I still have a 2011 13 inch macbook pro and I love it! These thing were built for eternity. I replace the battery every 18 months everything else is just running and running. It's not my main machine. I use it as a sandbox. Installed Debian on it. Awesome.

I have been watching this channel for a few years and I don't think I have ever seen a desktop motherboard in for repair, only laptop. Is this just the nature of laptop mobos? They overheat and get destroyed? Whereas desktop mobos have better airflow so they never go bad? Does Big Boss repair them so we never see them? Do they not short out in the same way? Or maybe the only components that go bad are user replaceable like CPU/GPU/Fan/DRAM/HDD/SDD, etc? Just curious. Thanks for all your hard work. Better than factory and Best repair channel on youtube!

I have a mac pro looks like same computer with cd on the side not working. but now being so old and runs as slow as molasses, but once started after about half an hour up gets a little faster, also had replacement screen a couple years ago. is it fixable?

the CD drive can be replaced, just need to buy the parts and either do it yourself or get help. for the slow system, if it's running on HDD then better upgrade to SSD and if there are any available RAM slot then upgrade the RAM as well (as long as it is supported)

Great video again! Let me ask something, please: What if the machine turns on, you see the Apple logo but after a few seconds the screen goes white and then black? At first it was a bad GPU. I knew it because the 4 LED check I learned from you. I changed the GPU board. I was able of running the machine just in safe mode with magenta smears on the screen. But right now it is as I described above. Please, help me.

I don't understand zero ohm resistors. Why not run a trace instead? Is it a "hop" in the PCB?

It's pretty certain to be a fusible link - SMC fuse - to protect the mainboard from damage if there's excessive current draw on the power rail, probably 3.3V. There can be just a zero ohm link if that solves an awkward trace routing issue, but going open is more likely to indicate a fuse, certainly there is normally a fuse serving that function which causes a white screen when it blows.

The same happens to my MacBook pro 2012 13 " but works just fine with an external display. Anyone on the same situation? Can it be fixed in the same way that the MacBook in the video?
