In my lifetime of 57 years, the Detectorists is the only series I have watched more than once. My wife says I'm addicted, but I just really love the show, it's unusual in ways that just aren't easily described.
This man is a rare talent these days and comes across as such a well balanced, decent and humble man. As a family we also loved his adaption of Worzel Gummidge.
The holiday special was finally released here in the US and what a joy it was to watch. Our entire family loves this collection of quirky, yet entirely relatable characters and it was wonderful to see them together again. Bravo to the entire cast for their work and a deeply heartfelt thanks to Mackenzie for creating something so special.
I was literally left with my mouth agape at the end of the special. Absolutely riveting & beautifully done. Hats off to all involved for giving us such a wonderful wholesome series full of heart & soul. ❤
I love this TV show and I love metal detecting. I started detecting shortly before the first series of Detectorists. I own the DVD boxset and watch it once a year 😄 Mackenzie Crook is awesome and I'd like to spend a day metal detecting with him
Slightly odd to find the Detectorists on the glitterey One Show - worlds apart. I wonder if our quiet genius Mackenzie Crook was imagining a detectorist wearing s silver trouser suit on his journey home...
Regarding the child actor, I have to agree with you! I also wasn't a fan of Lance's year-long strop at Andy finding his gold. Overall though, I still loved it.
We binged watched the series since lockdown, I watched it over and over and love it, but I didn't really like the Xmas special, I really, really tried hard but it didn't click with me. I hate saying this
