I’m early in my machining career, most of my time as a programmer and fixture design on primarily 3 axis DN vertical machines. These videos are so valuable for me to see some of the one off/set up tricks and best practices that I don’t really run into in high volume production. Great stuff
Your description made a lot more sense once I saw (near the end of the video) the full frame image of your setup and realized you were indeed working on the drive axle housing and not the axle itself. I kept waiting for the axle setup to appear… Keep up the great job. Your videos are tip top!
I have not done one since the 1980's Had to off set it a fair bit in the lathe for that very reason . I remember having to ask a truck mechanic if it was normal & he said , thats how they are supposed to be . Good one .
Would have been a better video with the job in the machine. But you cannot stop production & some machining methods need to be not to detailed to protect your business. Difficult to choose a process & display while conducting a business venture. You have a good voice for broadcasting. Maybe mix it up with a white board reason why it is done that way. Like a present of compound of 10 degrees to gain a more accurate measurement. I'm sure you have many in your book of ideas.
