In this video I show you my first shots with the MAC 9 DS and give you my initial first impression! This video format is best suited for viewing on your phone as it was shot in portrait mode!
I have over 1800 rounds through mine with no issues. Tuned the trigger and got it down to 3.5lbs and its even faster now. It is weird you had an issue with the prodigy mags because I run a 20 and 26rd with no issues. My mag release was also super stiff and had to be tweaked, it didnt break in after 1k rounds.
thats awesome to hear! its definitely an underated gun. the only issue i had with the prodigy mags was the basepad on the 20 rounders didnt wanna allow the mag to lock in with the magwell installed. once i took the magwell off i was able to run them.
Considering one myself so I can share mags for now instead of going to a different platform again. Eventually it will happen anyway. 😂 Nature of the 2A addiction.
I have the Mac 9, prodigy, Apollo 11 and Tisas Night Stalker Double Stack. All of them are very good entry level 2011’s 🙂👍🏼🇺🇸💥 snagged my Mac 9 for $750 shipped brand new and that is a price I can say is unbeatable
yeah thats a steal!! even at around a grand the MAC 9 is a great deal!! everyone i know that got an apollo 11 has had malfunctions right out the box. at least with the compact. hows your experience been?
@JuiceOg0311 Nothing is wrong with the prodigy bro. You 🤡 act like staccato isn't mass-produced. Holla at me when you have a Nighthawk, Atlas, or a Vulcan!
i rank it with the prodigy in overall value for sure. prodigy still has much better grip texture and a better trigger. slide action is also smoother on prodigy. but the prodigy uses MIM parts which are known to be less reliable, where the mac does not. so for a few hundred dollars less id say the trade off is fair. but the platypus is levels above both of them. the platypus could be sold as a 2500 dollar gun easily.
@@Targetacquiredtv I really have my eyes on the new bul armory edc pro. I was trying to get the old sas II tac. But since the new 2024 line is coming out. The pro model has ports.
@@lmSteveo yeah im actually working on getting a tac sas ll right now! Bul Armory makes some dope 2011s. Id absoutely love to own the pro with the ports or even the pro comp they just debuted at guncon thats ported and comped!!
@@Targetacquiredtv are you trying to get the 2023 model or the 2024 model? Ha, they make it confusing when they have the sas ii tac names. The 2024 tac pro 4.24 and 5 inch was sitting for a while. Took about 3-5 hrs to completely sell out of the pro model.
@@lmSteveo 2023 just because im trading for it so dont have to come out of pocket at all. id obviously rather have newer but just bought the platypus and two more SROs this week
Same dude, I’m sick of people calling it a budget gun, 500 is a budget gun, these people are completely out of touch, if you think a grand is budget then you must not no the economy we are living in
you sir are the one thats out of touch if you think a 2011 retailing for about a grand isnt a budget 2011. we are talking 2011s here. not glocks, not m&ps, not ruger or taurus. by all means those are more budget friendly guns, but they arent 2011s. educate yourself.
@@that_one_guy117x youre talking a 200 to 250 dollar difference, theyre still in the same conversation. and funny enough both made by tisas but the mac 9 was desgined by milarmamentcorp and has much better features. the apollo 11 is another budget 2011 for around a grand. these are all considered "budget 2011s" by the gun community because before them the cheapest 2011 was the prodigy at around 1400-1500, and before that you couldnt get one cheaper than 2500. as i said, educate yourself, instead of crying about verbiage on the internet.
We're on the same journey because I also picked up the OA Defense 2311. Regarding the Prodigy mags, I found that in order to get a couple of mine to fit, I needed to press the mag release as I was inserting them and then they would seat. The mag release on my MAC is extremely tight (I've seen this be an issue with other RU-vidr's builds as well) and I believe that is what's causing the issue. I initially thought it was the magwell itself as well.
