MacKinnon has gotten a lot stronger the past few years. He's been throwing heavy reverse hits (notably against Tampa before the pause. I was there at the Pepsi Center). Reminds me of the mix of skills and physicality that Peter Forsberg brought
Good on Mackinnon for being a leader in yet another capacity, its the kind of thing that really inspires your teammates (although its not a perfect solution since there's a slight chance he'll break his hand or something)
chaosgreyblood No, the skull is hard you can always break your hand. Even pro MMA fighters break their hands in fights with proper punches and gloves on.
Supposedly Kevin Bieksa said on Sportsnet that Mackinnon approached him at 19 - playing for team Canada - wanting to learn tips about fighting. Bieksa replied to him saying "you're a superstar, you dont need to fight" Mackinnon replied with "I want to be able to fight my own battles"
@G P you are either an INCEL Alt-Rightard, or a divisive Russian troll. How is the Incel part of Alt-Rightard working out for you, kid? How's the New Stalin working out for Russia? I'll go either way, troll, try me;)
@@EnerGblah Exactly. I'm just left to assume Toronto was very divisive. Not the case at all in Colorado. Every new member for this year has been a huge part and are having career years because of the welcoming and family oriented environment
Definitely thought trading Barrie for Kadri was a huge mistake at the beginning of the season. My fear was his dirty play didn't belong in our organization. But he has proven himself night after night that he is right where he needs to be. I will never doubt Joe Sakic ever again.
Was it Makar or Landy he was protecting? (Probably both) looks to me (I watched the whole thing at half speed) Landeskog was there in the fray first (he always is), grabbing and roughing up Crouse a bit for that hit. Then Fisher comes up and hits/grabs Landeskog from behind. Mack is having none of it and checks Fisher/pulls him off Landy, who (fisher)checks him (Mack) back, then Mack yanks him to ice like a rag doll and shows him who’s boss. Loved it. Also, Calvert! 😂😂😂
I died laughing watching that happen in real time. Calvert is an all in player meaning even on thr bench he wants in on every team scrum so Calvert is a heart and soul player.
This was by far the most entertaining part of the game. If you look closely it was Landy checking on Makar, ambushed by Fischer then Nathan basically owned him. Just the domino effect of it is beautiful brotherhood. Go Avs go!
What? He's always been tough. Always has been a leader. He's one of the greatest players in the league. He's 24. He's just separating from the rest now. It was a matter of time. He is the Hart of this of this league. Nova Scotia!
@@CO_Yeti guy can't even get his name right and he's giving career advice. yeesh. mackinnon has always played with a tough game. that's part of how he slapped my team around last year in playoffs.
This is exactly what every Coyote player that sees him on the ice has been saying this series. If anything, the pause gave him the chance to bulk up a little more. He landed a reverse hit last game from one leg, the other guy's feet came six inches off the ice
This is why Kadri doesn’t get suspended on the Avs. The Avs aren’t a bunch of girls like the Leafs are, so Kadri doesn’t have to do all the work protecting teammates.
@@zacharyicenhower7388 lmao leafs didn’t choke, did you even watch the series? Korpisalo carried that team so hard every game he played, leafs dominated most games
You don't tug on Superman's cape....You don't spit into the wind...You don't pull the mask off the Old Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Nate?
MacKinnon is just a force. Last year he put on the best show of the whole 2019 playoffs when he basically just turned it up to 11 against Calgary and there was nothing they could do to stop him. Now he's just shaming the Coyotes in every way.
@@dillydilly6987 Unpopular opinion: Landeskog's time in Colorado is limited. He has played real poor in the last two playoff appearances and makes alot alot of mistakes in the Avs zone. This year he still doesn't have a goal, has a bunch of turnovers, but is assisting well at least.
Zachary Icenhower I just don’t see it. Landy does have a quite a few turnovers but when he is in the ice with Kadri they absolutely dominate possession and Landy is almost the entire rush in that line by him self. Not to mention that the Avs don’t have many net front guys and Landy is an absolute beast in front. Unless a Lee or JVR comes available losing Landy would be detrimental.
Lol no one noticed that before the mack fight matt Calvert who was on the bench at the time threw his stick on the ice so he could get off the bench and retrieve it aka allowing him to enter the scrum like a straight denim daddy !! Love Calvert
Didn't people learn from the Tampa game? Haha MacKinnon is a beast, and going after a star rookie on his team is a death sentence. Can't wait to see how he does this year. Go AVS!
Announcer said he let up at the end lmao. It only looked like that because it was in slow motion. Dirty and dangerous hit. Props to MacKinnon for rag-dolling Fischer after taking a cross check to the neck/face.
I love the "disorientation effect" that the stations broadcasting the games use so that the viewers can't make out what the players are yelling at each other When we all know damn well there are S and F bombs being dropped on the ice during that fight
