Based in Naples Florida and founded in 2012, Azimuth Technology has over 40 Haas CNC machine tools, 34 of which are VF-2SSYT vertical machining centers producing drop-in barrels, bolt carriers, and semi-automatic slides. The types of material are stainless 416R or 416 standard, 9310 alloy steel, 8620 alloy steel. All of Azimuth’s VF-2SSYT’s are equipped with high-performance options like; high-pressure coolant; Renishaw WIPS package, 40-tool side-mount ATC, and high-speed machining.

everything this guy said about the vertical machining center to the horizontal machining center is completely wrong. for the price of two verticals you could have a horizontal and a horizontal is way more productive as it is a 4th axis and you can stack way more parts per face on a tombstone and have one loaded offline so there is no downtime. This is an old video so hopefully he has caught on as many other shops doing what this guy does rock the horizontals

Thanks for sharing your comments. I encourage you to view a few other case studies on our RU-vid channel and maybe even subscribe. We have several interviews with shops machining slides and barrels and each manufacturer takes a different approach. Two case studies feature shops that are using Haas EC-400 horizontal machining centers and of those two, one has gone a step further by adding pallet pools. We also interview a shop that uses VMC's tended by robots. It's always fascinating to see how each manufacturer uses CNC technology to machine their parts.