It is legit man, zero malfunctions and runs like a 2011 should right outta the box. Can't say the same for some of the competitors at this price point 😅
Hey man I really like your videos! Question for you since you would know. As someone who is gonna enter the 2011 game what would you choose… prodigy… Apollo 11… mac 9…. KDS9C…. OA2311…. If you could only have one. And maybe your 2nd pick too pleeeease! Great content!
thank you! so i own all of those except the apollo 11 and ill tell you why. everyone i know that got an apollo had malfunctions straight outta the box and had to dump a bunch of money into to get it to be a decent gun. as far as the rest, you really cant go wrong with any of them. the 2311 is my favorite gun overall to run hands down. thats my gun i run in uspsa matches. it feels the best in the hands and i get the best grip on it thanks to the stippled thumb ledges. trigger is amazing as well. the kds9c is my daily carry beause its the first 2011 ive found thats easily comfortably concealed. the fluted barrel also stops it from getting too hot so i can stick it back down my pants without worrying after dumping a few mags. and then as far as the prodigy and mac 9 you really cant go wrong with either. both great entry level 2011s. prodigy has the better grip and trigger. mac 9 has better quality internals. all depends on how much you want to spend at that point since the mac 9 is a few hundred less. happy to answer any other questions you may have, any time!
@@Targetacquiredtv thanks for the quick reply! That’s good info right there thank you! I’ve always been a striker fire kinda guy which I still love em’ of course but I’m ready to finally try a 2011. Your videos are great content for someone like myself looking to get into them. I appreciate the time you spend breaking it all down. Keep it up and I look forward to more videos!
rmr plate for mac 9. it doesnt co witness the sites at all and im used to co witnessing so it was a bit different but ive learned where to put the dot for the most part
In this video im running my tier 1 msp holster. fits all my guns since i run the same lights on all of them! last holster ill probably ever have to buy for iwb.
@Targetacquiredtv Same here bro. After I destroyed my ankle and could no longer rip on the board, I got into firearms big time which isn't a bad trade off. I still follow the up and coming talent though. They're beyond better than what I could've imagined.
none whatsoever. and that was something i was worried about after watching someone elses review saying that may be a potential issue. it actually doesnt hang over the ejection port very far. not as bad as it would on a sig m18. and ive put another 500 rounds throgh it since this video and not one single malfunction of any kind.
Not sure which part youre referring to. the gun doesnt go into slide lock due to the mags i was using. so if it went click, no bang at any point in the video, it was empty.
for sure. i just prefer to run extended mags in all my guns rather than flush fit, and i have a handful of prodigy 20 rounders i use with it now that i took the magwell off.
@@Targetacquiredtv i understand you but what i'm saying is this is ot the guns problem, prodigy should make their mags universal so you can use them all in 2011's right?
@@avigares yea i never said it was the guns problem, i said its one of two things i dislike about it. take it for what it is, an opinion. im not sure springfield would care to make their mags universal with all 2011s. i mean they are for the most part already. they work fine with my staccatos magwell.
it is. but had same problem with the original. was hoping this one would slide in past that little thingy easier (someone tell me its proper name) but no luck. hoping it breaks in over time before i just take a file to it. havent heard of anyone else complaining of the same issue so im sure mine is a one off.
Seen you jerk that last shot when empty on your 1st tighter group attempt. Things like that are going to throw you off so be mindful of what your doing. Liking the review so far. Back to watching.
i appreciate the analysis my friend!! i noticed it too. combination of anticipating recoil and that empty trigger is what im thinking. but i definitely have a tendency to anticipate recoi (hence the low left shots)
My understanding is it's from a competition shooting stand point. If you look into it, many 2011 competition guns and they're mags are made that way. Not entirely sure of the benefits or reasoning other than the argument that you should be timing your reloads where lock back won't happen anyway. But again I'm no expert on the matter
I don't get calling a $1000 gun " budget". Nice piece from what I'm seeing but considering one can find a good weapon for $300 (Stoeger STR 9) or a 1911 Tisas Nightstalker, $331.I don't think a grand is in the budget category.
its referred to as a budget 2011 because 1k is about as cheap as youll find a quality 2011. the nightstalker 2011 (double stack 1911) costs aroud 950 and the other tisas double stack 1911s cost about 800 msrp. so sure you can obvioulsy find guns cheaper. but we're talking about 2011s specifically here. hence the title of the video. before springfield released the prodigy i think 2 years ago now, 2011s started at around 2500
Definitely budget friendly! For the quality! 2011 Sheshh! Fast 💨 with it!🔥 thanks for the review! And I’m over here thinking about getting a staccato 😅 I think this one will do!
@@Targetacquiredtv your not lying, it would just take longer to save up is all! Hheeeellpppppp! Lol Hah! Mac would be my first 2011 but if I was to get the staccato it would be my last! lol 😂 😅😅 geez!…. 🤧🤧
@@antoniobustamante548 for your first 2011 this is an excellent entry pistol. and trust me, its never the last 2011 once you go down this rabbit hole lol
