it’s the people he came up across. spending time and rapping with earl sweatshirt, ab soul, kendrick, etc made him go up a notch with his lyricism. hanging with thundercat influenced his production. being with artsits like ty dolla sign helped him with the singing. i have been following Mac since 2010 and the way he wanted to grow as an artist and as a person just inspired me, still does
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It’s literally Mac explaining perfectly how he ends up dying, and that’s exactly what happened. Every single line is a snapshot of how he passed. He drew a perfect circle.
Mac Miller has had one of the greatest growths I've ever seen in rap. From where he was in 2010 with Kids, and then the style he developed in his latter albums is so impressive
@Dion B It was incredible to witness. He was a legit musical genius. He taught himself to play 4 or 5 different instruments by the age of 8. He was constantly trying to progress which can be tough when you have had enormous success in one genre but he was fearless. It’s scary to follow your heart and not the money. By the end of his career I don’t think there is a single genre of music you could box him into. He was so original and honest in his work. I didn’t really become a fan until Watching Movies but he changed so much from that album in 2013 until his passing it was incredible. It’s so nice to see how many people appreciate his music as much as I do.
The "only 23 but my mind is older" line is a homage to Prodigy "I'm only 19 but my mind is older, which ironically shows how even more beyond his years Prodigy was to be saying the shit he said at such a young age.
*******NEW IDEA******** ******FOR STEVIE******* ****MIDWEEK MAC***** Mac honestly been like a brother to me through his music from when he done cruisin'. The most well diverse artist of our generation. RIP Mac.
Its not from the same album but please do both. Mac has so much good content. It's a shame other big reactors dont dive more into him. Please don't stop reacting to Mac. No one will be disappointed, especially not you. Respect the game and be genuine. Mac did that. RIP to the Legend
everyone talks about how mac went from a kid who rapped about partying with his friends to someone who rapped about deeper stuff and brought other genres into rap, but no one talks about why. he obviously struggled with his mental health and his depression was one of the things that fueled his creativity. it was amazing to see but also sad
The why is that he put so much work into the Best Day Ever Mixtape and Blue Slide Park which his fans loved, but the critics roasted the absolute fuck out of it and didn’t respect at all. They said he was “just another frat rapper” because he was a kid having fun making music with his friends. He started doing a lot harder drugs after that and started dropping things like Watching Movies and faces
You're right that his style completely changed. I honestly did not like "KIDS" mixtape, but it has some good songs on it. Macadelic is where you see his style sort of start to form and it progresses from there. You're wrong with Jet Fuel and this song being on the same album. Jet Fuel is on Swimming - This is on GO:OD AM. Either way, both are great albums.
Exactly how I describe him to people, more then just a rapper. Definitely an Artist, makes 90 percent of his own beats. Has a jazz album and plays multiple different instruments. R.I.P Mac
I think once he did "Watching Movies With the Sound Off" he started working with the internet and he started focusing more on the vibes/ harmonized raps. But kept the bars coming
Yep I was a fan of mac but wmwtso made me go this is the guy..then faces hit right after..he was on another level, progressing into jazz the deep ass double/triple entendres.. Man I miss him.
You are right about his transformation. Went from a kid talking about partying and chilling with friends to an introspective guy who broke the mold of rapping into other genres
This Song ist from 2015 GO:OD AM, Jet Fuel is 2018 Swimming His whole discography is worthing diving into tho Never would've thought an artist could have such an impact on my life but damn, Mac was really one of a kind, RIP G
“ Just Some Raps, Nothing to See Here, Move Along ” ( name of the song) is one of the hardest Set of Mac Miller bars. You should definitely check it out
REST IN PEACE MAC MILLER. This song is from Go:od AM (2015) and Jet Fuel is from Swimming (2018). Both are incredible projects and showcase different talents. Thanks for covering Mac, the world needs to hear what he had to say. Stay healthy, friends.
I found Mac Miller when I was at my lowest, about 2 years ago... The problems he had were different, but relatable. Listening to his albums helped me grieve and wake up from a depression brought about by my mother's death. I still listen to his music every day. His music is powerful and the posthumous release of his most recent album was truly a special gift. I highly recommend listening to an artist that's featured on that album, Baro Sura.
Thanks for doing another Mac Miller song. He died when he was 26. I get angry when I think about the talent that is gone now. He has so many unreleased songs, so there will be more coming out. Last year the CD 'Circles' came out and it is even more artistic. Not as hard, but more dark than anything else. It's a vibe, for sure. I love it. One of my other faves is 'Cinderella'. He did a colab with Anderson paak too.
Mac had a HUGE buzz when he first came out but even though he became a better and better artist as time passed it's like he became more and more underrated/listened to. It's been great to see how much people love this man's music even if they only went back to it after he passed.
Would love to see a reaction vid to Mac’s mixtape Faces. It’s a ride. It marks Mac’s drug use on a larger scale, but can serve as a launching point and influence for his later projects like GO:OD AM/Swimming.
