Today was a pretty solemn day. I've been watching and filming these Royal Air Force workhorses for years in the Mach Loop, but today was their last low level sortie.
On a farewell tour of the UK that took in the National Memorial Arboretum as well as RAF Cosford, Valley, Lossiemouth, Leeming, Waddington, Cranwell, MOD Boscombe Down and of course the former RAF Lyneham, they gave us one last pass in the Mach Loop. Whilst it was absolutely awesome to see three Hercs emerge from the Bwlch pass, it was sad to see them fade into the distance over Tal-y-llyn Lake and out to sea for the last time.
I always try to provide as much information as I can for pilots and crew, as well as the loyal fans out there. The aircraft were operating under the call sign OMEN, and were, in order of appearance:
OMEN1 ZH870
OMEN2 ZH868
OMEN3 ZH871
Farewell Lockheed C-130J :'(
