This is a demonstration of my Macintosh SE accessing the Internet using a dial-up modem and doing some very simple Internet tasks. The programs used to accomplish this are the MacPPP package (the extensions needed to use Internet on System 6), MacWWW (for doing very simple web browsing), and Ircle (an IRC client). You can download all of these files in .SIT format here: dosdude1.com/files/macstuff/cl... (Please remember these are System 6 programs... Much better programs exist for System 7, however MacPPP is System 7 compatible as well.)
The modem used is a Global Village Teleport/Bronze model A861, which is designed for a Macintosh Performa, however it seems to work just fine on my Macintosh SE. It's only 2400 baud, so it's pretty slow, and makes a strange initialization sound.
