consensus of applying new lightweight (2-2.5gram balls) table tennis balls, then TABLE TENNIS SPORT MUST GIVE UP MORE THEIR PLACE TO PICKLEBALL SPORT IN OLYMPICS, in order to regard audience by stopping wasting time of table tennis audience in bored table tennis matches with much offgame time of going picking up balls and less ongame time of playing table tennis. The Olympics must slash more rooms of table tennis, to give more room of pickleball sport in Olympics, if the international table tennis society can not quickly reach to consensus of applying new lightweight 2-2.5gram table tennis balls
What a legend. Ma Long is beyond any other player in history. At 35 he basically re-invented his playing style in this world cup to beat the new generations and he prevailed. Unbelievable
Ma Long showing incredible adaptation to the difficulties. Some people said that Lin choked or also that this match is fixed, but strategy and adjustment was the key on this comeback because Lin was playing so good that Ma Long lost his confidence the same way Wang Chuqin did yesterday, but then in the 4th game he changed his playstyle and service which helped him recover the confidence and then play the same way as yesterday that led him to win 4-3, that is why pro matches should be always best of 7 and also that is why Ma Long is again, THE G.O.A.T!!
Those who says this is fixed don't follow TT. China doesn't favor any player when what national athenm plays at the medal ceremony is already decided. And Ma Long does not need a meaningless(for him) WC title. If there is any doubt in who gets to play in Paris, it will be decided in some closed matches in Beijing not here.
Lin Gaoyuan wasn't a choker in this game, he just used the same strategy to deal with new Ma Long, so the result is obvious the deja vu like the game with Wang Chuqin
This is one of the most crazy comeback I've ever seen for sure. This World Cup title is so important for ML because he is now has a good chance of getting selected for the Olympics and there is hope for a Triple Grand Slam on the line which has never been done by any player ever.
I never thought, ma long are gonna win a champion anymore, who knows today he did it after so many finals! Was tear and so much touched when he lift up the trophy high! Sorry for Lin Gao Yuan. Both giving their best tonight! Salute🎉
That looked like the strategy. Rather than overpowering LGY, he decides to use angles and block until he gets a chance to counter. It is so disheartening when you blast at your opponent and they just block it with ease.
Yep, a lot of the match, he didn't play his strokes with his legs. The difference in technique and movement after he gets to match point is amazing. That said, the lack of such movement probably made it harder for LGY to read and predict his shots.
It's so rare that we get to see this level of tactical ingenuity and ability to follow through when you do shift gears. Another memorable example is Moregard vs Jonghoin but you don't see it as often as you'd like
The way he turned himself to back hand serve , shows how well learned ma long is....for me this day he is GOAT.....getting out of comfort zone and winning such a crucial match of life is amazing , loads of respect for him
So much variation, Ma Long completly changed his playing style. He cant keep up with the insane speed of some of the other younger players but his insane at setting a slower pace, putting in a lot of spin and placing every single ball exactly where he wants it. He is the GOAT beating everyone throughout the years whilst adapting his own playing style to be better suited throughout the time.CRAZY!
Watched table tennis on and off for the past 15 years and it's crazy to see Ma Long perform, adapt, and excel in the changing men's playstyles throughout the years.
First of all, welcome to the sport. And yes, ma long is indeed a beast, he's the only male player in table tennis history to complete a double career grand slam, he's won by far the most international titles, for example several world champs and now three world cups, he's also won the asian champs 8 times (tt is a sport dominated by asia and especially china), and also the chinese national champs and cup several times. And lastly, he's also the player with the longest time on nr.1 (84 months), and the longest consecutive period on nr. 1 (64 months, from 2015 to 2017), which is also longer than the overall time of any other player. And that streak was only broken because of a change in the ittf point system. After that, he suffered a major injury, but still came back to win the world champs, olympic games, and also some national titles and also open titles. That is why they call him the greatest of all time, and the dictator. By the way, his name literally means dragon in chinese (long), which also fits to his other nickname, the dragon, and the description of a beast. Right now, he's already 35, so he's out of his prime for sure, not being able to move as quickly as before and all that stuff. His prime was prob in 2015, where he won his first world championship. Back then, he was practically unbeatable.
China should allow Ma Long to participate in the singles Paris Olympics because he deserves it and if he wins the triple Grand Slam it will be a record that cannot be broken.
