Macbook 2015 Review in 2022. Is it still worth it? AMD R9 m370x and core i7 4980hq 2.8 GHz. 

The thing that really upset me and threw me off was that i had notifications that my apple id no longer will work on my macbook pro. And i got really frustrated because i got messages stopping me from reqding pdf opening word or outlook and doing other things. I didnt realize that all i had to do was create a new apple id. So yeah it works great with monterey. No nees for ventura.

Preferably mid-2015 models when Force touch was integrated.

if you really need the latest mac os you can patch it and load it my old MacBook pro 2011 is running Catalina which i patched high sierra simply was too old for me.

I use it for editing 1080p vids in Premiere. Like you say it works like a dream.

It what way does it run better than Monterey?

@@doge8676 I feel like the graphic animations run a bit smoother than with Monterey. Nothing hugely noticeable, but I was actually expecting the opposite - sloppier animations - so I was very surprised at how well it runs. I also applied model spoofing with the patcher (I chose MacBook Pro 15 inch 2017) which allowed to unlock the Low Power Mode feature which is great since my mid2015 doesn't have crazy battery life anymore.

@@Alex.Hilman performance is ok, I’m honestly impressed with how many tracks I can run without getting any audio dropout. What’s really bothering me though is fan noise, it really is an issue both for mixing and for recording. For 500$ I wouldn’t not recommend this MacBook anymore ! For just a bit more money you could try getting a MacBook Pro M1 2020. It’s a much better and more silent machine if you’re okay with having a 13-inch screen and using a dongle. Or if you really want a big screen for cheap, try getting a MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019 with the 8-core i9, but you’ll still get fan noise. Don’t get the 15-inch 2019 version, those still have butterfly keyboards as well as overheating issues

@@timrault Yeah you're right but I'm worried about 8 GB of RAM with MacBook Air M1! So in conclusion the 2015 would not be worthy anymore in 2024 already. I don't know why there are some people who still persist in selling this 9 years old machine so expensive like $500. C'mon! It's so expensive! there is 2 TB nvme gen 4 in marketplace, it's stable for hard work because this will use the cheap converter ??

that program is ending and those keyboards will continue to fail; it's not a 1 time thing.

The same, I use Monterey . But , I didn’t notice any problems with overheating. I guess it’s time for you to check the thermal paste and clean the cooler with radiator.

Nope, the air model much more worse in terms of performance and specifications.

I bought a battery with increased capacity. After 20 minutes of watching RU-vid it’s still 100 %. Then it lasts for whole day. But I don’t use heavy apps. Only browser and RU-vid.

Hello, No, it is not possible to upgrade the graphics card of a 2015 MacBook Pro Retina. No internal parts are upgradable except the hard drive, and even that is a pain to do. You might be able to use an external GPU , but I have never tried one myself.

@@dados3411 sorry, didn’t see that there was no dedicated gpu. I used this MacBook only with iris graphics but it very slow when it comes to rendering. But even on a machine with no dedicated gpu I’ve made 4-5 videos for this channel. With r9 370x it is 4x faster.

@@ibnuaziz3921 if you are talking about air with intel cpu so I would choose 2015 pro, because I compared my MacBook with 2019 pro model 13 and mine won . It’s 1.5 times faster only because of gpu. Mine has many ports and bigger screen , and it’s cheaper. I would choose 2015 pro.

@@Joshua-hf5ui depends on your major and university For example graphics design in a Canadian college requires a really powerful laptop and there are also OS requirements (only Microsoft Windows). If you are going to use it only for making Presentations, browsing the web, watching RU-vid - it’s fine. But I cannot guarantee you that this laptop will fit any university program requirements.
