BG, we appreciate that very much. It's the difference between long-distance video reviews where you really can't see the details where you can pause and view the details close-up! Thanks for sharing and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug!
@@RightOnReplicas Yes! That's why I like your videos. If I'm confused about something and even if you don't mention it I can look at your work and figure it out. It's awesome.
Erik, we're here to inform and inspire! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug!
G’day Doug, I had the same issues with my DM 800 kit and wasn’t happy with it when completed! So I stripped it,’centred’ the cab, made one piece front clip, stretched the chassis, added long range tanks, sleeper and now very happy with my Aussie r/train prime mover👍
I've been modeling for 30 years, always used simplegreen or purple power to remove chrome. I never knew household bleach would do the same job! Learn something new everyday!
@@RightOnReplicas hey I'm already a member, I luv your channel because u help me out a lot when I'm having a problem with a build. Thanks again and keep them coming!!!👍
I built two DM-800 mixers about 32 years ago , I found many parts that were warped or not completely filled . It still made a nive model of this awesome truck
Wow that Mack turn out looking great but the fit, I'm glad I sob with R.R. because I'm building that Mack right at this min and happy to know I got some fit issues to lookout for... That u so much for yur help as I build. That's why I luv a build along because it walks u right through a problem. God bless and thanks for sharing...👍👍
@@RightOnReplicas as soon I saw one of yur show I hit the sub buttom! Yur a great guy and I really like the way u walk us modelers through , some of us really need the help. Like right now I'm building the Mack DM 800. Thanks...
Doug, I knew eventually the Mack DM800 was going to make it on the channel being that you did the Mack DM600. I really enjoyed your version. I have already built two DM 800's and you aren't kidding about the warped parts and fit issues but I made it through all the frustration and it paid off in the end. I actually do plan on building the box version in future. I'd like to share with you my second DM800 that I did late 2019... Thanks for sharing Sir!
Thanks a lot Doug. Glad you enjoyed it! This particular DM800 will be a dump truck so I need to find it a donor dump body and components and then off to Phase 2.
I greatly appreciate your thoroughness. A question: with a red and white paint scheme, in applying decals (as your video presents in 3:31), would it be better to place red stripes over a white surface?
@@RightOnReplicas , hi, Doug. Thank you so much for your prompt response. To my question: with a red and white paint scheme, in applying decals (as your video presents in 3:31), would it be better to place red stripes over a white surface?
David, Yes, but this kit comes only with whites stripes. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas It did turn out nice though considering the age of the kit I have two of the DM 600 trucks one I turned into the dump truck and the other is the normal on the road truck.
@@RightOnReplicas Oh yes, I have so many models. I watch your videos and also hpi guys model workshop. I would like to start up my own channel and show off what I build.
Not, As I recall it was Testors Bright Red 1231 & Bright Blue 1210. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
Looks very nice wondering if you have ever tried to air brush any kits sometimes spray paint or brush paint can get a bit thick ever thought about airbrushing?
Wiz, There are some fit issues with the kit you'll have to watch for but some of it here is camera angle too. Thanks for the inquiry! - PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
RC, There's really no way to tell until you look at it because of differences in the operating parameters of the mold/machine at the time it was made. There are often more than one mold set too. PS - Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already so that you don't miss any more reviews! -Doug
Mike, It's not uncommon. It helps to build the frame on a flat surface with gridlines and slow setting glue to adjust it. You may also have to use the hot/cold bath to get it straight again! PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
i think MPC need to rework this kit to fix the issues before re release. This looks like a poor quality kit in the 70s, expecially the cab looks like its falling off the chassis. Nice job .
JC, These are really just repackaging of kits. The downside is - they really are the same kit with new decals. The upside is they're about one-third the price of the competition. -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas Never been? It happens downtown at cobo hall every year. Mainly a custom car show but there's also a model car competition and lots of vendors in the toy-arama that cater to the hobby. You should check it out! autorama.com/attend/detroit/
