My Grandfather was in partnership with Peri Burke Concrete & Baldwin Redi Mix Concrete & all he ran was Peterbuilt & Mach’s, he was so proud of the industry❤️
Mack me hizo soñar de niño, ahora me siento feliz de haber recorrido mi país en un Mack y ver a esos viejos poderosos aún trabajando en esa fábrica, eso es Historia viva
I am currently working as a driver for heavy trucks in Japan. I was surprised at the goodness and luxury of the construction of the Mack track. I would also like to work on such a great track.
Bought a new 2005 Vision with the 460P Mack Asset engine...truck was awesome, engine was horrible. Mostly EGR problems....delaminating fan belts due to excessive underhood heat, failing sensors, egr valve sticking in position, variable vane turbo seizing. Most weird was the windshield washer fluid boiling in the reservoir and pushing fluid out the washer nozzles ! Mack "engineers" had to design a heat shield to solve that...backwards engineering. Good thing the truck came with a year of free towing...
I'm originally from Lehigh valley,Allentown at that.and home to Mack truck world hq.as well as a slim few manufacturing and assembly buuldings.i used to live blocks from it.near Mack blvd.sourh Allentown.
I'd never own one. Once took a load of tires to the mack factory. They had work rules that prevented them from unloading more than 10 tires an hour. Was there for more than a day.
Trained at a was it freightliner, plant in Cleveland NC for a parts supplier, bunch of cardboard was on the floor in front of dumpsters, soo much you couldn't walk up to it and throw your boxes in, two guys drove up on a Cushman scooter told me to leave it alone, it wasn't my job, if it didn't get done today maybe tomorrow or next day, but it wasn't my job and to leave it alone!
A few years ago my boss called me into his office and asked me were was E Texas Pa.I said Allentown Pa.area.Out of NIT in Virgina Beaches port terminal he had 5 containers loads of mack motors in Hapag lloyd containers from Germany.i told him where the mack plants are wow.
Not sure why but an observation I've noticed is that the majority of tractors I see on the roads aren't macks. Idk why but I don't see a lot of them compared to KW, FL, PB, and Volvo. Those 4 truck manufacturers are the majority of the trucks I see on our roads n highways... Idk if macks cost more and carriers don't wanna pay for fleet loads of them when they can get cheaper rigs like freightliners or something. Idk, but it just doesn't seem like there aren't many macks on the roads.
I worked 5C final assembly R model line 84/5. Carl P. USMC was my foreman. Best job I ever had. It was NOT assisted with all this stuff! I miss those days and people. A cast of characters.
Mack made the best truck in world in plant 5C, when they were run by Zenon C.R. Hansen. My father worked at Mack for 43 years, retiring in 1982. His brother, my uncle, worked on the "fire line" when Mack built all-Mack fire apparatus. Remember the super-pumper?
Indeed I do! One was completed with pomp and ceremony with visiting dignitaries from the community that bought. In the middle of the ceremony it caught fire from an electrical short.
I dont care about anyone that talks about Mack without Mack there is no trucking n trucking is Mack , Mack is the oldest, one of the best American made brands of big rigs out there like KWhopper n Peterbilt , many older generations of drivers like the Martin " Rubber Duck"' Penewald learn to drive on Mack trucks n should the new generation of truck drivers , Mack needs to be in trucking thats how Mack trucks first started in 1900 then in 1922 became Mack Trucks Inc so there the oldest n the best , So i hope Mack stays were it belongs in the future
Every time I watch a video of a factory in the USA I see the American flag flying. The American people are a proud people. That is why as a Canadian who has read about and admired all the long accomplishments of the United States it is painful to watch in the news the tremendous upheaval happening currently throughout the country. I have been reading about the US since I was a boy and am now in my seventies. Yes, I know that the American people as I have known them will prevail but 2020 will be remembered.
Always was the best made. I'm a little doubtful with Volvo in volved. My last truck before retiring was a 2015 Pinnacle. Nice truvk hated the auto trans though. My favorite is the Superliner or R model. drove many Macks in the construction field
@@donaldbartram6315 Hey Don in philly years ago a trucking company in phillyhad a trucking company called WHP.They hauled beer 50000 llbs. You could not run with these guys all the macks ran 85 mph all R models all red cherry bombs thats what we called them.
