We start off by moving chopper boxes around, the reason being they are filled with corn stalks and we need to unload them before this next growing season. We show you my fathers first grain drill and go over its history! Also we show you the corn planter and aerator. Thank you for watching, make sure to like and subscribe!

Always gets me a little excited when I hear a Farmall M motor running. Another farmer baled our hay for us when I was grade school age and I would listen for him coming up the back side of the hill to our farm. Still gives me a good feeling to hear it. Thanks for the video.

We farm here quite similarly to what you guys do. From 1918 to 9th 1998 we were a small dairy we are now about a 60 to 80 cow beef heard most of the Year depending on how many calves we get and when we ship calves in the fall and what we keep for beef processing and so on. We do both your corn and shell corn I believe there's still a place for your corn more of our corn goes through the picker then go through the combine. Mostly red tractors we do pull a deer planter 7000 for a wide and we pick with a new idea 324 to a wide row. I enjoy watching your channel because no I'm not milking anymore I understand the small dairy and I like to see somebody farming more to the scale what we do. There's a spot out there for each of us as far as scope is concerned

The wrap cover on the M is just like the one we had. I was small enough I could flip up the seat and close up the back give it 1/2 throttle and you could stay pretty warm. Yes, the good old days in the 60's. Great job guys.

You can’t find any old JD 4 row planters in my area of Ontario because like your father said, guys buy them all up and make 1 and 2 row planters out of them to sell. The prices are obscene, a single goes for 1500+ and a double pushes the 2500 mark, a sucker is born every day it seems.

Alot of us here where I am had Deere VB drills..............I figured that was an FB made around 56, might or might not be right with the model, but was pretty close on the year. We put a hitch on the back of ours, pulled a packer or harrow behind it, saving a trip. Worked really good. Also had a Oliver Superior on steel for alot of years, that one worked awesome too, until the need came it had to go down the road. Well if you go narrow rows, still hope for your ear corn...........325 2 row narrow pull type. I got one here, haven't used it in years, but it will get used sooner or later, getting hard to find ear corn, and I prefer to feed ear corn vs shelled, the cob adds feed value IMO.

We had one of those drills like that when I was a kid back on the farm. 30in corn rows: One farm I saw doing Regen Ag set their corn tight in two rows about six inches to a foot apart then sixty to seventy inches to the next pair where they interseeded cover crops / second cash crop in the wide bands between. I think they lined it up with whatever their combine corn head had, stuffing two rows in one take up, skipping a take up, then again two rows in the next. Seemed like it worked to keep up the yields they were after. Looked like they got the same or higher seed population per acre plus a secondary crop out of the freed up land. Looked clever and worth experimenting with. I just got done setting up my 'new' JD 290 corn planter down to 30in rows yesterday and got the seed pitch set today, oiled up ready to go in a month. I only have a small place and doing both conventional and (marginal/experimental) Regen Ag with it. I'll hand pick the corn with helpers but a bigger place it's possible to use a single row picker or I heard there are some narrow row corn heads out there, which you might look for since you are interested in 30in rows too.
