Great review. Thanks for the upload. I just purchased one for $100 plus sales tax from an eBay seller. It's a mid 2015, 2.8 ghz, 16gb of ram and a 1tb SSD. It would hang up when booting and the screen was red. Quite odd but I took a chance because I have another one with a bad screen. The screen and the 1tb ssd were worth the price alone. What I found was somehow the OS got corrupted. I was able to go into the recovery mode and reinstall the OS. The red screen went away and the unit seemed to function normally but it was still password locked from the previous owner. I had to back into the recovery mode and totally erase the SSD and install the OS before I was able to get into it. It works like a new machine now. I use it for mobile music recording. The Thunderbolt ports are a perfect match for my Focusrite Thunderbolt interface, which Focusrite still supports.
I am still using my Mid 2015 13" MacBook Pro. I changed the battery and the hard disk myself. It still works without any problems. The new MacBooks are nice but I don't like the keyboard. I use the USB A very often with my MacBook. Therefore, I will keep using my 2015 version until it dies.
I'm still using mine almost 10 years later Thinking about buying a new motherboard to upgrade RAM, SSD also Battery has been replaced had to install linux on it because it fails to run any version after High sierra
My 2009 macbook pro core2duo with Catalina died last year, and only the LCD screen fogged, the machine still worked but the LCD replacement is still high priced in my country. I am considering buying a 2015 MacBook Pro
I'm using my mid 15 pro since 2017, with McOS Sierra, working great, limited to very few apps, but battery still running over 4-5h. Used a lot for editing - PS, Premiere Pro, ID, LR. I am not sure an update would keep it alive.
@@joelizzu about 4 hours for yt, browsing,....2 hours or less when doing heavy stuff like editing video, rendering.... Maybe i should replace the battery though...😅
@@christoffermyrdal My bluetooth wireless ear pods work. I don't use Airpods. As for performance both my 13.3 and 15.6 2015 units run OCLP Sonoma and work better then they did on Monterey. Your personal experience may not reflect others.
@@christoffermyrdal the bluteooth on my macbook is also working and performance is not affected. the only issue is that the keyboard tends to get warm and the fan would kick from time to time espeically when i am watching youtube vids.
That’s true, you may get different results on the bluetooth connectivity based on what model you are installing on and what version, I should have made that more clear.
I still use Macbook Pro 2015 13" for my job, it's still good with Catalina. Too bad that the Safari is not supported anymore, maybe I'll change to M1 by the end of this year :)))
i still use my 2015 macbook...i swear its faster than my 2020 macbook ....unfortunately ill have to retire it because of software issues...gonna get m3 macbook
@@Sr_iRL all i9’s seem to overheat in laptop form. I splashed out on a Dell precision i9 back in 2019, it overheated and shorted itself out after 2 years of use. Had it repaired and a year later it happened again so I just gave up on it. Bought a very high spec 2019 16 MacBook Pro as a cheap replacement as it was secondhand and it been perfect. 4TB drive but only 16gb ram but it works really well.
