Yes, we do like to see what you guys buy. Many of us are learning. Seeing what you value and why is as useful as anything else. I'd like to add, please don't change your video style. I've seen many comments that sort of suggest you should "cut to the chase". Don't. I learn as much or more from your little here and there comments as I do from actually watching you work.
Absolutely no wrong impressions! I am an engineer, not a machinist, and love this content. I watch your videos mostly to lean more about processes, machining, and tools. While I may not ever buy or use any of this equipment myself, it certainly helps me as an engineer and project manager, to better understand what me and my team work with to get the job done on a daily basis. Keep it coming!
I have never thought you were a man to boast about anything. You are in an industry that has some cool gear and it is just the needs of the business. That said The care and love put in the old gear is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I'm just a casual viewer of machining videos but the woodworker in me is always pretty impressed with the boxes these nice measurement tools come in! Nice box seems to be a good indicator of nice tools :)
Wow Adam I’m really sorry you even have to say “this is not ego boasting video”. You are a very humble person, keep doing your thing cause you seem to doing something right by all your subs.
Are you kidding? I love watching these types. It lets us know what interests you. As a non-machinist, I find it very interesting to see the different tools and accessories that you guys use. One of the reasons I watch Mr Pete.
you know what else we the viewers like take us along when you go to service your auction treasures when you replace the battery etc. when you restore some of it win or fail
Adam, I've been watching your videos for a while. If you want to experiment, I'll be watching. You've earned it. The ones I think are best are where you are really into it and obviously enjoy sharing while you learn. The whole series of getting the shaper going for example, your love for what you are doing, and for sharing it, comes through. Folks like Mr Pete (I watch him too) you should listen to them all -- but then make your own decisions based on how well it goes for you.
Man, you are looking so good! Your energy levels seem to be up too. I subscribed some weeks ago and am binge watching your early production (around SNS 40 at the mo). I am an old geezer now but started out my life as an indentured engineering apprentice back in the 60’s. I then moved into IT as there was more money in it and that provided me with a good living. However I missed the craftsmanship and the constant intellectual stimulus of producing components to specification. So satisfying and your vids feed that nostalgia. Keep up the good work good Sir. Alan. UK
Watching the auction and this vid makes me think about the man who put this business together and all his hopes and dreams. It is sad that the business went away. Such is life.............
You need a label maker -- a *good* one... and someone to follow you around working the thing... and an inventory database. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with that cold!
In case you missed it in the other video, I think the bolts inside the box for the hardness tester are leveling feet. In some pictures of the unit online, they have 3 bolts as feet.
I enjoy these equipment/tool videos because of what I learn, the vicarious pleasure of pawing through other people's stuff, and, as for the auctions, I can't imagine the sheer scope and size of some machines. The Manown auction was very cool. I want a Bridgeport Mill to magically appear in my garage for a $100. ( Did I hear that right. The two sold for a hundred dollars each?)
Adam! What you do and other RU-vidrs helps us out no matter what. I'm learning and trying to machine as a hobby. I love the content and support the time and effort you guys put into filming and editing. Much love to ya!!👍👍
I see these videos as a chance to live vicariously through your auction experience. I'd love to hit an auction like that and quickly build tooling stock and measuring tools at low prices.
Keep posting, I personally really enjoy seeing what new tools you have acquired. It may be too personal but how much you were able to pick things up for is nice to hear. Or more importantly what you feel the tools are worth, in the event I was to come across tools for sale I am able to make sure I don't over pay for things!!!! Great videos man.
Hi Adam. I am new to machining and love to see your videos. They are like hands on lessons both in machinist work and where to look for good prices. I have learned that it doesn’t have to be new to be quality. Glad you made it into your uniform from the past. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Nice score man! I love these videos and the machining videos. Your stuff is always interesting and fun to watch. I love waking up on a Saturday knowing there's an upload to watch soon. Now there are even more, woo! Love the work, keep it up!
First time seeing this one. Don't know how I missed it when first published in 2019. Love these kind of videos of tool scores. And there is one more to see .... Yipee!! Great haul, Adam.
I LOVE auction win videos!! .. I also love to hear about the good deals you got! ...ALSO it's a great resourse for thoese new to buysing used dtuff or suctyions .... you can LITERALLY buy all kids of stuff you would NEVER get if you had to pay new price!! ...
Nice score Adam! I believe those adjustable vee blocks are used to support work during inspection on a surface plate. You can adjust them with a test bar and indicator to make sure the work is parallel to the surface plate. Essentially an alternative to using centers to inspect shafts and such.
Any chance that you can get all these add ons to the shop is just great. You got some really good things my friend. You may not use many of them all the time but when needed they are priceless. Your savings are huge fella !What a great post !
Engineers & machine shop guys really do build the world we live in, and personally I find it interesting to see the tools of the trade they use to reach nearest the perfection they aim for. Had no idea whatsoever the range of measuring tools a complete machine shop needs to have, very cool.
Thanks for sharing Adam and yes we all love seeing what you may find at an auction or flea market or even viewer mail. Your definitely a humble man and shows that your grandfather and father were quite the gentleman also and that stretched to you. Which in turn makes your videos that much more exciting. Watch out though auctions are very fun and a bit addicting to us tooling guys. Lol. Great finds there. Exciting!!!and the picture at the end of videos with all you men says it all.
woooooow. It was the Adam auction. Holy smoke. I love watching this stuff. I know nothing about machining but you going over the stuff is super interesting.
You don't have to explain anything about what some viewers may like or dislike. Haven't you noticed that the thumbs down are often among the first to watch the videos "all of the time". If you walked on water the "same few" would vote thumbs down. And yeah, you got some nice stuff there. Glad to see you with it.
Do we like these types of videos? Of course! Do they make us jealous? Of course! :) Keep it up man. You nailed it at that auction - and better you you get the plunder so we get to enjoy it vicariously through you!
Adam , We like to see and be told about tools We May Haven't seen . Or Even if We Have . Continue to Explain as Much as Possible . Please Don't Rush or Cut to the Chase . Hopefully We See Some in Use . And Please Continue Tips as Well . Thanks for taking time out for Us.
Those Jacobs chucks that seem to be locked up can easily be taken apart and cleaned. I have done several that that were being thrown out at work (before I retired), they work great after a good cleaning and a little deburring. Sure is a great batch of tooling for little investment.
One mans trash is another mans treasure. You were blessed to find get things no one else wanted. Make use of them or find them a home where they will be treasured. Its a win win.
I like seeing these really cool tools and precision instruments. It is almost like I am living vicariously through you guys showing off these items. I have never once thought you were showing this stuff as a "bragging rights" kind of thing. More of a show and tell thing where we viewers are seeing the different types of tools and what they can be used for. Keep up the great work! BTW. I would have thought a "go" gauge for threads would be if the bolt you are using threads in or not.
Just came back from an auction myself, lots of the same stuff. The owner of this shop was retiring and moving to Florida. Has a hop down there somewhere. Love the plunder video's.
That ring master looks a lot like the same type I used on some air gauges at my last job, used them to zero the dial once the master/gauge temp stabilized with the air temp, super precision work.
