Winning the World Cup is the pinnacle achievement in soccer/football. Did Messi win anything like that? Let me put this into perspective. Cristiano is the best player when he is playing against 3rd tier competition. Messi is good and much better than Cristiano but he does not even come close to many great football players before him. We don't have to search far away from Missi's home country. Diego Maradona accomplished way more than Messi did unless Messi can win at least 1 World Cup in the future. In Table Tennis, it is the dream of any professional players to win the WTTC World Championship. As for Mr. Ma Long, this gentleman won 3 consecutive WTTC and therefore can be compared to any of the greatest TT players ever. Therefore, Messi can only wish he can accomplish 1/3 of what Ma Long did.
@@benthekeeshond545 You can't compare that. Table Tennis is an individual sport. In football you can be the best individual player, but you need a great team to win some tournaments and so on. Additionally a table tennis player can win more titles, because there are more tournaments. For example, in football the World Cup is just played every 4 years. Furthermore Ma Long can even win some team events easy, because China is by far the best nation in Table Tennis. Messi and his national team have much more competitors about the titles. Last but not least Messi won many Ballon D'ors, an individual award for the best football player of the year. So you can't really put Ma Long over Messi, if you can even compare them.
Ma Long, the best in the world, playing a European player that he always beats fairly easily and prepares for the match way harder then him. Now we know why he dominates

Alexandru Constantin I think most of the Chinese team went through an overhaul of rackets and this was ma long's first tournament with this new 5 layer wood racket. Hence he was practicing.
