Macchi C.202 Folgore X Spitfire V│IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Multiplayer 

I had a blast in that dogfight, thanks a lot! As you managed very tight turns, I felt the end of my pilot coming ever closer, it was really thrilling! Shame about the skin. The 202 is already hard to identify as it is.

Great tips! Shouldn't get that slow with this plane, power output seems much worse at slow speeds.

I wouldn't mind getting a cannon or two though (it only has low rate-of-fire machine guns). But it's part of the Italian experience.

Hey there, I think it's worth it. Just to be clear there are two il-2 series: 1) great battles, with battle of (...), and 2) cliffs of dover, which has the tobruk expansion. so if you get tobruk you won't play it with say battle of stalingrad, for instance, as they are 2 separate games. Both are great. Did you play cliffs of dover? With Cliffs of Dover+Tobruk you can play on TWC server, which has my favorite il-2 experience of them all. it's a dynamic campaign server with players and AI with a lot of features, you can check them here: www.reddit.com/r/il2sturmovik/comments/oasflm/cliffs_of_dover_blitztobruk_113_days_twcs_english/ The server is populated mostly during British/euro evenings. Otherwise this game suffers from a low MP population comparing to Great Battles. But even alone you can help your team by doing the objectives while avoiding AI air cover. You can check anytime how many people are playing online in the ATAG forum: theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/ Also there is a nice number of planes and campaigns for single player. If you prefer dynamic over static campaigns, you can use theOden's dynamic mission generator: forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/65736-updated-dynamic-campaign-by-theoden-dynmis-exe/ I'd say Dover+tobruk has more issues than Great Battles, but I think overall it's the best air combat experience. Ah if you join the TWC campaign I invite you to join blue (axis) team, specially if you like destroying ground targets (they are most dangerous for the pilot), we are always in need of those!

For better immersion I followed Italian doctrine of the time and only used basic acrobatics. BnZ is for losers! Just kidding, you are mostly right. Only thing is that it would be better to keep on a straight line rather than climb, the late model spit V climbs too well and it's easy to snipe enemies with the hispano.

@@pinguim01 Your initial attack forced him into a hard break-turn. That would have cut his speed considerably. If you had stayed straight and entered a modest climb there is no way he could successfully climb after you. Then, when you start running out of puff, just roll off the top of your climb and drop on him. Keep doing that until he's low and slow and you'll find it easy enough to kill him. You're never going to win a sustained turning duel with a Spit, so don't try.

I don't understand, that Macchi had the correct italian markings. Maybe just a mod?

the c.202 didn't have advantages in turn fighting, which was preferred by the Italians at least in the time period of this game. but it was faster specially in 'super' engine mode so it could use speed to gain separation and an advantageous position.

"Why is Spit fighting without flaps? )))))" IIRC Spitfire only has 1 flaps setting, full, which is only for landing.