Love the vid Stevie, as Always. You should check out Macadelic. I feel that was when he started his transition into this more diverse stuff. Still some bangers on there but also some really smooth ones. Thanks again bruh
Btw the voicemail part of the song, was a voicemail from his brother when mac was in a really dark place. Also this isn't from the same album as Jet Fuel, Jet Fuel was on Swimming. Perfect Circle/Godspeed was from GO:OD AM :)
Stevie just a heads up, this song is from his album GO:OD AM from 2015. The song Jet Fuel is from his album Swimming that came out in 2018 the year he passed away. Mac Miller is a good artist to do complete from start to finish album reviews. I got a song recommendation that's not from either of these two albums. Mac Miller ft. Lil Wayne- The Question. It's off his Macadelic mixtape
I'm sure this is the most Shallow comment U ever received but....If yo FINE AZZ post some Shirtless Videos....Yo Cash Apps Going Thru Tha ROOF Promise!😃😍😍😝😝😝😝
This song still brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it. The way he knew how this path he was leading on was ultimately going to be his downfall. 😭. Almost like he knew he was gonna die. We lost a legend here. This song is perfect beyond words.
iTry to everyday for the last 3 yrs 6months 6days. Why should me & miller have to hog up all the trauma & pain to ourselves? what makes us so "lucky" knowing the last time we'd ever hold our baby brothers, was loading them into a hearse! there's no doubt in my mind we both sacrifice our lives because no mother should ever, ever, ever, ever be put in that situation. and im gonna guess, all his closest friends & family hated that song back then....iCant go there right now long live larry
Thank you for doing this Stevie. I've been with you since 3k subs. Hopefully you do more Mac Miller. I personally believe he's the greatest artist of our generation. He played & recorded instruments in segments to record a lot of his music. Produced the beats, played the piano, wrote the lyrics.... He was only 26... I think you'd love Ava Maria Diablo Hurt feelings Here we go Grand Finale Just to name a few
First time I ever even heard about Mac Miller, he was a teenager with his own show on MTV doing all kinds of crazy shit. It was a great show because I would do that same crazy shit if I had the money to do so 😆 I’m like 20 years older then him but I’d still watch his show. At the time I looked up his music just to see if I would be interested and I didn’t like it back then. After he died I stumbled across the video Jet Fuel and really liked it because it was his own style, like kind of hip hop but almost a different genre all together. Like nobody sounded like this but him and had a very artistic vibe to it. It’s interesting when great artists are at their darkest moments, they produce their greatest music and shortly after, pass away…
Mac really took the critic's words to heart and wanted to show them that hes not just the "frat rap" genre they put I'm him in. They never thought mac had deep lyricism when if you really listened to his music it was really good but he evolved every album and really showed his growth.
Mac Miller most definitely grew throughout every single drop and his music was continuously evolving with his life. Malcom was and is one of a kind as a rapper, a true student of the game. And he has already, and will be missed forever
Mac got better and better as he got older, all the way up until his death. Imagine if we had another 10 years of this genius. How many more people he would have helped
Hey S. Knight, this song is from the album GO:OD A.M. Jet Fuel is from Swimming. Both are great projects but If you want to hear Mac being in his most creative state in my opinion is on the record Faces. Hands down the best piece of work.
Mac kept challenging himself to be better. A true musician. He wanted to master the craft. And he was starting to. Another reason why his early departure hurts even more, as a fan you saw him grow and it was beautiful.
Swimming is an example of an artist experiencing an epiphany of his life and life in general. He wrote about at his life, where he’s at and his future. It’s a glorious album. The writing, the production and musicians. Thunder at, Snoop Dog and Syd. So moving and literally perfect.
I always instantly click Mac Miller react videos. So please do a dive in. He's got so much good music in his catalog. Faces, Macadelic, Delusional Thomas are my favorites. But his older more poppy stuff has a lot of tracks I listen to constantly. Kool aid and frozen pizza, Nikes on my feet, another night. Man it goes on and on.
Crazy thing is I never listened to Mac Miller til he passed. I started hearing his name mentioned more often before he passed. So I knew somewhere my head this guy is starting to grow a following that is only going to get bigger at this rate. In the documentary, it showed that he did know how to play at least two instruments
Check out his "Hand Me Downs" video. It shows clips of him in the studio doing literally EVERYTHING! Playing drums, guitar, keyboard, xylophone, even producing beats. He did pretty much everything himself his entire career. He produced some of his very first music videos all by himself, right in his own neighborhood... at the park, in front of his school, at a local restaurant (Frick Park Market), in the middle of the street... The man was brilliant!
This was the first song I thought of the second that I had heard he died. Next was the line in Brand Name where he said, "To all the people who sell me drugs, don't mix it with that bullshit, I'm hopin' not to join the 27 club."
Jet Fuel was off Swimming and Perfect Circle/Godspeed was off GO:OD AM. GO:OD AM (Perfect Circle) came out in 2015 and Swimming (Jet Fuel) came out in 2018.
The style change that you are talking about was a long progression that started with Macadelic. Macadelic, Watching Movies, and Faces is what led us to GOOD AM
“I’m only 23 but my mind is older and it’ll forever be” is a dope flip on prodigy’s line from shook ones “I’m only 19 but my mind is old” idk how I never noticed that until watching this video
