Even after that crazy race, his explanation is just so hilarious! 😅😅😅😅😅 Sorry for those that don't understand swahili. He cites childish behaviour as he was then young, and blames the coaches for not teaching how to conduct yourself when an opponent overtakes you😅 So funny.
The reporter: So why did you punch him in the back of the head Machuka: Hip, hop, hippi to da hippitty hip hip a hop ya don't stop a rocking to da bang bang boogie and up jumps da boogie to da boogie to da boogitty beat
Translation on Machuka for non-Swahili speakers he says" It was just childish on my part , i can only compare it to when animals(cows) are shoving each other in a water hole for a better position and one hits the other with the horns due to frustration, it was just by instinct"
bernard curtis Dunni Oni Alanieta Vakatale J DP Siyabonga Malinga ***** and others, here's a loose translation of Machuka's remarks: 0:40 - 1:07 I don't know how to explain myself. You know, there is what you can call 'childish stupidity'. I mean like I could tell you 'don't do this/that'. Take, for instance, two cows headed to a pond for water... they may tussle, each wants to drink... one may use its horn to intimidate the other as a way of saying "Me first, you wait". A way of saying "why are you jostling when I am about to have a drink? Give way!" 1:17 - 1:25 I blame the coaches. They never advised us that such an act ... or if you see somebody run this way, this is what you should act/react. 1:27 - 1:29 If we knew this, then such an event would have never occurred. 1:42 - 1:59 Even though we weren't talking to each other - because we couldn't communicate effectively in English - we met in Netherlands. After going for a road race in America, I returned to Netherlands on the track. We met in one house/building, same agent, ate together, if he has something from their place he brings and we share. 2:00 - 2:09 That's when someone brought me the video where we fought, that is, when I had hit him. This was in the presence of his people. We looked at it and concluded that was childishness, let us forgive one another.
Hey Mr Machuka - the blame falls squarely on u. Hitting someone can't be blamed on the coach or anybody.. It is a matter of common sense - U can't even imagine doing that.
So he feels the coaches should have told him not to hit his fellow athletes. Strangely this hasn't been an issue for many athletes. Also the lack of an English translation is inconvenient but that's the case for many videos done in non-English speaking countries.
Haile Gebreselasie has pissed of so many Kenyans in his day 😂😂. Then came Kenenisa. Ah, the golden age of Ethiopian running. We don’t have anyone like those 2 anymore. But I like it when Kenya wins. If Ethiopia doesn’t win, I root for Kenya. I like my East African brothers
At no point do you answer the question you posed, "Why did he assault another athlete?" This video is pointless and crappy until you answer the question.
He says he was childish - that he has no excuses. He says it's only similar to when cattle are drinking water at a hole and one pushes others so that it can have water. He also blames coaches as he had not been told that it was improper behavior 🙄 if he knew it was unacceptable - he would not have hit him 😂😂😂😂. He says there was a language barrier between Gebresellasie and himself when they next met in Netherlands and the sat down, ate , rewatched the video and he asked to be forgiveness for his childishness.
Gebresilassie was asked about this and said the same thing it's normal Kenyan and Ethiopian competition and it was what you saw it's childish and we forgive each other
Gebresellasie was an athlete who always sad behind other athletes and taking advantage of the donkey wirk done by other atthletes by finishing strong in the last 200 metres. Its frustrating to some competitirs who feel to have been used by him.
@MrBananito5 Of course I don't deny that this Machuka did a wrong thing but I can't see you trying to use bad language here in teh public arena without challenging it. I would have nothing to say to my maker if I let you get away with such bad language. You should know that when you are in a public place like this, we expect decency. I know you will feel really annoyed now, but too bad because your narrow mind has been fooling you about other races. People are the same except in their colour.
No English subtitle? Never mind. I'll call Paul Tergat for a clear translations. 😄 Now, I heard that Komen is a pastor & Gebreselassie is a millionaire.
insane behavior...beat a Kenyan in anything debate, wealth, wit, elections or a no in romance watch your back...today Gebresellasie is among world most respected sportsman!
He is saying that "when gebreselassie started to pass me i saw angels leaving my shoulders and going to him so i was mad at angels and i saw them on his shoulder so i try to hit then and hit him. "
@MrBananito5 I will not be drawn into your really cheap and low level arguments. If you were truly Jewish (you wish) you would know what hatred and racism did to the Jews and would not call anybody nigga. May I remind you that people are the same and there is no superior race except in peoples minds. To tell the truth, if you post some bad language and I don't challenge it, I'd feel very guilty but when I see you frustrated because I have challenged your narrow bigotry, I feel really happy.
@MrBananito5 So who are these .......? do you mean black people, Gypsies, which ones? You are really angry at something and just wanted a small window to throw your anger. Did you just lose your job or something? any careless person could have done what he did whatever their race. This guy was wrong and he has learnt the lesson, but I can't really understand your hatred for people along racial lines. YOU FEEL REALLY GOOD NOW! When you throw mad at some peopel you also soil your hands.