After 0-3 down I said to myself "There's no way he can win this". Couple of minutes later he proved I was wrong. This is incredible at his age to be able to win a major tournament, where all the best player's showed up. Hands down Ma Long ❤
Ma Long now could be 3 time Grand Slam Champion if winning Paris 2024.. Probably Fan Zhendong will lose his spot for Ma Long.. Ma Long now is 2 time Grand Slam Champion, 2 time Olympic Champion, 3 time WTTC Champion, 3 time World Cup champion, 6 time Grand Finals Champion.. Ma Long is 6 time the best of the World on World ranking on final of the year (Record), 64 months as World Number 1 (Record)..Ma Long is as well 9 time WTTC Champion with Chinese team (World Record).. 8 time World Cup champion with Chinese team (World Record), 3 time Olympic Champion with Chinese team (Record).. 8 time Asian Championships Champion with Chinese team (Record).. 4 time Asian Games Champion Champion with Chinese team (Record).. Greatest Of All Time. Ma 32:14 Xu, Ma 25:15 FZD, Ma 31:10 Jike, Ma 30:14 Ma Lin, Ma 32:12 Liqin, Ma 30:27 Hao, Ma 17:4 Boll, Ma 20:0 Ovtcharov, Ma 15:0 Mizutani, Ma 9:0 Schlager, Ma 5:1 Ryu Seung Min, Ma 1:0 Waldner. Ma Long absolutelly the Goat!!! 🐏🐏🐏
Maan, this was one of the best matches I've ever watched. Even from the first game, from points like 4-8 and 5-8 (0:20) it looks like Ma Long is playing a little different, relaxed. The way he came back from 4-8, I felt Ma Long had this match in the bag. But for some reason even at 9-10 in the first 2 sets, he didn't close out like he usually would, still went for the crazy shots. And then it's set 5 he brings out the bh serve but he's down 5-1 and I'm thinking even if Ma loses 4-1, this was one his favourite games to watch for me. To watch him be relaxed and try the different things he wanted to try... Then something happens, suddenly everything he's trying is landing on the table. The flurry of points from 3-6 to 8-6 in set 5 is incredible! Anything he tries it goes. The point at 6:11, you wouldn't swing a bh so recklessly where if each point meant a lot to you. And that's it, Ma Long continues still trying various shots and it all lands and it isn't until 9-6 in the decider that you actually see him get a little tense, cause now he knows he can win. Some people might say that Lin choked, but I don't think he did. He played really well, didn't fumble any of his usual shots, fought well in the decider even up to 10-8, the only difference being that winning this meant a lot more to him, and he couldn't afford to experiment nor does he have the experience to. He just couldn't improvise against Ma Long. Ma says in the interview later that his goal for this tournament was to reach the semi finals which is why he was so relaxed in the finals. So yeah overall, even though I feel a little bad for LGY, it was an amazing match. And although there were a few hiccups in this tournament, thank you ITTF for bringing back the old angle, the matches were a lot more fun to watch this way!
Love you ma long. It hurted so much to watch you losing your matches. I think not only me but most fans are extremely happy in you becoming the champion and taking the cup
Love how in the last 2 matches ma long changed his serve. He figured that the normal pendulum serve against the two lefties didn't work. Then he changed to reverse against both. It worked against wang, however lin still played great. Then he started using backhand serve against lin and never looked back. For the longest time he mostly used pendulum. love how he got out of his comfort zone at the worldcup. hope he finds a way against righties all well (especially against fan). Congrats Ma Long. Great fight
the best two matches in table tennis history...4 to 0 against Wang....and from 3 games down to win 4 to 3 against Lin....Ma Long...written in stone...the greatest of all time
ML was suffering from heavy top spin shots from Lin in the beginning and kept hitting it out of the table, but started adapting from the 3rd game by using slap shots rather than top spin smashes so that Lin hit it outside while trying to generate that top spin. And that tactic started working from the 4th game. It is ridiculous if you think that Ma Long was down 3-0 and 5-1 in the 4th game and then proceeded to win that game along with the other 3 to bag the trophy. Truly, the Dragon, the Dictator, the greatest of all time. No debate.
I have watched some of Ma Long's comebacks over the past 2 decades, but this one stands out as the best one. He dominated two left-handed players consecutively on his way to win the title.
I have been playing and following TT since 2019 , I first saw Ma Long vs Fan Zhendong 2017 WTTC finals. Since then , I have always been a fan of the GOAT. Coming back , down 3-0 to win the World Cup at age 35 , this man is truly the greatest player in the history of TT. Don't forget the 2 olympic golds and 3 World TT Championship titles as well 👽 and 2 DOUBLE GRAND SLAMS 6:03 WOW 7:44 🐐
I've been looking at athletes in other sport to see how they stay highly competitive when they might be past their prime - like Nadal, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition to self - discipline and training, adjusting my mindset and expectation of myself are also critical. --Ma Long
One of the craziest and most exciting comebacks in recent years, and the happiest thing is that the one doing it is the dragon Ma Long, very impressive. This comeback takes me back 7-9 years when Ma Long was the king of this undefeated game. Really playing for Pantheon
This is just INSANE!!!!! It definitely is one of the unique matches that I've seen Ma Long played! Ma Long, you have impressed all of us AGAIN (since the last Olympics beating Fan Zhendong) in a very different way!
I don't know how it's even possible to beat Lin in such a form but the G.O.A.T. was just unbelievable! I knew after being down 0:3 he will come up with something spectacular! The King is back!
Another thing I noticed is that he didn't get the points by his aggressive forehand smashes that much as he usually gets,he just placinghis shots to the opposite ends of the table.he barely moved in 5th and 6th set. Its all about experience and composure.
Fang Bo has said that so many people underrated Ma Long's defense. Compared to Ma Long's game several years ago, you could tell a huge difference now. Ma Long's defense is just so stable and makes great placement.
