Mac once had to stay at my pal's pad because he's venue didn't book him a hotel and we offered our place. Mac was one of the nicest guys to ever hang with.
Where do you live? Same thing happened to a buddy of mine who lived in Ottawa, somehow the band didn't have a hotel booked and he managed to convince Mac and the band to come party and crash at his place
It’s both ways, depending on how popular the artist is the typically would pay them to come so that their channel can get more popular, but it’s also the other way around too, except the artist is promoting themselves instead of promoting the channel
@Eddie V Henry Rollins is the same way. On the show he said he often makes eggs with soy sauce because he doesn't like to spend money and fears the day executives in any field he works in will realize he has no talent (his words) and stop hiring him.

I saw Mac on tour in September of 2017, met him right after the show. Super humble and chill guy, put on one hell of a show. Saw his mode of transportation, it's literally a van. He's one of the most simple and endearing artists out there.
