It's great to find this video on my recommendation because this is exactly the answer I was looking for it. I was mostly inclined towards 14" MBP based on "those" RU-vid reviews. But I can clearly see that 8 Core CPU / 8 Core GPU / 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD version of MBA can do my job fine. Those 37 tracks of 8k files doesn't matters to me. Since I'll only edit 4k vlogs. Also Photoshop seems to do fine with Stacking (Star Trail / Milky way / Focus stack). Yup 2 ports seems to be an issue. However I can use that leftover amount to get a decent Monitor and a Hub instead of stretching my budget with 14" MBP
I am glad it helped:) Let me know if you come across a good hub. It seems to be the weak point. The one I have is "decent", but it gets really warm with HDMI connected.
I just saw this video and Channel... thank you for this video I am looking to purchase a Mac Laptop... I just bought the iPad m2 16gb 1tb... IT IS POWERFUL but... I want to pair it off with a Mac Laptop... I am looking at reviews for Macbook Air M1...
I have the base mba m1 with 8gb of ram. In my experience it can handle Lightroom and photoshop editing 35mp raw files, but nothing more than that. It does the job however I wished I upgraded to 16gb of ram.
Thank you this is what I was looking for. BestBuy has the MBP 14 M1Pro for 1,599 right now but if I can save 400$ and just get the M2 mba is sounding very tempting.
Great honest review I too am a novice when it comes to photo and video editing But soon I hope to get learning more on this since I always liked photography Bee n use macs since 2009 and always found them to much better and longer lasting than windows Quality wise no mater your use senerio Apple is a more quality product, although more expensive. In the end you get what you pay for. Recently ordered the MacBook Air m2 with 16 go ram and 512 drive and the 10 core model Really can’t wait till it arrives Either way I know I won’t be disappointed coming fro the 2009 model which by the way still work well with Lightroom 4 Thks again for your review and look forward to you future videos Till the have a great day
Loved your vid came across it on my recommended, just got an M1 air with 16 gb ram and 512 gb ssd glad your enjoying yours and hope to be enjoying mine as well working on projects on it. P.S. I subscribed
Great, informative video here! I’m a novice when it comes to photo editing, but it’s good to know my machine can handle basically anything I’ll be doing as I continue to learn.
The M1 air with 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd costs me around 1500 Euros, the M2 Air with the same config costs almost 2000 Euros just the same as the 14 M1 pro. I have started video editing as a hobby and currently use my desktop pc (R5 5600x, 3080, 32gb ram) for that but I want something as well for the go since I am often on the go. Which model would you recommend me? I want to keep the device at least for 5 yrs.
I would still go with the M1/16/512 - you will need an external SSD right away for the video. That's how I would invest the remaining 500 difference. I am using a fast SSD 1TB as a working drive and then an external 4TB to archive the working drive once I am done. This is not a long-term solution. I have to delete a lot of files instead of archiving them. I don't know about you, but my requirement for storage is growing really fast. 2TB Samsung T7 is currently around 200 euros. I don't use my PC workstation anymore, I think I will sell it soon and get a Mac Studio.
@@sasanmanprinceofpersia1233 I wouldn't know. I can only rely on the specs in that matter, I would imagine it's very similar. Pro is supposed to hold it for a little longer, but if you don't work from "9 to 5", you probably wouldn't notice the difference - both will hold it for very long. Although, probably less than advertised. I would say after months of using it on the go, the problem doesn't exist. I also got a powerbank with PD (for my phone) and it works with the m1. The only reason why I would go with the Pro is the card reader.
I’m not saying you’re not handsome, but I don’t want to look at a dude for 10 minutes straight. Show us some screen grabs and performance of your MacBook Air. Show rather than tell 👍
hellooo thank you so much for the information i"m new subs 👍🔔 please what do you recommend i use photoshop, SketchUp, manga studio, and of course as a RU-vidr video editing, which laptop can i buy with a low budget, i need youuuuuuuuuuuu help please
I have zero experience with Sketch up and Manga Studio. I'd be interested myself to see how MacBook Air M1 handles 3d... It might be difficult to find a budget version for your needs.
hey, i would like to buy a macbook air m1 16/512, is it still worth it by now? i will use it for really basics stuff but im scared it won't last me 6 years (that's what i need, REALLY IMPORTANT), or should i go for the macbook air m2 8/512 with 10 gpu, or maybe macbook pro 13" (2020) please some advice?
I don't think you should be scared it won't last 6 years:) All three will be in the same category by that time. I can't guarantee that we won't be shooting 8K Raw with our phones, and a medium format sensor is going to be in toy cameras only, but I am guessing it's safe to say this will not happen as a part of "basic stuff" in 2028. I would go with the m2, only if it had a built-in card reader (due to the nature of my work) but I would still need 16GB. I wouldn't consider 8GB at all for future-proofing. The M1 is still great. I would rather spend the difference on additional storage if you plan to use it on the go. I am guessing the m2 and pro 13 with 8GB ram will be less relevant in 6 years than m1/16GB. Especially if you decide to do something more advanced in the future.
I'd imagine this would be very challenging. 8 gigs of ram is not going to perform very well... Running LR and Ps with a browser in the background will quickly go above that.
@@ShutterTwist which laptop do u recommend I buy if all I need is photoshop, lightroom and helicon focus if I want smooth editing with the big uncompressed sony a7riv files?im kind of stuck
@@asa9268 I would go with the M1 Air / 16GB for the best value to performance. Go higher, if you have a budget. Perhaps it is worth looking into having your Sony files compressed? I am using in-camera compression for medium format files; the only difference I can see is the file size reduction. Don't be afraid of the "compression" term. It would be impossible to manage uncompressed files in my case. I don't see any benefits in using uncompressed files from the GFX. It is also important to think about the volume of your work. The more photos you have, it is a storage and a scratch disk concern.
No, from what I hear, it's better to stay away from 8gb. It's worth it to pay a little extra. I will also have a long term review up online very soon. Stay tuned:)
Great Work! I got the video in my recommendations nad it was interesting to see that RU-vid is promoting not so famous youtubers as well. All the best for your journey!
@@ShutterTwist It's more important to get started. I'm sure you're gonna be great! All the best for your journey. I too plan to start mine. Will do a long term review soon on my channel