@Jeffrey Collier Back in the 90's I worked for this company, we had all Macks, various setups, but had 4 R model stretch frame with sleepers. 5 spd Maxi with only 350's in the but they ran really good. I remember this guy was looking for a place he had to deliver to, he asked me if I knew where it was, I said yeah it's right near where I'm going, follow me. Half way there he asked if I was empty, because he was having trouble keeping up with me in his truck. I said NO!, I had 4800 of Ocean Spray juice on. He said hell man I never seen a single stack Mack run like that,
Back in the 1990's I use to drive and refuel the Mack trucks as the trucking company I worked for just loved Mack Trucks. Those Trucks pulled us out a rut. They were strong pulling trucks. The only drawbacks with the trucks is the turning radius, It's slow pickup speed getting through all the gears. It was a tough truck and the warranties were great. I'm sure Mack has made many improvements. I'd drive one again if I were still working and not retired.
So what if it's a volvo engine? What's wrong with it? Check what those "crap" D13s haul in europe up and down the mountains of the north. And they're very very efficient as well. Anyway, would you feel better if it was a less efficient CAT because it's yellow? What if it was a roaring SCANIA V8 or a MAN V8? Would it still bother your then?
I've been driving trucks for over 20 years, and nothing has left me on the side of the road waiting for help more then a Mack. It's really disappointing when you figure out that Mack trucks aren't really so popular because of the quality, but because they're cheaper then some of the other trucks. That should give you a hint right there, you get what you pay for.
praco Praco because they have much more room on the road Driving MUCH bigger and Longer distances with on average bigger loads because of the larger roads
Too bad they are now owned by Vulva. Kenworth and Pete are about the only HD truck brands still owned by an American Company Paccar). Other than International and VW is trying to buy what part of it they don't already own. Western Star (Mercedes) Mack(Volvo) Freightliner (Mercedes) all foreign owned now.
+Omniscient News Nope, they are Swedish/ American. Volvo Cars, which is a completely separate company, from Volvo trucks, and heavy equipment, was bought by Geely in 2010.
I think made in Europe is much better than made in America. Examples: Bentley vs Cadillac, Ferrari vs Dodge Viver, Scania vs Mack. They are in different classes!
Too bad they didn't show the most important part of that bulldog emblem: the reinforcing plate on the inside of the hood, so you don't pull it off. You have to open the hood and inspect the engine every day, and hood ornaments make perfect pull handles.
16 liter engine is only available in the Mack Titan for some reason..... The Pinnacle uses the 13 & 11 liter engines. Exact same motors as Volvo and painted red for MACK.
Too bad they went so cheap on the new Anthem. I still love the Pinnacle 613s ... Vision style body trucks though 👍 Take that truck and get a better interior and you'd have something great... And dump that pos steering wheel
Miler beer was born in America but it is not owned by Americans. But then Bud was born in Europe but most think is American even if it is not owned by Americans anymore. You want to make the argument about Sikorsky helicopters? (Russian)
DJPaulgee1 no there chinese.lol i know sounds crazy. but they were acquired by the red chinese. and they then acquired Mack truck. so there just made here. just like GM is own by Fiat. there being snatched under your noses
+DJPaulgee1 haha, Europe has and will always be ahead of America in Trains, cars and trucks. The most famous brand on earth is Scania for the simple reason, they are unrivalled in what they do. Mack is now Volvo's property.
Easy now! Volvo CARS has chinese owners (geely) since 2010 and that's the best thing that happened Volvo cars and they are still Swedish and will always be because as long as the headquarters, development, most manufacturng takes place in Sweden by Swedish designers and workers with Swedish material it's Swedish! Volvo was not american just because Ford owned them right? is Dodge italian because they're owned by fiat?NO! Volvo trucks, Volvo construction equipment and all other Volvo companies are still 100% Swedish, i'm Swedish and work at Volvo cars at Torslanda in Gothenburg.
I drove European trucks for 16 years before moving to America. In Europe i drove Scania, Man, Iveco and i always thought our European trucks are the best until i moved to the US and drove an American truck. American trucks are alot more comfortable, they're great in all climates especially desert heat. I would never want to go back to driving a European truck after trying out American. In Australia and Russia they love American trucks also, look at the Australian road trains, most of them are American trucks because they're tougher for desert coditions and more comfortable for the driver. Every single European that i met that has moved from Europe to US or Canada says they would never want to go back to a European truck after trying American trucks. European trucks are uncomortable you're sitting on top of the wheel the whole cab sways back and forth like crazy. The only reason Europe has cabover trucks is because of length restrictions, if our roads in Europe would be same as US or Canada or Australia we would be driving trucks like America builds, because drivers from all over the world prefer driving American trucks then European Cabover trucks. The first truck i drove in America was a 2004 Kenworth W900 with 3.8 million miles on it, on the same engine and transmission, and that's miles not kilometers, our European trucks would never last that long. Like every European always says "You haven't driven a real truck until you driven an American truck".
